Hiroshi Fujioka is a pro Yasukuni guy?

• Upvotes

Hardly a question as apparently he talks about not being ashamed to visit it all the time, just a shame one of the foundational stars of the franchise supports it and it's not really known

Who do you like better: Gentaro Kisaragi (Kamen Rider Fourze) or Daigo "King" Kiryu (KyoryuRed; Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger)?

Unpopular Opinion: I hate these 2 characters with burning passion; they REALLY suck.

BUT, if I had to choose who I like "better", it would probably be Gentaro... don't take that as compliment.
As much as I hate him, at least he's not complete asshole and stupid compare to King.
He's also not Mary Sue/Gary Stu.

Even though King has better haircut than Gentaro (lol), I hate him more because... he acts like a teenager... except stupider and dumber than Gentaro; in fact, most characters in Kyoryuger acts like teenagers. lol
Ryo Ryusei (King) may be a better actor than Sota Fukushi (Gentaro), but King sucks harder than Gentaro in retrospect.

You know there's something wrong when high school character is better than adult. lol

Any thoughts?

The only way I can see them adapting the riders is by having them be from the same planet as dex from mighty morphin

Joint Teaser for Our Next Two Tokusatsu-Style Short Films

Thumbnail

Our two newest short films, DREAD PLANET and QUINACRIDONE, are both deep enough in post-production that it felt safe to put out a little teaser for them! Both films are special effects fantasies created entirely with in-camera practical effects. These shorts have felt like a new benchmark for my work in terms of learning how to self-produce and maximize visual impact within my extremely limited budgetary constraints, as well as the incredible regular crew that solidified during the production of both of these over the last year and change. Nothing beats makin' movies with yer friends and I truly have some of the coolest friends now.

DREAD PLANET is a science fiction horror riff taking inspiration from works like Planet of the Vampires and Metroid. Initially it began life as a 16mm project that I pulled together in like a week and a half cuz I'd been given a free roll of Tri-X as part of a study Kodak was running at the time. When we shot that 16mm roll we also shot a digital backup as we were using an untested camera and also covering our actor in monster slime. The Revere 16mm camera in question is non-reflex and kept frustrating the hell out of me, so I started to get artistically much weirder whenever we'd move over to shooting digital, and the digital footage cut together so well that it became the main focus of the project. We liked how the footage looked so much that we decided to do numerous pickups and a couple small reshoots, all loosely adhering to a philosophy of "minimum effort, maximum impact." The rocketship, for example, I managed to fabricate in only four hours. The monster was a two day build. The ruined cityscape was CNC'd out of cardboard based on scans of some off the shelf model kit buildings and we just lit the hell out of it. My favorite additional shot we got is not in this trailer but you can find photos if you look back through my posting history - it's a proper cloud tank shot of a planet in space, created using a painted Christmas ornament and an aquarium from Goodwill.

QUINACRIDONE, meanwhile, is a much breezier piece - sort of our monster-infused take on a high end perfume ad, shot entirely on Super 8mm film! The project evolved as a kind of stream-of-consciousness thing, borne out of a simple desire to shoot more super 8, since it had been nearly two years since the last time we'd shot any! The lead ghoul was my Halloween costume from last year, reimagined as some sort of fuzzy Lothario Frankenstein'd by a bored socialite. I storyboarded the whole thing fairly elaborately - I'll probably compile them all into a zine one day - and I also did all the art you see strewn across the floor in the final shot of the teaser. There are some mega cool practical FX I've kept hidden from the trailer (but may also be in my posting history??) like our take on the prototypical monster making machine featured in so many Super Sentai shows, most famously seen in the original Power Rangers. We also got to shoot for a little bit at Atlanta's famous Plaza theater for the climax of the short!

As for the trailer itself, it honestly makes me want to keep making paired shorts like this going forward!! Neither short is long enough to merit its own trailer and it's so cool to smash together such wildly different vibes into a single teaser. Hope y'all enjoy!!
