These posts all have the same issue, they completely don't understand how people lived. They see tv and the brady bunch all flying to hawaii and think everyone did that. I'm 51 and in my childhood eating out was rare, nobody flew anywhere on vacation and people drive the same cars for so long it's how you knew who was coming down the road. The only people I knew who "lived like rock stars" were single males who had no kids and had the boss job at the factory.

I remember my dad in the 1980s, working as a police officer, with my mom working as basically a secretary, barely making ends meet with three kids. I still remember when my dad said that he had to buy used tires for his car because he couldn't afford new ones. It's both funny and embarassing for the posters of such nonsense to actually believe what they are spouting.

Worse than believe it, to explain to people who actually lived it that they didn't actually live that way.

Young people would be outraged if we invalidated the actual lived experiences of the unhoused, people of color, LGBTQ, etc.

Yet they have no problem mansplaining to an entire generation of people what their own lives were like and how everything was easier for them all.
