Could you please tell me if this is normal? I don't have anything else installed, yet I only have 18.49 MB of available storage left. I performed a factory reset, and it remains the same. My TV model is UN32T4300APCZE. Thank you very much.

WiFi disconnecting and reconnecting problem

I'm getting constant automatic Wi-Fi disconnects and reconnects on my Samsung TV, and because of that I can't install any apps from the Apps2Samsung app. Does anyone know a solution? I know I can install .wgt apps through my laptop, but the constant Wi-Fi drops stop videos from playing, so what's the point of installing something like TizenTube? So that's why I first have to fix WiFi first. Any help would be really appreciated.

Tizen 9.0 running on x86_64 (this time bare metal instead of QEMU)

Post image
10 Upvotes

I finally got Tizen 9.0 working on bare metal PCs instead of emulators! it was a hassle to get working. I used the Fedora build of the Linux kernel to make it work and it readjusted the display resolution to the optimal resolution of my display.

also ignore the stinking backlight, I tried replacing the old CCFLs with LEDs but I ran out ;-;

no this is not the usual Tizen you would see on your typical TV or Smart Fridge but rather the Tizen base

Buying a used QM55H

Long story short, I found a QM55H (Tizen 5.0) for sale selling for $180 has some minor scratches but otherwise seems like a decent deal. Is it worth it at this price and what issues should I look out for? I'm new to commercial displays and honestly I just want to get away from smart TVs that monitor your every move.

Simple local Reolink camera stream app for Samsung TV?

Hello everyone!

Would anyone be interested in creating a simple Tizen app for Samsung TVs?

The idea is very straightforward: an app where you just enter the local IP address and login details of a Reolink security camera, hit start, and directly view the live stream on the TV within the local network. No complex cloud setup needed—just a lightweight local viewer.

Is something like this possible, or would anyone want to put it together? Thanks for any thoughts or help!

[Experimental release] Vetro: all-in-one TV Manager for Samsung Tizen TVs

Thumbnail
gallery
22 Upvotes

Vetro is an all-in-one manager for Samsung Tizen TVs (inspired by Glasshouse) exposed as a browser-based dashboard. With the bundled integration it obtains a stable, non-temporary root - on the tested TV it reacquires an authenticated UID-0 agent after a cold boot without a manual launch. That persistent privilege is what unlocks the operations the public APIs simply do not expose.

It is released as an experimental source preview: it has device evidence on exactly one TV, and the purpose of posting is to find out whether it behaves anywhere else.

The default app build is read-only and contains no privileged code and no installer. It runs on a PC on the LAN and inspects the TV through public APIs; the privileged capabilities come from the separate signed integration.

📦 Repo: https://github.com/andrearicci93/vetro

What it does

  • Dashboard / task manager - CPU, available RAM, swap/zram, storage, network rates and process samples.
  • App & debloat inventory - searchable list of installed apps/components, categories, icons, declared dependencies, plus enable/disable, launch, stop and on-boot/auto-restart flags.
  • TV settings - verified numeric image controls with readback and rollback; unknown settings stay read-only.
  • Local domain blocking - exact-domain hosts filtering on the TV while keeping the configured DNS resolvers.
  • MQTT - broker config, diagnostics, actions and topic triggers, with Home Assistant discovery/availability.
  • Diagnostics - downloadable redacted JSON for compatibility reports.

Risks & honest caveats

  • Experimental, one device. Only a QE50Q80AATXZT (T-NKM2DEUC-2301.1, Tizen 6, ARMv7) has real device evidence. Other models/firmware are unverified; signing, providers, runtime and the root path may differ.
  • No general installer. There is no universal certificate or guaranteed root compatibility. The privileged integration derives from the chris-ritsen/samsung-tv-root research and has only been tried with Partner-level distribution privileges. Successful signing does not imply successful privilege acquisition, and it can disrupt apps/settings. A recovery path should be kept.
  • HTTP is unauthenticated. The management service has no login and runs over plain HTTP - it should only be used on a trusted isolated LAN, with no port forwarding or public exposure.
  • Debloating is not magic. Disabling an app does not mean its processes stopped or RAM was freed. Boot flags and disabled state are independent. Removal happens at the package level and is not undone by "Enable".
  • Benchmarks are exploratory. A small RAM/CPU difference was observed after restoring a few disabled-app flags. There is no validated FPS/frame-time data.
  • Untested corners: unattended cold boot of the newest build, real MQTT-broker flows, complete ad-blocking coverage and other firmware revisions.

It is not affiliated with Samsung or Tizen. Credits are in the repo, thanks to u/s00pcan for his original work. Disclaimer: AI and coding assistans were used to achieve this result.

Feedback. Reports from other models are the most valuable outcome. Vetro's Diagnostics → Download report JSON is redacted (no IP/MAC/serial/viewing history), and the repo has an issue template that parses it automatically. A "does not run at all" report is just as useful as a working one.

Looking for an Open-Source OS or Self-Hosted Management Solution for Samsung Tizen TVs for more than 300+ TV ?

Hi everyone,

We have hundreds of Samsung HG55AU8000AUXUE (HAU8000 Hospitality) TVs running Tizen OS, all connected to an Ethernet network.

Our main challenge is controlling TVs individually. In some areas, we have 30+ TVs close together, and using a Samsung IR remote to turn off one TV causes multiple TVs to turn off.

Samsung offers LYNK Cloud for centralized management, but licensing hundreds of TVs would be very expensive.

We're exploring whether we can replace Tizen with an open-source OS, allowing us to install a management agent and control all TVs from a self-hosted, browser-based dashboard.

