I don't think I've ever heard someone say waste paper basket. It's just the garbage.

And people call eyeglasses “glasses” 90% of the time unless they specifically need to be specific. But oh don’t let the truth get in the way of an incredibly unfunny joke repeated 10 times.

I don't think I've ever even heard anyone ever say eyeglasses before, pavement is a different word from sidewalk (pavement can be just a square of concrete) and no one ever says Waste Paper basket

I think mostly in the US, when I hear people using pavement, they're using it to refer to the building material, using it as a synonym for concrete, than the location you walk.

Yeah I said 90% to be conservative, but thinking about it, even that’s too low. Only situation I can think of where someone says eyeglasses is in like commercials when theyre purposefully being distinct for legal reasons.

Yes, or maybe to differentiate and make clear that they are talking about vision versus drinking glasses or something. I wanted to find this clip funny, but it’s not because it’s mostly inaccurate.

Maybe to distinguish them from sunglasses

Eyeglasses vs Sunglasses. I guess they just call them all glasses? Describe your lost shades, um they are polarized glasses that are dark. Just say Sunglasses lol

Brits haven’t come up for a word for “comedy” yet.

I say "eyeglasses" to differentiate from "sunglasses" or "safety glasses".
