Alqeda, a terrorist group based out of Pakistan, attacked the twin towers, so we waged war in Iraq and Afghanistan for 20 years

10

u/Tygerius 9h ago

It's such a weird coincidence that American Oil and Opioid businesses exploded during that time

2

u/Disastrous-Task-6122 8h ago

Yup. As well as vp dick cheneys logistics company Haliburton and kbr, which were the main contractors for logistics during the war. Also the geo political and financial benefits for installing a pro western Iraqi leadership. A returning investment. It’s all a game to them. So many lives wasted

1

u/SpecialistProcess848 8h ago

Except it didn’t….. 2 percent of Iraq’s oil was sent to the us during the war lol. Good job on your facts lol

5

u/m1stwalk3r 7h ago

It's not about where the oil ends up, its who controls it. Control more oil, you have more power over other because its an input good for much of the supply chain.

2

u/Dradugun 6h ago

Oil doesn't need to go to the US to be sold by American companies and to profit from it.

2

u/Fibonoccoli 3h ago

It wasn't necessarily all about the oil, more about the supply services and the bag. Typically we think of the military as being self sufficient, however the Iraq war turned this idea on its head and opened the function of feeding, housing, fueling the military up to corporations. Haliburton/KBR made billions off of no bid contacts for years at ridiculous prices with tax payers footing the bill.

u/First-Definition-119 7h ago

You forgot to mention that 19/21 terrorists were Saudi nationals ☝️

1

u/andrewbud420 6h ago

Doesn't America live the Saudis?

6

u/First-Definition-119 6h ago

Look, champ:

80% of America couldn't spell "Saudi Arabia" or find it on a map

65% of America couldn't tell you that Sheik Muhammed Bin Salman is the leader of the country, and less than half of us would even dare to pronounce it, hence "MBS-this" and "MBS-that"

21% of Americans voted for diaper don and will do/like whatever he fuckin tells them

So when you ask, "Dont Americans like Saudi" - the only thing you can definitely say with 90% accuracy is that Americans like: their things; being lied to.

4

u/Vegetable-Error-2068 8h ago

Saudi Arabians attacked the twin towers.

3

u/Music_Addict23 8h ago

It was mostly Saudi Arabia, they financed it, 9/11 wouldn’t have happened without them. If the war was really about 9/11 (it never was), we would’ve went straight into Saudi Arabia.

1

u/MediocreAssociate466 4h ago

This always makes me roll my eyes when clown maga hats try to tell me how dangerous Iran is and is a threat to the west. Like if the US actually operated on threats to the west they would have invaded Saudi Arabia 25 years ago. But no the real reason we went to war with Iran is apparently we are just a puppet to Israel and fight any war they want for them

1

u/Outside_Ice3252 3h ago

i kinda disagree. i think it was inevitable that the military industrial complex was going to attack iran. i could certainly be wrong. i just think there is a lot of institutional power that wanted this war. USA loves controlling oil, and Iran was always the biggest thorn in our side.

once again I could be wrong. but the whole bibi blackmailed trump with epstien photos is a sensationalist cover story for the fact that corporations make a ton off war, higher oil prices, but mostly importantly its just about power and control.

we are headed in a world where russia, china, Iran, north korea are getting very dangerous. these hegemonic bastards that are part of this system just cannot help but always pushing for more war.

3

u/Competitive_Fee_3110 8h ago

Dude, it was critical that we get the Taliban out of Afghanistan because now we have the Taliban, which is much much better also, Hussein, weapons of mass destruction, heard of them?? Or I mean, we gotta have the women vote that’s what I mean.

THEY HATE US FOR OUR FREEDOM!!1

u/TSJormungandr 2h ago

We have free dumb in spades.

u/PerspectiveNew3375 4h ago

Coincidence theorist has some crazy takes

1

u/LordScraps 4h ago

Yeah but think about all the money the Weapons Contracters made... God can't yall think of the shareholders.

1

u/KitchenSad9385 3h ago

Al Qaeda? Where they bad guys? Oh, yeah, the rebranding. I almost forgot. When we were funding, training, and equipping them, they were called Mujahidin and were good guys.

There's an awesome return on investment by radicalizing and arming people to conduct asymmetrical warfare against a larger, better equipped, technologically advanced superpower. There was no way that would come back against the U.S. and harm it!

Well, you know. Except for the . . . thing.

1

u/Primary_Addition5494 2h ago

Al Qaeda was based out of Afghanistan until they were forced out in 2005.

