Culture & Society Why do people clutch their pearls over who goes into the women's restroom, but laugh about men r*ping other men in prisons? NSFW

I don't mean to compare public restrooms to prisons, what I'm trying to make sense of is why is a man "dropping the soap" in prison and being raped by inmates joked about but a trns person using the women's restroom is a mortal sin to some people? Or even a man using the women's restroom if the men's is out-of-order or full. I don't understand this double standard.

I realize women experience sexual violence at a much greater rate than men (~21% and ~3.5%, respectively), but the vast majority of people are not rapists, and rape is no bueno, regardless of sex or gender.

Sexuality & Gender How can I ask my wife to be more mindful without shaming her? NSFW

My wife and I have been together for mote than 10 years. Our relationship is great, sex is great, but it appears that she has a higher sex drive than I do. As of now, we been having sex anywhere between 3-5 times a week. Over the past year i been getting woken up in the middle of the night to sounds of her moaning and to the sound of her vibrator. I work up to 10 hours a day and I am usually up by 4:00am. Being woken up in the middle of the night causes me to feel very tired throughout the day as I am not getting a full nights sleep. I been wanting to talk to her about it but I also don't want to shame her or make her feel bad in anyway. Any ideas?

Love & Dating Do you ever regret not being more sexually adventurous before you settled down?

My wife had slept with about 30 guys before we met vs my 3 girls.

She regrets being overly open to everything because she did a lot !!

I regret the opposite and wished I’d done a bit more…

Culture & Society In the US, why do blue collar people seem so angry and mean all of the time?

I know it's a stereotype, but my friends and I were talking about how often we've encountered it from mechanics, electricians, construction workers, etc. I mean no offense but genuinely am curious.

Sex Is it too soon for sex? NSFW

It's my girlfriends (F19 turning 20) birthday soon and it's being heavily implied to me (M18) by her friends and even herself that by the end of the night it'll come to that.

I feel as ready as i'll ever be and I've made the necessary preparations in case it does happen but i feel like its a massive jump in our relationship. We are long distance and we've been official 6 months strong. Although, not seeing each other that often we havent really had the chance to be that physical. At most we've kissed a couple times in one day, held hands, hugged, really small pda stuff abut we havent even cuddled and im suppose to be preparing myself for sex?

We are both virgins so we will learn together ig. Reading this in my head it feels like it is too soon but i have a tendency to overthink and maybe its not that big of a deal as im making it. We've talked about being more physical soo

Mental Health Do you get this feeling of not belonging in this world?

It's not like I am a crybaby, but it's like nothing that I see or do, it's just not fulfilling. Even seeing some friends doesn't really help to get off this feeling. I'm trying to find some meaning in my life and just can't get there. I wonder if this is ever gonna change.

I think this everyday life monotony hit me hard and it's really exhausting.

Other Do crinkle-cut potato chips taste different than regular chips or am I crazy?

I was having a discussion with my wife about how I don't buy Ruffles potato chips because when I tried them as a child I didn't like the taste. She tried to convince me that the cut is the only difference in the chip but I could swear that Ruffles had a different flavor profile than a basic cut. So today after over 30 years I tried a different brand of crinkle cut chips and I still think I taste a difference between a regular cut potato chip, am I just nuts?

Sex Attraction to... holes?! NSFW

I (20 cis F) have noticed that as soon as i hit puberty i was the total opposite of all my freinds.

It started with me noticing that I like mine subbmissive but also just as masculine/smart/athletic/brave as me. I also began catching crushes on the same gender. But then it quickly escalated to being completely turned off by male physiques/faces and even the d.

I have noticed however that there seems to be this mental glitch where i am attracted to ehm ...uhm h*les and being in them (sexually and conscensually ofc). I however, unlike all the woman iv met, have zero interest in ever putting anything up my own. But always very interested in things being the other way around.

To make this all weirder 😭 (im really sorry). It seems like a mental fixation where i have not a single drop of interest in any man not even socially nor platonically...unless i want to be in them (they probably resemble my type in women some way).

(I also only became attracted to V last year and my brain has not stopped flashing me with imagery ever since )

I get wet dreams often and they all revolve around well...u guessed it-

Im aware that this is called being a stone dom top in the lgtbq community. Im just looking to see if anyone here has had a similar thing going on. Do most men get this too? If ur a woman or a man how did this manifest growing up regardless of ur sexuality/religion/upbringing?

If you stumble upon a hobby you really like and it’s new, do you end up postponing it for several days/weeks/months or even years? Do you do this even if you’re well rested, not worried about results, and have all the materials in front of you? Did you carry this until adulthood?

Mental Health Anyone want to connect and share experiences about stuttering?

I have a severe stutter, and honestly, I'm not even sure if everyone considers stuttering or speech impediment a disability. But it has affected my life in so many ways. My social life, relationships, education, career... almost every part of my life.

People around me know that I stutter, but I've never really opened up to anyone about how much it affects me. I just feel like they will never truly understand what it's like, so I keep most of it to myself.

For the last one year, I've been seriously trying to beat my stutter. It's something I've struggled with for a long time, and I'm trying my best to work on it.

I want to connect with people who have the same or similar speech impediment. Maybe we can practice speaking together, share our experiences, or just text each other. Anything is fine.

I don't really have anyone to talk to about this, and I think it would be nice to connect with people who actually understand what it's like to live with a speech impairment.

