Announcement We need more than one follower in SOD3
we are getting up to 36 survivors in this new game. if we want to take the risk and put 4 of our survivors on the line to attack a nest or scavenge further away we should get that option.
one unseen screamer could be enough to devastate our community by killing 4 of our community members.
I am also hearing followers can’t die? That sucks, with 36 survivors it should be our call if we want to risk losing up to 4 characters in one bad day. Adds an extra level of risk and decision making for us.

Edgar Higgins (Known as "v01" in files. He doesn’t have a name, so I gave him one myself. The orange circle - broken hair.)

Discussion How would you make exploring the open world more rewarding and less repetitive?
Would you like to see more random encounters, hidden locations, rare loot, unique survivors, or dynamic world events?
What could make each journey feel different instead of repetitive?

Discussion Sooo, you can’t really go near Black Plague Hearts without a scent blocker, I guess.
Or at least that’s how it seems to me, since the zeds around them manage to spot me from across the street—or even further away—while I’m crouched. I’m in NO position to buy that item that masks my scent. Any tips? Especially since vehicles seem pretty much useless in the area affected by the Heart?

State of Decay 3 SoD3 Beta; Fuel Update - There are now different sizes of fuel cans to refuel vehicles. Ethanol can also be used to sparsely refuel cars. Both Ethanol and Fuel cans are now throwable items that can ignite (with gas cans having long lasting flames)

State of Decay 3 SoD3 Beta; Injury System - Traumas sustained while playing will now directly cause specific body injuries that will affect your survivor’s performance. Ex; Having a concussion will cause less range damage and poor aiming

Funny In your game, how many survivors lost their virginity to Lucy Cormoram?
I find it funny how, at least for me, it seems like this story is told precisely when I'm playing with female characters; it's happened to me at least three times in a single playthrough.

State of Decay 3 So, are we getting this memorial wall in game (showcased in the 2024 trailer)? Or was it just made for the trailer?

State of Decay 3 In SoD3 (Beta build) You are able to send one of your survivors to retrieve a car you found when out in the world - It will cost fuel and influence - This eliminates the need to ditch the car you had when finding another vehicle or walk long distances to get it yourself!

Game Question Strange Experience - Unknown noise and Unintentional Jump Scare
Hey folks,
I had a bit of a strange experience in game a few days ago and it's been playing on my mind ever since. I've tried a few searches through reddit, google exc. but haven't found anything similar. I'd like to start by saying I am aware this is likely just a coincidence, with a couple of bugs occurring at the wrong (or right) time. But like I said it's been bothering me, so I'm hoping someone else may have experienced it or have some sort of insight.
So... I was searching a regular house when I started to hear a weird noise. It sounded like a low growl but not distinctly like any specific infected or sound effect I've heard before. Started off quiet but then began growing louder. So I stopped moving, trying to figure out where it was coming from, thinking some kind of special infected was about to jump through a window. It got louder and louder until suddenly it just stopped. But at the exact moment it stopped one of those god damn carved bears just popped into existence right in front of me.
I think I was quite tense because I was trying to figure out where this strange noise was coming from, getting louder and sounding like it was getting closer. When the bloody bear appeared I genuinely jumped in real life.
The only explanation I can think of is the noise was some kind of bugged infected sound or unusually loud ambient noise and the bear carving just failed to render until that exact moment. But the timing was so perfect I'm struggling to accept it. But I can't think of any other reason for it that makes sense.
Has anyone else come across this? Even if you've heard the strange sound or seen the bear pop into existence individually? If anyone has a theory as to what could have caused this I'd really appreciate hearing it.
Anyway, if anyone has read this far, I thank you. Sorry for the long post, I'm not the best at putting things down on paper (or screen).
Cheers!

Discussion If that happened in a small town like Trumbu Valley, what must it be like in the big cities? What horrors can you imagine happening there?

State of Decay 2 Dissapointing...
A curveball glitch broke my game. Had the container fort, and everything... and one glitched curveball taking my resources ruined it all.
Never going to turn curveballs on again, unless rhe devs can confirm they work, or can provide a way to remove glitched ones... thats just not cool at all.

Funny In the alpha and beta gameplay footages of State of Decay 3, and in the previous trailers, I noticed that the cars don't have any windshields, instead they have metal mesh. Well… I gotta say…driving without any windshield is going to be quite an experience

Discussion Should Cars Be Rare and Difficult to Maintain in State of Decay 3?
I think vehicles should be much harder to find and maintain in State of Decay 3.
We're already so far into the apocalypse now; finding vehicles in any working condition should be quite difficult. So when you're out looting and you finally spot one, it should feel rewarding. Like you progressed the community.
Next thing you know; your car is breaking down. You need to find parts to repair it. We know that parts will be the go to, but imagine that one part being a sparkplug.
In state of decay 1 when a facility was being built, sometimes you would need a specific item for it to progress. Example: upgrading a garden will possibly ask for you to find heavy gloves to upgrade it. Same concept, but with vehicles. This could also expand with facilities as well. (That's another discussion)
So... Would you prefer scarce vehicles for a more challenging experience, or easier access to cars for convenience? Let's talk about it.