You didn't have to lie to make your point

1

u/Disastrous-Task-6122 14m ago edited 7m ago

9/11 was an excuse to expand American influence in the Middle East and gain political leverage over our adversaries. I’ll get into Afghanistan, but Iraq and the gulf war is a whole other can of worms. The Al Qaeda leadership fled Afghanistan between late 2001 and March 2002. Bin Laden was killed in 2011 (in Pakistan). But we stayed for another decade, and arguably made the insurgency issue even worse than it was to begin with. Why did we stay? Because the mission wasn’t just destroying Al Qaeda, it was installing a pro western gov. The same in Iraq, because a pro western economy grants great investment returns, and leverage in the geo political space. It being so close to russias border. Guess why the ussr wanted Afghanistan so badly in the 80s? If Afghanistan became friendly with the u.s, we could use it to stage troops, use airfields, point missles, etc. Remember the Cuban missile crisis? Everyone freaked out and thought nuclear war could happen any minute. It only ended when we signed a treaty that we wouldn’t contest Cuba, remove our nukes from Turkey, and other agreements. Just goes to show how much leverage something like that can have. The deal with Iraq is far worse and more complicated but it’s late and I’m sure you don’t wanna read all of that lol.

Point is the official narrative doesn’t make sense and we can only speculate why we were really there. Did hundreds of thousands, probably millions, die for some political leverage and financial opportunities? Some of the best people I’ve known are now dead from this. I don’t think it’s wrong to question it

11

u/Odd_Post369 9h ago

Should've thrown a shoe at him on the way out

3

u/Practical_Oven_3594 9h ago

That poor bastard ended up spending almost a year in an Iraqi prison.

2

u/ArabianKnightGaming 6h ago

Worth it. He was treated well by the guards, had a statue build in his memory, and every pretty woman throughout the Levant were sending marriage proposals. Source: am Iraqi

2

u/Practical_Oven_3594 6h ago

Is that what he said? hahaha, that's awesome, thanks for sharing. Hopefully he's doing well for himself now.

2

u/ArabianKnightGaming 6h ago

From last I heard, hes still a very well respected journalist and pretty active on Twitter as well.

2

u/YandyTheGnome 9h ago

He would've dodged it. He was known for his cat-like reflexes. Or at least that's how I think he got that nickname...

1

u/Normal_Choice9322 9h ago

We know that would not be effective

8

u/tharealscottyp 9h ago

It's true. Yet here we are doing the exact same shit over again.

3

u/apathy_thrills 8h ago

They at least made up some WMD evidence last time.

0

u/VenturaHighway377 9h ago

Where? The place where every president said they can’t have a nuclear bomb but did nothing about it?
Yeah, not the same thing.

5

u/CelebronFcks10K 8h ago

Fuck are you talking about? Obamas deal was 1000x better than this stupid fucking war.

7

u/PandaResponsible8133 9h ago

Fair play to him

Show us Bush’s reaction though

1

u/Adorable-Till-9112 2h ago

If someone filmed it it's buried

u/joytotheworld23 9h ago

Dam that's sad

5

u/LopsidedStomach2992 9h ago

He has a point

4

u/cnm75 9h ago

Heavy is the burden of being a traumatized warfighter.

Fucking awful. Apologize.

6

u/Tasty_Particular4997 9h ago

But everyone on here says they wish bush was back right? The dude who lied us into a 25 year long war in the Middle East and crashed the economy. Yeah let’s get that piece of shit back.

3

u/Zoso03 9h ago

Technically isn't it happening again? new war in the middle east with no clear goal or plan and the economy went to shit

1

u/Tasty_Particular4997 8h ago

It was way worse at the end of W Bush, but Trump still has a couple years to really get us in a quagmire.

the economy today isn't at all crashed like it did during Bush, and this Iran nonsense is awful but it's not thousands of American troops and a million or more Iranians dead.

1

u/EuphoricPhoto2048 7h ago

Yeah, a lot of kids seem to like Bush because he's nice. But he seemed like a nice guy while he threw our whole country into chaos. They just don't know how bad it was, or that we owe all of the republican party today to his tactics. Fuck Bush.

1

u/Tasty_Particular4997 7h ago

The fact that the Obamas are so cool with a war criminal like Bush is both gross and informative - there’s 1 big rich people party and people like us ain’t in it.

1

u/LostInUtopia1231 3h ago

He continued the war and killed more civilians than Bush. There's a reason he was known as the drone commander in chief.