If anyone here has a stutter or any other speech impairment and wants to connect, feel free to comment or DM me. I'd really appreciate it.

Culture & Society Am I overreacting to cash gift requests on birthday invitations from relatives we otherwise never spend time with?

My wife and I had a pretty big argument about this, and I’d appreciate some outside perspectives.

My wife has three female cousins who are sisters. She’s distant from one, who doesn’t invite us to events. The other two occasionally invite us to birthday celebrations, either their own or their children’s. These aren’t frequent gatherings, more like an annual occasion. Both women have careers, are middle class, and, to my knowledge, aren’t experiencing financial hardship. The cousin whose birthday is coming up is around 50.

Their invitations include wording such as “monetary gifts appreciated” or “monetary gifts accepted.”

These are small gatherings. The usual group consists of the three sisters, their adolescent children, their father, and us. Their mother has passed away. Occasionally there might be a friend or partner, but there isn’t a larger extended family crowd. It’s essentially the same small circle.

We would have given a cash gift anyway. My objection is specifically to requesting it on the invitation. Cash is customary in our circle for these occasions, and I understand that hosting a party costs money.

What bothers me is the context. In the entire 16 years I’ve been married to my wife, we have never spent time with these cousins outside a party. No casual dinners or getting together just to catch up.

My wife does exchange occasional texts with them, so I’m not claiming there is literally no contact. She considers that a relationship. From my perspective, the exchanges are superficial and usually initiated by her.

I’m not upset that we aren’t closer, and I’m not seeking a closer relationship. But when our only time together is at celebrations with explicit cash suggestions attached, the invitations feel transactional to me.

They invite us but not my wife’s two adult brothers. We earn good money, which has made me wonder whether that influences our inclusion. I acknowledge that’s speculation. Her brothers probably wouldn’t attend anyway. Still, receiving an explicit request for cash as part of such a small guest list feels particularly pointed.

My wife thinks the wording is practical. Instead of buying perfume, clothing, or something her cousin won’t like, guests know she prefers cash. She compared it to a child requesting particular birthday or Christmas gifts.

I understand the argument about avoiding unwanted gifts. But I see a difference between answering someone who asks what you’d like and putting a cash request directly on an invitation to your own adult birthday party.

I asked whether she would feel the same if some of my very wealthy friends included that wording. She said that would be different because they don’t need the money. I thought that was inconsistent with the explanation about gift preferences. She thinks financial circumstances matter.

Out of frustration, I suggested attending without giving cash, even though we otherwise would have given it. I also told her I intended to make a pointed comment to the cousins about the invitations. She strongly objects, and that escalated into a bigger fight.

For transparency, I was angry and used insulting language about her cousins in private texts to my wife. Some of the comments I considered making were sarcastic. I haven’t confronted either cousin. We also haven’t invited them to our own gatherings, so I recognize that we haven’t been pursuing a closer relationship either.

Would you interpret the wording as a harmless gift preference or as presumptuous? Does the absence of any time together outside parties over 16 years affect your view?

And separately, even if you found it tacky, would bringing it up at the birthday make me the one in the wrong?

Love & Dating Is it over if you’re still a virgin at 26?

To cut to the chase, I lived in a violent home environment growing up. It made me only focus on school as a means to escape my family life in poverty. I was super shy and isolated from others my age. That and I was just never really taught by my parents on how to talk to girls. My parents overall just weren’t the best role models in multiple ways. I came close to relationships several times around age 16-17, but things always fell apart due to my social awkwardness.

Fast forward to today, and finally I have my own place and job, but I’m currently living in the Midwest (Iowa) where the dating pool is pretty much nonexistent. For my type that is. I work in a predominantly male field (engineering), and don’t have any social network from high school or college. I had to balance work and school for years. All I have now really are coworkers, and most of those relationships are pretty superficial.

My plans short term are to try and move somewhere better with better weather and more to do. I could try dating apps, but I’m simply not attractive enough to find any real success with those. Thus, my only option is in person gatherings. But I need a change of scenery first, which is what I’m shooting for rn.

Still, it’s really tough being single at 26 these days. Pretty much everyone my age is already experienced. Whenever the topic of sex comes around I always feel alienated. I have several friends who seem to look down on me for still being single.

Just wanting to hear from other late bloomers out there who may have also not had the chance to experience “young love” in their teens and early 20s. Thank you.

Sexuality & Gender Is everyday normal? NSFW

I never thought about sex much, I didn't touch myself. I was taught you're not supposed to, so didn't. Something happened and it changed me. I suddenly think about sex all the time, I feel this urge to touch myself. It's everyday now. I feel like this is not normal but I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to go to the doctor because I am embarrassed by how I feel.

Love & Dating Have you ever felt like no matter what you did for your partner, they only remember your negatives?

Just broke up with this woman after 10 months. I put in so much effort, time/commute/money/planning and so on. Man I even showed up when she had medical emergencies (sacrificing my own plans for the day). I would say our overall efforts was a 90/10 split. But regardless I don’t mind that, all I asked for in return was honesty from her. She lied to me about many things over and over again. I communicated respectfully for months, trying to get her deceptive actions to stop. And finally one day after another repeat, I snapped and yelled at her (yes, I was wrong for this). And ever since then I’m the bad guy, and we recently ended things because of which. She’s going around telling her friends I was toxic, and so on. And everyone thinks I’m the bad guy.
