Hey there everyone! I've been working on a tool over the past few days to play Spore on Apple Silicon.

With the help of Claude and Reverse Engineer Anything, the tool generates a Spore application that you can run natively (so you don't need a dynamic translating layer, like Crossover or Wine.) It works by recompiling the original x86 and D3D9 binary to ARM64 and Metal.

How to use

To get started, all you need is Homebrew and your own DRM-Free version of Spore + Creepy & Cute + Galactic Adventures.

The tool doesn't have any assets (code, models, audio, images) from Spore itself. It takes what you provide and converts it. It's a one-line command that you point to your installation files, and it produces a `Spore.app` which you can then throw into your applications folder and run like anything else.

Features

Launcher - The tool comes with a game launcher that gives you some control over the runtime, including a few Mac specific settings:

• full Retina rendering versus scaled
• frame rate settings that allow you to uncap from 30 to the devices refresh rate or beyond.
• a display setting that accounts for the camera notch in fullscreen

Additionally, the launcher exposes a few of the game's original flags. These let you launch the experimental/hidden editors or straight into game modes (though only cell stage seems to work.) I also threw in a custom flag to skip the intro so that you can launch right into the main menu.

Online - Online features are supported. I haven't had any issue with logging in, publishing/downloading creations, or other aspects of online play. If you'd like to stay completely offline, there's an option for that, too.

This was really fun to make! I played Spore a ton as a kid and tried so hard to mod it back then. It was one of the things that led me to becoming a software engineer. After seeing all the recomps/decomps going around lately, I wanted to try my hand at it with Spore. I'm pretty happy with the results.

I'd love to continue with this and integrate more with the larger modding community. It'd be neat to add one of the community mod loaders to the launcher.

READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING FILES

All Night Fury variants are created with mods and will glitch out if you add them to the base game. The mods you will need are:

• Dark Injection
• Advanced Creature Paint (I personally used v1.1)
• Infinite Part Scaling
• Universal Property Enhancer

Once you have these mods, you can install them and you should have no issue adding them to your game, but it's not guaranteed.

Night Fury Models + Download Links

Base Night Fury - A regular Night Fury.

"Shot Down" Variant - A variant of the Night Fury with a missing left tail fin.

"Display/Upright" Variant - A variant of the Night Fury upright on its hindlegs.

"Dancing Toothless" Variant - A variant of the Night Fury designed to look like the Dancing Toothless meme. It's the only variant that doesn't use the Base model.

I'm trying to play Spore at a 4k resolution but the UI doesn't scale, so I installed a mod called UI Fixer Framework that's supposed to fix this, at least up to 1080p, which would still be big enough for me, but I can't seem to get it to work, does anyone who uses this mod know what might be going wrong? I do have UPE installed too

My other favorite Spore creatures I've made (other than the Annur) are the Ankosh (pics 1-7 and 17), from the planet of Ankarosh. And yes, they have a terrifying smile while trying to be polite and friendly. Partly inspired by Lord Shen (from Kung Fu Panda) and Nyra (from that one Guardians of Ga'Hoole movie) with the sprinkle of Halo's Covenant, at least aesthetically.

They're Zealots (went through the R-R-G-G route), but with a twist in their lore that would be considered blasphemous by other Zealot empires. You know that, in the canon lore, Zealots, being Spode worshippers themselves, hate The God That Will Come (or TGTWC for short) and is seen as demonic. In the Ankosh's case, they don't see TGTWC as something to be despised or feared. In fact, they see Spode and TGTWC as interconnected to one another (or even as one in the same), despite being separate deities from different religions.

What also makes the Ankosh different from other Zealots are that they have religious restraint and they don't forcefully convert others unless they're provoked.

They have a saint (whom they have a temple as a city hall named after), St. Shaasa. And her lore goes something like this: "St. Shaasa. Warrior, Mother, Guide. Born of the Source, Warrior Wife to Spode, Mother to The God That Will Come." And one of her teachings says to have religious constraint and don't forcefully convert others unless provoked.

And then there's Kreela (pics 7-16), the Ankosh Captain. Descendant Chieftain Krica, possibly a descendant to Shaasa through Krica's bloodline, she's a religious baddie with a terrifying smile and an even scarier angry snarl. She sometimes wears her skull mask when she's in battle because she's a warrior, both by skill and spirit, not just a Zealot.

P.S., She and the rest of the Ankosh would find the Xaarohi (my other Spore creature I've made) to be adorable (as in "Aww, The Xaarohi warriors and their honor, so cute🥺"), even though the Xaarohi don't like Zealot empires and they see the Ankosh as a headache.

P.S.S., The Ankosh are responsible for uplifting other species through monoliths, except the uplifted species keep attacking other empires (that are allies with the Ankosh).

Bonfire Elemental: A fiery wave of embers advances for military dominance!

The Gaslighter is a cervid creature that barely escaped from a fire. Its skin reeks of burned flesh. The skull and ribcage are exposed. The antlers "burns" a hellish orange-red. Many urban legends say that it survived a devastating wildfire caused by an arsonist. Now it roams the lifeless forest to hunt down the criminal to send them to the pits of the underworld. People who have seen Gaslighter attempted to scare it away with fire, but it is unfazed by it. It seems to have developed a immunity from it.

The Borgo created the virus to evolve their bodies into a stronger form. But the virus changed and evolved beyond their control causing the infected to be hyper aggressive and infecting 95% of life on the planet, with 5% being non mutated Borgo. The Five star Alliance in a extremely controversial move, has decided with a 3 to 2 vote to crash the planet into its star, and that the risk of spread is too dangerous to save the remaining civilians.