4

u/immortalverse 9h ago

Keep it coming

3

u/ComfortableCicada69 9h ago

…did he apologize?

2

u/DharmaCub 9h ago

Vote in Republican -----> they lie, ruin the economy, get people killed -----> vote in Democrat -----> blame them for everything the Republican did -----> vote in republican

u/No-Competition-2764 9h ago

Democrats send us to war the same as Republicans. Only the names will change….

None of this matters. You don’t stand on principle. You only act out of hate for Trump. When you act on principle, get back to us. Until then, no one cares what resolution you introduce.

1

u/No-Competition-2764 9h ago

I was sent to Iraq by Bush. Then Afghanistan by Obama and Obama. Then Iraq and Syria by Obama. Where were the democrats trying to get us out of Libya and Syria which were illegal wars like Iran?

0

u/Viskozki 8h ago

Not in office/not elected yet

2

u/Ok_Second_7590 9h ago

Guy is right and right on!

2

u/KitchenSad9385 3h ago

Why didn't they find weapons of mass destruction anyway? The U.S. did supply substantial chemical precursors for chemical weapons as well as infrastructure for manufacture of bioweapons. Of course this was to help the dictator that the U.S. propped up because our intelligence agencies assured us that Sadaam Hussein could be trusted to work in our interests and not go off his nut and invade some neighboring country. This would be before said dictator went off his nut and started invading neighboring countries.

But, anyway, he needed chemical and bioweapons to negate the threat of Iran, the rulership of which had fallen into Islamic-fascist factions after the people vehemently rejected hereditary rule under the Shah and the U.S. and U.K. jointly decided that they shouldn't be allowed liberal democracy.

That war possibly killed one million people. That's not what this guy is complaining about, though. That would be a different war. A different one million people.

I'm sure glad the U.S. is involved in that region. Without our intervention, it could have gotten really fucking messy.

1

u/Adorable-Till-9112 2h ago

You worded that weird but I got you. I don't think the death toll counter has stopped ticking yet. So much of what we see now in the mid east is from Bush's administration. I honestly think he was worse than Trump from a foreign policy perspective (so far).

1

u/Double_You_6356 8h ago

You never see anyone support the troops in America anymore , just ghouls grabbing them and escorting them out

1

u/sackville-bagginsses 7h ago

Aren’t the troops the ones who actually killed 1 million Iraqis tho?

1

u/m1stwalk3r 7h ago

There was a civil war beneath the Iraq war.

1

u/GeeYayZeus 8h ago

GW Bush is a war criminal, and always will be.

1

u/Lieutenant_0bvious 8h ago

Great success in finding the weapons of mass destruction and making Afghanistan and Iraq great again! /s

1

u/piw6969 8h ago

He’s right…had it not been for Bush Hussein and his children would be continuing to rape and murder their own citizens. Warlords would be continuing to engage the government and the country would be as it was before - under a dictator.

A simple thank you would have sufficed.

1

u/Twisted-Mentat- 6h ago

Defending war criminals online a hobby of your's?

The USA has been manufacturing wars for over 50 years now because dumb ass troglodytes keep voting against their own interests.

If you had actually participated in that war you wouldn't be spewing the lies that convinced a populace to support their war.

1

u/Doubleboeufsupreme 5h ago

Make sure to wipe your chin after youre done deepthroating that boot

1

u/KitchenSad9385 3h ago

Makes you wonder what nation allowed that guy into power.

As it turns out, when you install AND depose the dictators, the war profiteers get to double dip!

Saadam Hussein, Manuel Noriega, Usama bin Laden . . . all our boys. Then not.

1

u/ElectronicTap1109 7h ago

Maybe we should have just increased airport security and stopped helping Israel

1

u/antihuman420 7h ago

To bad Americans don’t care and love their tax dollars being used for murdering their own countrymen and people in the 3rd world.

1

u/MediumRareNation 6h ago

Mental illness

1

u/Dogbold 6h ago

Wild how we hated him so much then and now people speak of him fondly.

He was another corrupt, evil, vile person just like Trump and yet everyone let him get away with it. Obama even defended him.
He's sitting down drinking fancy champagne right now laughing that the stupid population of America voted for another one of him, even worse.

1

u/Administrative_Cup44 6h ago

Who gives af. Fuck them

1

u/Ok-Yogurtcloset7117 6h ago

War is a business.

Same story, different Republican.

If this happened in Russia or china that dude would have disappeared

1

u/KingslayerFate 5h ago

a more valid crashout than the one at Seinfeld

1

u/samoan_ninja 4h ago

u actually defending seinfeld?

