Reboot or ?? Poll

Since I actually like the idea of a full reboot and hardly anyone else on this sub supports that idea, i thought we'd get some actual numbers on what people would prefer.

Ask r/Stargate Why does an off-world gate have Earth's point of origin symbol?

I've seen this happen in several episodes (s1-s3).

I'm willing to concede to it being a production mistake, however in some episodes it seems deliberate, like "New Ground", where the episode literally starts in a close up of Earth's point of origin symbol in a Stargate in another planet.

Hard to argue for production error there.

I still can't figure out how the Wraith defeated the Ancients

They must of had some crazy numbers of ships to throw at the Ancients.

Considering the Daedelus was pretty effective on its own against hive ships, you'd think Ancient warships with more firepower and far greater numbers would be able handle the Wraith without too much problem.

Of course for plot point purposes they were defeated. But in all practicality from what we know, they shouldn't have. Their technological advantage should have made them near invincible, especially with ZPMs powering their ships, weapons, and defenses.

Or somehow the Wraith were able to scale to a level where they outnumbered them 1000 to 1 or something.

Conspiracy The probability that one of the Ancients is named Anoia is non-zero. If so, she gets these tiny influxes of faith power every time a spatula gets stuck in a kitchen drawer.

I just needed to get this out of my head, I see a lovely overlap in how faith based power works in both of these universes (that is Discworld and Stargate universes).

David Blue at it again.

I think David Blue never got treatment for the PTSD that SGU's cancellation gave him.

The dude is waging a war on FB against anyone daring to criticize or doubt the upcoming Amazon Stargate reboot.

What the hell is wrong with that guy? I haven't seen a such a thin-skinned man-baby in a long time, who can't take ANY opinion that disagrees with his own.

How common exactly were near-ascension powers among the ancients?

It seems like we have individual examples of ancients like Ayiana who had healing powers at least. We also know that ancients were 'more evolved' (in the science-fiction sense) and relatively close to biological ascension for a good chunk of their existence. We've also seen random examples of humans who have some of these powers (the people of the cloister and that one man from the Seer episode of Atlantis).

But it seems like a lot of the non-ascended ancients that were actually encountered in Atlantis were...normal? The crew of the Aurora and the crew that the Daedalus rescued from from intergalactic space don't seem to have exhibited any special abilities.

Ask r/Stargate Is the stargate 94 movie a good jumping on point?

So my parents have always been pretty into sci-fi and due to that It meant I absorbed star trek & doctor who and stuff like Eurika, The librarians, Buffy, Hell pretty much anything that used to air on the "SYFY" TV channel in the late 2000s & early-mid 2010s via osmosis but one show they always avoided was stargate, It'd always come on after star trek or Eurika but they'd always change the channel the channel claiming it was just bad if I asked why or their opinion on it and as a kid I just took their word on it, my only real exposure to the franchise up to that point had been through roblox of all things and as you can imagine the fan games weren't very developed beyond the use of the portals.

That being said I recently gave the Stargate movie a shot since it was staring me at the face on Amazon Prime 24/7 and while I thought the movie was pretty solid and liked a lot of it's ideas like how it used ancient aliens and forerunner (for lack of a better term) theory for the humans on that alien world and their strange but familiar culture I wanted to know what fans of stargate thought of it or if it's even a good jumping on point because I don't really know the series orders or how it was received by the fandom.
For all I know this movie is either dearly beloved or a betrayal of everything that came before, I know with star trek and it's many generations of movies & series for example there's often heinous debate and fandom scorn over specific series and movies, deep space nine & enterprise being not well liked for example and the JJ Abrams movies being seen as a copy paste of older films.

In anycase I'd like to know the fandom's opinion on it and where I should go from here as I am interested in branching out to the shows

Discussion S2: Why does no one else try Sokar's particle accelerator before nor again?

In S2 Sokar uses a particle accelerator to attack the Iris and force Sgc to hand over Apophis.

How come no goauld lords nor other enemies tries this before nor after? It seemed rather effective?

Discussion Jonas' intar pistol

Started as a thought about why Jonas is using an intar in Shadow play. I always assumed it was something like Jonas going along with the Dr Keiran to the hide out, not wanting to kill anyone 'innocent'. Then it was all revealed to be in the Dr Keiran's head.

According to the gateworld the intar was a hint to the audience that Dr Keiran was imagining it all.

The production not also mention the intar "...is the weapon Jonas carries with him off-world (for the time being)."

But I have no recollection of Jonas ever carrying an intar outside of this scene.

Is that a poorly written note or did I miss the glowing red gun part for most of a series?

Fan-Made Will it work that way? Dialing sequence and travelling

Video showing the Gate's dialing sequence and the travel through the gate

Short clip from a free 3D browser game I have been making. Obviously it is supposed to be a fan-made game, not trying to hurt any rights, trademarks etc.

What do you think of the dialing sequence and the travel - obviously different and not so polished, but will it work for now?

Background: I have been working on a 3D browser game engine for some time, and recently I re-purposed it for a new fan project. It will be a single player game with optional co-op mode.

Let me know if you think I can keep this animation!
