Other Booking Homestays?

Looking for advice on booking homestays in Thailand! How do you find them?

I usually use Airbnb when I travel and since it’s illegal in Thailand am looking for other options. Any suggestions are super appreciated :)

Do you want genuine homestays - staying with a family in their home - or do you mean small, simple guesthouses? The former are not very common, and in my experience English is rarely spoken. For the latter, I find them just by clicking lots of Google Map pins in the area I want to stay until I find a place with character.

And a 5 star hotel costs nothing..