1

u/Remarkable_Deer_4748 4h ago

Seinfeld doesn't really have any power over anything.

1

u/samoan_ninja 4h ago

Tru

1

u/Remarkable_Deer_4748 4h ago

I don't have big feelings either way on Seinfeld. I mean, he invites it by posing with the IDF and saying obnoxious stuff.

But basically, he's just a comedian. It doesn't really matter what he thinks. And he's barely using his platform for politics. Like, you have to hunt around to see his politics, he doesn't make it a big part of his identity.

W is a straight up stone cold mass murderer. He shouldn't be allowed to exist in public in a peaceful way. He should get screamed at anytime he goes anywhere off his compound. If there is a hell, he's going there.

1

u/samoan_ninja 3h ago

well said.

1

u/onyxengine 4h ago

Comics have a lot of influence, and influence is power.

1

u/Ok-Raccoon-1626 4h ago

Both “crash outs” are perfectly placed. Seinfeld and W are both pieces of shit.

1

u/Helpful_Benefit_8922 4h ago

Not to mention spending up to trillion dollars fighting and occupying that place.

1

u/jpmunroart 4h ago

Jeez finally! Thank you man!

1

u/conniefrancis 4h ago

Good, W doesn't get nearly enough shit

1

u/beenknowntosuckcock 4h ago

Hes 100% right

1

u/Primary_Addition5494 2h ago

Actually he's 80% wrong. Starting with his first claim that 1 million Iraqis died when the actual number is like 250,000. And only 24,000 of that were killed directly by US forces

1

u/Lightshaperrr 4h ago

Did Bush have that smug dopey smirk on his face?

1

u/StatementHot5008 4h ago

OIF/OEF Vet here…….i don’t completely disagree with what my brother is saying here, and I can empathize with some of what he’s feeling….but I disagree with the manner in which he is doing it and I feel it obscures the message.

We all grieve in our own way, I hope today was an easier day for all of us.

1

u/hifumiyo1 3h ago

CIA gave DNI false intel from a poor HUMINT source, and it changed the world.

1

u/LePyloteAmateur 3h ago

Lol trump supporters would be beating this guy up like they didn’t that poor woman at that rally

1

u/redditmcgeezer 3h ago

Tragic and on point.

1

u/KungPaoYa 3h ago

Apologize? Yeah, that’s never happening. If anything, Bush was probably wishing that protester was dead.

1

u/Hekke1969 2h ago

Now do Trump

1

u/jwrice 2h ago

If 9/11 happened today there's no way we're getting the same level of support from our allies in 2026 that we got back in 2001.

Trump has tarnished our country and made us a joke.

1

u/Ok-Count2017 2h ago

Trump is a POS but he doesn't make Bush any better.

1

u/Mysterious_Badger362 2h ago

It's a mental illness

1

u/Flipper_Picker 2h ago

1

u/SovereignWreckage 9h ago

No lies detected.

1

u/danielm316 9h ago

If the democrats were different form the republicans, George W Bush would be in jail. Therefore, they are all the same.

1

u/LanceColonel0341 8h ago

George Bush ordered me to war in Iraq and then Obama did the same thing. Make it make sense.

1

u/danielm316 8h ago

Both parties are the same.

1

u/madterrier 8h ago

What type of dumbass logic is this?

1

u/BagelsOrDeath 6h ago

The Reddit basement dweller type.

1

u/danielm316 8h ago

Don’t you understand?

1

u/madterrier 7h ago

Yeah, I don't because it's dumbass logic.

1

u/danielm316 4h ago

You don't understand logic at all.

1

u/madterrier 4h ago

Yeah I'm immune to dumbassery.

1

u/danielm316 4h ago

Immune to logic, to understanding the world. You just can't. I feel sorry for you, kid.

-1

u/Funsternis1787 3h ago

Bro, you intentionally signed up to serve your country, which means doing what you're told including questionable things ordered by politicians.

That's not new or surprising. Look at our history.

He's acting like he was forced to do something against his will. He enlisted all by himself, and he needs to own that decision.

3

u/BloodFartz69 2h ago

Do you believe most 18 year olds make good long-term decisions?

Maybe the voting population should be more informed and stop electing these fucking morons who get us into pointless wars and end up rich as fuck with the money they make off it.

2

u/Spiritual-Fruit-2384 57m ago

So you think voting age should be raised?

1

u/BloodFartz69 46m ago

No. If a country is going to send you to war, you should have a say in it.

