I'm 23 and all the older people in my family have these wrinkles, but much worse. I'd like to treat them now so I don't look bad in the future.

Product Question Can Sulfur soap cause purging??

• Upvotes

I've just used it twice, don't scrub it on my face. What I do is I create a larger and then slowly put the lather on my face and leave it for 30 seconds and wash off.

Routine Help Eye bags - can I improve them

Post image
6 Upvotes

Just trying to get the good old reddit advice for under eye bags. I’m in my early 30’s, but honestly it’s strange I’ve never really noticed them about my appearance before but I was looking at my passport photo from nearly 10 years ago and I had them then. so maybe it’s a bit of getting older and a bit of genetics as well.

Anyways I have became extremely self conscious about them, like it’s seriously effecting my mental health and self confidence. Is there anything I can do that’s non invasive (I know lower blepharoplasty is probably the best option). I constantly have a blocked up nose as well so not sure if thats not helping.

Dryness Finally finished the last of my favorite discontinued product. Need dupes!

I was devastated when Paula’s Choice discontinued their super hydrating overnight mask last year. I made such a big deal that my husband and my mother each got it for me as a Christmas gift. I ran out of it this summer, but with the dryer weather starting, I’m really noticing not having it.

I CANNOT find anything as good. I love the light weight, yet sticky texture of the mask. I love how hydrated and plump my skin feels with it. I need suggestions to replace!! TIA.

Body Care What’s a body oil that does NOT contain cocoa?

What’s a body oil that smells great, feels nice, and moisturizes? But doesn’t contain cocoa. Unfortunately my skin doesn’t agree with it.

I’ve tried Trader Joe’s lemongrass coconut body oil, but I’m not exactly a fan of the smell. It’s not bad it just reminds me of cleaning products. It does the job but not a huge fan of the smell.

It’s such a shame I really like the smell of cacao, but clearly my body doesn’t agree with it. I love anything vanilla based, but I’m open and willing to try anything!

Any suggestions? TIA

Routine Help Peeling with exfoliants

I've been using tret w/estriol for many months. I recently added in some exfoliants (AHA and BHA) and I've started very slowly with them. Today I'm noticing some slight peeling. Is this normal or does this mean it's too much for now?

Routine Help Does your skin feel tacky or oily after completing your skincare routine?

What the title says. Does it look visibly oily and tacky when you touch your face?

Do you blot it daily and/or use powder during the day?

I do mean the glass skin look. I do not mean dehydrated skin that needs hydration, i mean actual oily skin people. And yes, I do use niacinamide serum.

I have been very consistent with my skincare and use products that don’t irritate my skin. I can’t get past the feel of oily/sticky face whatever i do😭

Feel free to give product recommendations or any other tips

Routine Help Oily t-zone despite previous dry skin?

20F. My skincare routine (AM + PM):
Cerave Hydrating Cleanser
Anua Azelaic Acid 10+ Hyaluron (just ran out)
First Aid Beauty Hydrating Toner
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

Also, I typically use Aveeno shower products.

Previously instead of Anua I would use Geek & Gorgous HA 5 Rich. I switched to the Anua one because I have some issues w/ redness, which azeliac acid can help with, but not sure how much (if at all) it actually helped me.

I know I should also have sunscreen in the AM, but ngl I rarely go outside anyway so for now it doesn’t make much of a difference.

Essentially, I used to have some dry skin issues, especially in Winter. I more specifically for about a year would get actual eczema (rather than just dry skin) on my eyelids. These are the reasons why my routine is SO moisturising.

My skin feels hydrated; however, my t-zone ends up getting SO oily. I assume my products may have sent me in the opposite direction, if that’s even possible. What should I do to reduce the oiliness? Do I need to ditch any products?

I also have some products laying around that I already have but don’t use, if this helps. These are the main ones:
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% (stopped in case it was making my eyes worse)
Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Toner
Q+A Vitamin C Brightening Facial Serum
Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Cleansing Oil
Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask
La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+
And just bought Medicube Zero Pore Pad and a random HA undereye roller serum (was curious)

Any suggestions would be great!😅

Educational / Discussion 39f, What can I do to really take my skin to the next level?

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for some RECOMMENDATIONS for getting some products together since 40 is around the corner and I want to make sure I'm doing the best for my skin, for my age.

