Definition Do Local Pinoys Agree With This Translation of the Word “Pakiramdam” ?
Hi Everyone.
I am an overseas pinoy. My family is from Ilocos, so my base language is ilocano.
I only learned Tagalog when my parents sent me to Baguio for school.
Because I want to hear more of our language while here, I’ve been attending pinoy theme sessions / workshops And to be honest…these people are kinda weird.
One of the sessions I attended, the host was teaching us about the “concept” of pakiramdam and described it sorta like this:
“Pakiramdam is described as the shared inner perception, a heightened sensitivity that embraces kapwahan ( being one with the other).”
From my exposure to the language, the word is not meant to be that deep. I interpret the word pakiramdam as “feelings”.
It would be appreciated if I can get the sentiment of locals or even fluent Tagalog speaking pinoys on their interpretation of the work “pakiramdam”.
