Fluff Your Steam profile from 10 years ago might still be out there 💀
Imagine finding your old Steam profile from 2015 and seeing the cringe username and profile picture you thought were cool back then lmao.
Apparently there's a site called https://steamback.gg/ that lets you look up archived Steam profiles and see how they used to look years ago.
Kinda crazy how much nostalgia a simple Steam profile can bring back.
Anyone still using the same Steam account from 10+ years ago?

My one and only account is 16 years old lol

Same :) For what game you created it? It was Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 in my case.
11
u/LadyAelanu 2d ago
I have like...about 300 games. I have no clue which one was first anymore 🤣

u/Mega_Pleb 2d ago
You can check by going to Steam Settings > Account Details > View Licences and Product Key Activations, then look at the end of the list.

u/LadyAelanu 2d ago
Looks like it was 'Magicka Complete Pack'
November 20th, 2011
But I had created the account before that, likely to play free games.

I don't remember lol, my friend convinced me to get it and he made it sound like it was free games and I was a broke ass teen so I never used it for the first few years lol

I made mine for dota2. It was still in beta back then and you had to have a code to make it work xD

Seems to be a wayback machine wrapper

Where it comes from
Live identity uses the public Steam Community page. History uses the Wayback Machine. steamback does not host Steam or rewrite the past.

Why would you create a new steam account? You'd lose access to all the games you'd bought on your old account unless you bought them again. That just seems like a bad plan.
12
u/Capital_Paramedic261 2d ago
Nobody is doing this on purpose, probably people who created the account as kids/a lot of time ago and just forgot how to login
2
2
u/FoxMeadow7 2d ago
I’ll admit that I might’ve done this primarily because, well, of the simple reason that you can’t change your login name. If only I had a satisfying one from the start. And had enough presence of mind to make one way back in 2005!
3
u/Squircleton 1d ago
Why does your login name matter? Only you see it. It means nothing at all.

I've done it before. Never had steam, but bought my gf a copy of Skyrim because I thought she would like it. She didn't and I'd never played it on pc so I kept the account. Used it for years but hated the account name she chose even though you can change the displayed name.
So I made a new account and family shared my old account.

Yeah seems hit and miss. On my 23 year old account it had 0, on my 21 year old account it has 3 (inc current one). Two friends, both with 23 yo acc, one had 0 and one had 3 (inc current).

I know for sure my old Steam account is out there. I log in it every other day.

I'm so tired of LLM tooltips on these random websites. They're more invested in sounding punchy and concise than actually clarifying wtf they mean in an easily parsable manner

My Steam account is 23 years old. Got it when Half Life 2 launched from my old Radeon 9800 Pro.
2
u/Mousettv 1d ago
I must have got the game late cause it came with Counter Strike Souce or something. I had like 6 disc's. But my Steam account is barely 21 years old.
I thought I had maybe another account because I was around when it was green.
1
u/odellrules1985 1d ago
If I remember correctly I think Counter Strike Source came with Half Life 2. I don't remember paying for Counter Strike Source.
But it has been 23 years.

My Steam account from 2015 is still out there, it's because I'm actively using it and didn't get a VAC ban or lose access like a moron.

Why would you have more than one account? Mine is 22 years old
1
u/Moulefrites6611 1d ago
Well, I let my "friend" borrow my OG account for him to play cs 1.6. He cheated which got my account VAC banned. I installed Steam the night it was released. I can't even remember how many years ago that was

I think that by 2015, I was already past my "cringe" phase. Even so, I’m curious what my account looked like between 2009 and 2012. I’m not even sure what username I used back then, because I was constantly trying to come up with something "more epic."

The oldest record they have for me is 2008 for my 23 years old account. Back then, unsurprisingly, my Steam page was all about CS 1.6: my team *aAa* and my maps. Good old days!

u/CannonballMack 2d ago
man, my profile pictures and names were cringe in 2005, 2015, and today. my present day account is a nostalgic look at the past.

u/Accomplished-Leg6947 2d ago
I don’t remember at all what my old Steam account name used to be. Wish I could find it because I made it the day Steam was released, it’s an OG account

my steam account is about 10 months old. kept forgetting passwords to my personal accounts so I just used my brother's for a while

Just tried it out and not much has changed on my profile for 13 years. The only things changed were the profile pictures and my profile levels. Other than that, profile still the same.

For some reason your Steam back machine claims my profile was in French one year, Chinese other etc. Even i've had it English all along 23 years.

I know I had one back in 2014 or so just to play terraria and it's still tied to my mom's old email account.

My OG from 16+ years ago that I "forgot the password to" is seemingly a pretty active privated account with tons of name changes. Me thinks I didn't forget the password.

Everyone in the comments missing that this is showing your profile page from previous years.
I don’t think I’ve changed my name or picture since about 2011, and haven’t updated the description since 2020.

I don't use it anymore, but recently I remembered my old account and decided to try and log in. I saw Skill Special Force 2 in my library, which made me nostalgic, unfortunately the servers shut down. Otherwise, I would've loved to play it again.

I found my Steam profile from 2017, I'm still trying to recover access, but I don't remember the original email, and that's all they're asking for. It was a free account, I didn't have money to buy games back then.

My account is from 2015. Just graduated high school, got out of boot camp, and bought a PC. Good times. Weirdly, "Sir, you're being hunted" was the first game I bought on the PC and just this year it will got a console release. Wild.