I don't wear sunscreen because I'm mostly indoors 85% of the day.

And when I do go out, I wear sunglasses and a hat, but that's pretty much it.

I'm concerned about laugh lines and some scarring from my time of the month. (Can't use the proper medical term for some reason. 😅)

I currently use cerva moisturizer and that's pretty much it. I usually just wash my face with heavily diluted Dr. Bronners.

But I'm open to trying products that can help me maintain healthy skin! (Especially for scars).

Thank ya for your time. 😊

Attached are two pictures, no filters, in the evening, before showering.

Wrinkles / Anti-Aging How to prevent skin thinning or thicken skin? [Anti-aging]

I'm 18F, and I have thin skin. Veins are visible through my eyelids, and my skin is prone to dryness. I always try to keep it hydrated, and basically, a moisturizer is the only thing I use right now.

In normal lighting, it looks even worse, and my eyes sometimes look very sunken, which makes me look much older than I actually am. I am worried that it will get much worse with age, and I often hear that "white girls age quicker due to genetics". I would like to know what I can do to maximize prevention of dehydration and thinning of my skin in future/right now

Misc Silk towel? Face shield??

I'm trying to figure out my options / if a product like this even exists! I recently started sleeping with a body pillow system for acid reflux, so I'm on a wedge pillow with a body pillow wrapped around me to keep me still / in one position.

I cannot find a silk cover for the body pillow and would have to custom order one which is insanely expensive!

I usually wear a bonnet to bed to protect my hair but am more concerned with my face against the cotton pillow cover all night: I wash and change it regularly, but I'm just not convinced that the cotton cover is the best thing for my skin.

Is there a face-sized silk towel I could get for just my face to rest on that I could drape over the pillow? Is there a product out there that already address this issue?? I've surfed Amazon and haven't come up with anything so I come to the skincare gurus for advice!

Routine Help Simple Skincare Routine

Hello! I'm a 28 (almost 29) year old woman who, until recently, didn't do much more than wash my face with water in the morning. It was one or two years ago I started doing a skincare routine of some sort.

It's a very simple one, and from what I've read sometimes simplicity is best. I try to use vegan products. I honestly don't know my skin type but I assume it's normal: I don't think it's dry nor oily, I never had an issue with my skin, I only have the occasional pimple.

So, here's my routine:

- wash in the morning and afternoon with The Body Shop Seaweed Wash

- exfoliate with The Body Shop Seaweed exfoliator twice per week

- The Body Shop Edelweiss Day Cream in the morning

- The Body Shop Edelweiss Serum, Eye Mask and Night Mask at night

- I was recently offered the CeraVe Retinol Serum, I use it twice per week (instead of The Body Shop Serum)

- Every now and then I use a face mask, but it's quite rare. Currently I have some rice ones I brought from Japan

- I know what you're thinking and yes, I do use sunscream, and also yes, I skip it sometimes even though I know I should wear it always. It's just that I hate the one I have (Avène Fluid Mineral 50+SPF). I also can't spare extra 5-10 minutes between layers in the morning (I need as much sleep as possible). Any tips?

I have no idea if I'm doing things right or wrong. As I said, my skin looks fine, and I feel like most people overdue it these days (not to mention today's growing phobia of getting older and looking like your age). I'm here to see if you have any feedback/opinion/tips, but please be nice and keep in mind that for me, it has to be simple and not too expensive, otherwise it's not feasible!

Product Question Best alternative to Kojie San Kojic Acid Soap?

Hey everyone! I’ve been trying to buy Kojie San Kojic Acid Soap, but it seems to be out of stock everywhere.

Can you recommend another kojic acid soap that works just as well as Kojie San for skin brightening, tanning, and pigmentation? I’m specifically looking for a kojic acid soap, not a serum or cream.

Please suggest something you’ve personally tried and found effective. Products available in India would be preferable.

Thanks in advance!

Product Question Bumps under eyes from Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser?

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

This is a common irritation spot from me. I have 2 patches under my eyes that occasionally turn red, itchy, and sometimes erupt papules/little zits. Most recently, with cetaphil gentle skin cleanser.

Before cetaphil -> during cetaphil, got even worse than this in 2.5 weeks-> after 6 days without cetaphil.