We're looking for:

  • An open-source OS compatible with Samsung hospitality TVs.
  • An open-source alternative to Samsung LYNK Cloud.
  • A way to control individual TVs (power, volume, inputs, etc.) over Ethernet.
  • A self-hosted solution without per-TV licensing fees.

Has anyone worked on something similar? Is replacing Tizen possible, or could we build an open-source management solution using the existing OS?

Any GitHub projects, technical documentation, or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

[Feature Request] Search Subscriptions in TizenTube

For those of us with a ridiculously large amount of subscribed channels, scrolling through the list to find the channel you want is a pain (at least alphabetic sort works in TizenTube).

Would it be possible to add a Search/Filter facility to the Subscriptions page to make finding the channel you want faster?

Loving TizenTube after coming from SmartTube, but this is honestly the only feature that app implements that I miss.

Free tool: Samsung TV turns on/off with the PC (and stops it waking itself up after the remote)

- Found along the way: switched off with the REMOTE, my Samsung turns itself back on ~30 s later, when Windows removes the display (HDMI hot-plug). Anynet+ off doesn't help. Switched off over the network it stays off — so the tool now catches the self-wake and switches it off for good.GPUs don't do HDMI-CEC, so a Samsung TV used as a PC monitor never follows the PC. I wrote SamsungTV-Companion to fix that over the network:
- PC boots/wakes → TV on (Wake-on-LAN, ~2 s on cable)
- PC shuts down → TV off; restarts leave it on
- TV off, touch mouse/keyboard → TV on (optional, ~2 MB RAM)
No extra hardware, no cloud, no Samsung account. Open source (MIT), Windows 10/11.
Tested on a Q70T (2020); reports from other models very welcome.

Reverse-Engineer

Hey everyone! 👋

I saw this incredible project where someone reverse-engineered LG's webOS to build a fast, native media client using Rust and OpenGL:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x043yp/i_used_claude_code_to_reverseengineer_an_lg_tv/

I have a Samsung TV running Tizen OS, and I'm really interested in getting a smooth, native Nuvio setup running on it.

Has anyone attempted building or installing native C++/Rust/OpenGL apps (.tpk) for Tizen to bypass the laggy Web App layer?

If you've done something similar or know a good way to install custom native builds on Tizen, I’d love to hear your thoughts or see your setup! 😄

IPTV Deck is coming to Samsung TVs, looking for beta testers [Dev]

Post image
24 Upvotes

Hi! I'm the developer of IPTV Deck, a player for your own M3U / Xtream / MAC portal playlists. It's already on Android TV, Fire TV, Apple TV, phones and desktop, and now I'm bringing it to Samsung TVs (Tizen).

The app doesn't come with any channels or content. You bring your own playlist from your provider.

I'm looking for people with Samsung TVs to try the beta before it goes public. Any model works.

What you get:

- Early access through Samsung's official beta (it installs from the TV's own app store, no developer mode)

- 4-day free trial, and 1 month of Premium for anyone who sends a useful bug report, for people helping more - lifetime.

What I need from you:

- Your TV model and year

- Comment with your TV model and year, then DM me the email of your Samsung account so I can add you to the beta list (please don't post your email publicly)

- Honest feedback: what's slow, what breaks, what's missing

Important note: Samsung TV (US store only)

Community: https://www.reddit.com/r/iptvdeck/
More info about the app: https://zssoftware.eu/iptv-deck/

Thanks!

[Feature Request] Shorts-style scrolling for full-length YouTube videos on TizenTube

Hey! Would it be possible to add a Reels/Shorts-style mode for normal YouTube videos on Tizen TVs?

Basically:

  • Play a normal long YouTube video in fullscreen
  • Press/swipe UP on the TV remote → immediately load another full-length video
  • Keep the player fullscreen
  • Repeat indefinitely
  • This would be an additional section like Shorts, NOT a replacement for normal YouTube
  • Prioritize highly popular videos, for example videos with 10M+ views
  • Let the user choose a minimum view count (e.g. 1M, 5M, 10M, 50M+)
  • Add a language filter
  • Add filters/categories so I can choose what I want to discover:
    • 🎵 Music
    • 🎬 Movies
    • 📺 Series
    • 🎮 Gaming
    • 🎥 Vlogs
    • 🧠 Documentaries
    • 😂 Entertainment
    • ⚽ Sports
    • 💻 Tech
    • etc.
  • Ideally also let the user choose a video length, like 10+ min, 20+ min, 30+ min, 1h+, etc.

Basically I want a “Shorts” experience, but instead of Shorts, it would continuously show highly popular full-length YouTube videos in fullscreen.

YouTube actually tested a similar swipe-up feature for normal videos on Android before, so I was wondering if something like this could be implemented in TizenTube.

Would this be technically possible?

Apps2samsung and/or Tuzentube problem.

I don't know where the problem is, but I'd like to post it in case someone knows the solution. I have a Tizen 5.5 Samsung and I ran into a problem the other day. As a pre-order, I regularly use and update the Nuvio app, which I selected and installed from the apps2samsung list, and I have no problems with it. However, TizenTube is an exception. I install the plain TizenTube or TizenTube 5.5 by mistake. It only starts if I start it from the installer. But the app doesn't appear on the TV either. Even though the signature is turned on and I'm logged into my Samsung account as I should. However, if I download TizenTubeOld.wgt from the TizenTube Github page and install it with apps2samsung, it appears and works perfectly. In the developer settings, the IP is the IP of my PC, but if I load the native Wgt, this is not a problem.

So my question is. Why is it that some of the apps selected in apps2samsung work but TizenTube doesn't, only if I download it first. Should I hide something?