I'm also not a judgemental prick toward someone who made a choice when they were 18 that sent them to a war based on lies that was fucking awful. I can understand why someone would be mad about that and I hope that moment took some weight off that dude's shoulders. George Bush Jr. should have similar shouted at him everywhere he goes on public.

Also, that guy earned his opinion and OP sounds like an edgelord who hasn't ever left their hometown.

2

u/Spiritual-Fruit-2384 39m ago

18 year olds don't make good long term decisions but should make a long term decision about the who is running the country? Ok.

0

u/BloodFartz69 36m ago

4 years with a changeover of congress every two is long-term?

And yes, if we decide to send 16 year olds to war, then 16 year olds get to make choices about the future of their country.

1

u/Spiritual-Fruit-2384 13m ago

Yes. 4 years is literally 25 percent of their life. Why do we need people with minimal life experience to vote? Why not let their frontal lobe develop more before making a decision?

-1

u/Funsternis1787 2h ago

No, I do not believe 18 year olds make good long-term decisions, but that does not mean they should blame others when they do not like the consequences of their own actions.

World leaders have been leading their nation's military members to their deaths for many centuries.

Y'all need to stop making excuses and acting like any of this is new.

Don't want to be forced to do somethings you don't agree with and don't really want to do?

DO NOT JOIN THE U.S. MILITARY AND BLAME OTHERS FOR YOUR MISERY

2

u/BloodFartz69 1h ago

I'm glad you understand other people's options and circumstances so well.

0

u/Funsternis1787 1h ago

I'm glad you're glad.

2

u/BloodFartz69 1h ago

Do you think the United States doesn't need a military?

1

u/Funsternis1787 1h ago

We don't need a military full of pussy-footing whiners, that's for sure.

1

u/BloodFartz69 1h ago

How many tours did you serve?

1

u/Funsternis1787 1h ago

Are your feelings hurt?

1

u/bsoto87 1h ago

… he is confronting and blaming exactly who he needs to, the fuckwit politician who lied to and misled the American public into a pointless war.

3

u/Steezkowski 1h ago

Terrible take. There are plenty of countries around the world that maintain an active armed service which is not used to invade and kill innocent civilians. He also never said apologize to me, he said apologize for my friends who died and the million Iraqis who died due to completely and utterly pointless invasion.

3

u/SavingsDimensions74 1h ago

Humans definitely should not point out the lies of politicians.

If you serve in the military you cease to be human and lose all right to point out the visceral costs of the politicians.

Got it

2

u/KitchenSad9385 3h ago

Consent requires information. There's a reason military recruiting targets high schoolers. Get them signed before they learn any real history and keep throwing money at Hollywood so they see the shine, not the grime.

Soldiering never offended me because it was physically dirty, but because the cause was more often than not morally reprehensible.

2

u/Visual_Drummer6544 1h ago

Not true at all. He's perfectly free to enlist, serve, and then later express anger if he was ordered to do illegal or immoral things.

0

u/Funsternis1787 1h ago

What's not true about anything I said?

Did he sign up to serve? Yes (true)

Does enlisting mean you're told to do things you disagree with? Yes (true)

Is he acting like he was forced to do something against his will? Yes (true) - remember, he enlisted, signed a contract relinquishing control over his decisions.

He's pointing and screaming "You sent me to Iraq!!!", as if that is a consequence he did not anticipate when he enlisted.

"I signed up for the military and GOT SENT TO A WAR ZONE! HOW DARE YOU!?!?!?!"

Did he think he would get sent out to the back 40 to play patty cake with his military buddies?

WTF do you people think our military is for? It's for doing military stuff, which is never pretty.

Sure, he's now allowed to voice his opinion and dissatisfaction with his government, but blaming someone else for his seemingly unpleasant experience in a warzone when he volunteered for it is weak.

0

u/Acceptable_Leg_2115 47m ago

How old was he when he enlisted ? It's kinda the military's playbook to target naive young kids. Imagine doing something great and serving only to retroactively realize that you participated in a mass murder you didn't fully understand. Also we were ALL lied to about that war. He is not a singular case MANY Americans who never served don't know the first fucking thing about the wars in Iraq.

0

u/No-Check4283 44m ago

But what if you enlisted based on several major lies that they used for the basis for the invasion

Cheney was also the ceo of Haliburton, and KBR a subsidiary, before becoming vp. It was the main logistics contractor for the war. Needless to say that company made alotttt of money off the war.