My question is, what ingredient in such a simple formula could’ve caused this? Did anyone else have this same reaction?

-pic 1: s.nature aqua rice cleansing milk + the 2024 formula of illiyoon ceramide ato concentrate cream.

-pic 2: cetaphil gentle skin cleanser + the 2024 illiyoon.

-pic 3: bioderma sensibio micellar water and no moisturizer, as my illiyoon’s run out, hence the dryness…. but otherwise clearing up with no more itchy bumps.

Trying to use up the cleanser on my body, I also realized that with longer contact time, it started itching and irritated my KP bumps, turning them red for days. I was originally so impressed because the nonfoaming formula was so non-stripping and it’s affordable 😞

Routine Help Anyone else deal with only ears?

Hey guys! Does anyone else deal with extremely oily skin behind their ears? Even not long after washing my face, the skin behind my ears gets so oily, and I have a lot of blackheads around and behind my ears.

At the moment, I wash the area with my cleanser for oily skin, but it doesn't seem to help much. I also have the La Roche-Posay Effaclar serum, and I'm wondering if I should apply it to my ears every time I use it on my face.

I have long hair, so I know that might contribute to the problem, but even when I tie my hair up in a ponytail, my ears still get super oily.

Does anyone else experience this? Have you found anything that helps? I honestly feel so disgusting because of it.

Hello everyone so I got an amazing face cream but unfortunately, I kept only cream and threw the rest. It was given to me as a gift with some of my purchase from flaconi and along with that they gave me like the sample for face cream like I said, unfortunately I don’t have the label or like the rest of it because I threw it so I just kept this in my drawer this week and I just found it now and tried it and it was amazing!

Routine Help What’s something that has even slightly improved your TRULY oily skin

I know this question has been asked a dozen of times and i’ve gone through a lot of threads but i find a lot of them to be inflated with people whose skin was only oily because they were dehydrating their skin, damaging their skin barrier and so on.

So my question is directly to the people who are unfortunately truly very oily, and they know that because they’re oily now, they’ve been oily before they even did any skincare and they probably are oily elsewhere aswell (hair, ears etc).

Im wondering if you’ve found anything that you’re fairly sure has worked in reducing your sebum production, your experience with it, and after how many weeks did you notice progress. Every response appreciated!

Routine Help Winter moisturizer suggestions

My face gets extra dry during the winter and my Vanicream moisturizing lotion does not seem to do enough. I have tried the thicker Vanicream moisturizing cream, but that seems to break me out. I have sensitive, dry and oily skin.

Looking for any recommendations for a thicker moisturizer to try and fix this issue!
Products with niacinamide break me out which makes this extra challenging!

Current routine:
AM: vanicream gentle face cleanser, panoxyl salicylic acid, vanicream moisturizing lotion
PM: vanicream gentle face cleanser, differin, vanicream moisturizing lotion

Routine Help Tell me your favorite bargain skincare products!

For years, I spent a lot of money on luxury-branded or at least relatively high-end and high-priced skincare products--at least selectively (especially vitamin C serums, eye creams, and neck creams). All along, though, I was aware that some of my drugstore-bought products were perfectly good, cost a quarter of the price, and didn't need to be improved upon. Recently, I've been conducting an experiment in which I'm (at least temporarily) replacing all my high-end products with lower-cost but highly recommended alternatives. I'm going to try this for a few months, and if at the end of that time it looks as though I've made no major sacrifice in terms of results, I'll be sticking with the routine indefinitely. So far, so good. Here are some of my favorites so far from my new lineup:

-BIODERMA Sensibio Micellar cleansing oil

-Timeless 10% Vitamin C Serum

-CeraVe Skin Renewing Eye Cream

-Gold Bond Age Renew Neck & Chest Firming Cream

-Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Gel Cream

-alba BOTANICA sheer mineral face SPF 50

-cocokind retinol body cream

Those are just highlights, and the list will grow!

But I'd truly love to hear what your favorite budget skincare products are. Bring it on! Thank you!

Misc Thank you!

Heya kiddos! I just want to thank everyone for their questions and replies. I have been doing a serious routine for about a year and started tretinoin about 6 months ago. Because of everything I have learned about skincare from you all, I received my first compliment tonight! They said my skin looked great and it had a nice glow. I got a lump in my throat. Thank you again everyone! 💜✌️
