Honestly he's doing much better than most men. He's just not her type. The genuine laugh at her backhanded insults is perfect. He seems secure in himself to me.

Some people need to learn to laugh at themselves a bit.
When I hung out with a girl once she told me “you have really nice skin for someone who dresses like that”, I had just come off work and was wearing a hoodie and pajama shorts, she was tagging along to the dog park.
She immediately felt bad realizing how it might come across but I thought it was the funniest shit ever.