0

u/OkAssociation3487 9h ago

He’s right but also worth pointing out that the vast majority of those deaths were not directly caused by coalition forces but by Islamic militants fighting the coalition

1

u/JGCities 9h ago

600,000 died in Syrian civil war as well, fighting amongst themselves similar to Iraq.

These are "countries" that were drawn on a map and not organic and thus once they had a chance they started killing each other.

Overall the war was a gigantic waste. Because as it turns out you can't just buy your way into a democracy. A lot of stuff has to happen for it to manifest and there wasn't enough time or resources for that to happen.

I dont know why idiot protesters like this pretend like Iraq and the rest of the world would somehow be better off if saddam was still around. He would have likely got way more people killed. Especially if he ever got his hands on a nuke. He was stupid and brazen enough to use it.

We know pur government lied about WMD's

Who but the US gov would know? They provided the iraqi arsenal in Order to fight Iran, so they should have quite a good info on the stock

Please, please stop using the acronym WMD in this argument. The term is too broad and depending on the definition can become false. Sadam did have chem weapons, he used them against the Kurds and had stock piles. I destroyed some of it personally. He had way less than other countries in that region and they were never a danger to the USA.

What he didn't have was a functional nuke program. He had stockpiles of yellow cake but that is far from enriched for power generation, let alone weapons-grade.

Please just say he didn't have nukes.

I'm an Iraq war vet myself. The war FUBARed me in so many respects. I truly believe in it till I got there and realized for the first time in my life (19 my first deployment) how our government was blatantly lying about the war.

I agree Sadam was a horrible person that had to go. There would have been a much easier way about it then giving 5000 American lives and a million Iraqi. The least GHB can do is apologize to both the Iraqis as well as the service members and their families.

US knew beforehand that Iraq didn't have WMDs. Saddam was crazy etc, that's all true.

u/Relevant-Visitor 9h ago

He had been using chemical weapons on skuds. Those are wmds the state just has a habit of vaguery

They did have WMDs but I suspect you wont accept the truth because it conflicts with your manufactured reality.

Mmmmmmm yellow cake.

u/col_buendia 9h ago

Dear LORD! They were... posturing?!

1

u/itsalmostreal 9h ago

As in feeding us and the rest of the middle east intel that he still had wmd. He did so for a very specific reason. The wmd was his insurance against his enemies.

1

u/col_buendia 9h ago

And the U.S., with all its might and "intelligence" capability, had no other recourse but to take a look see, and in the process kill a million people, maim untold others, and spend a couple trillion dollars...?

1

u/itsalmostreal 9h ago

The million figure is based on all the years of unrest. Most of which was internal conflicts not actual US bombs. Theres no reason to believe leaving Saddam in power would have been less bloody.

Yes to some degree if you want to know for sure there is no other way beyond going in there and looking yourself. Too many places they can hide otherwise. Iraq is a very big place. You cant send 100,000 spies in there to look over every nook and crannie.

u/IcedDante 9h ago

Mr President, are we invading because Iraq has WMD?

No, as u/itsalmostreal has said it's because they are posturing that way.

1

u/itsalmostreal 9h ago

He said we had intel and we did.

u/moccasins_hockey_fan 9h ago

Iraq failed to comply with UN resolution 1441 which required unfettered access to suspected WMD sites and that they disclose all WMD stockpiles.

Iraq failed to comply with both.

After the War US and allied soldiers suffered from Gulf War Disease which was caused by exposure to Sarin Nerve gass during and after the war.

You can play Monday morning quarterback on OIF all day. I understand your points but think about what would not have most likely happened if Saddam was never removed from power. For starters, ISIS and the general rise in Sunni Muslim extremism in the region. Iran also probably would’ve been kept more in check without us having to play police against them in the region. Saddam was not a fan of the Shia led Iran in case you forgot about 1979-80.

u/Ok_Second_7590 9h ago

Fuck Iraq but we would have been far better off!

1

u/No-Koala1918 9h ago

Oddly coincidental that Bush declared Iraq a suddenly dire and immanent threat a month after they lost Osama bin Laden at Tora Bora. "Squirrel!"

u/theaudacity1999 9h ago

My husband never took issue with Bush. He went to war after 9/11 when Bush was still in charge. He became disillusioned with Obama because the rules of engagement changed. He was and is still not angry about why he went.

u/apathy_thrills 7h ago

Your husband is lucky he didnt die to make someone else rich. He could learn a lot from some of these other veterans who understood the reality of their deployment.
