Ace Combat 8 vs Star Wars Galactic Racer

I'm a big fan of racing games. I absolutely loved Ace Combat 7 when I beat it on my PS5 last year. I genuinely cannot decide between the two so I guess the question is which should I buy first? Of course with only Ace Combat 7 to go off of, 8 would be a bit more interesting to pick, at least at first. But Galactic Racer is 10 bucks cheaper and honestly I've never been a huge fan of rogue like elements. I am willing to go out of my comfort zone and give it a try though. Heard GR gets compared to the Burnout series, if that's true this is gonna rock.

Massive fans of both franchises here. I would assume racer will be cheaper faster than ac8. So maybe wait for sale and enjoy ac8 now, the newest entry in one of the all time greatest series of video games

I’ve got both and would just like to say you’re going to have a fantastic time with both! Galactic Racer is the closest thing we’ve had to a new Burnout which is super fun. While I liked the last Ace Combat, I’m loving this one.. seems like a big improvement in terms of mission variety

I'm playing through Ace Combat 8 now, it's absolutely amazing.

I saw Vinesauce play some of the Galactic Racer and it looks cool but I'm not sure if it has enough variety to pay full price for.

Neither genre has been my thing but I got both. I'm looking Ace Combat more but I have only played like 3 missons. Galactic Racer is good but I'm not great at it and it just hasn't pulled me in as much as Ace.

Played both, and Ace Combat is way better. Galactic racer is not bad, is just not worh its normal price tag, only get it on a deep discount

Galactic racer is really shallow. Almost no customization and you don't really get your own speeder/racer to drive. It also has really extreme rubber banding. Ive been seeing people I wrecked and blew up literally 8 seconds ago passing me like nothing happened. That being said the racing itself is super fun and super fast.

I finished my first run in AC 8 and then got Racer. I still go back and forth. You'll be able to as well.

Galactic racer does have the rogue like aspect to it - starting runs, getting little upgrades as you go along, then losing and being able to add small permanent upgrades and starting a run again. But to be fair, any racing game has a repetitive aspect to it, so that shouldn't really be a huge factor.

The biggest thing about galactic racer that I don't see discussed about is that, more than being a racing game,once you start getting good at it, it's a game about systems management.

Keeping track of your boost and your ramjet, and then deciding whether you should go through a heated tube to defrost your vehicle so that it can steer, or stay out of the heated tube to keep your engine cool so you can keep it full throttle.

Most racing games you end up in this zen-like Flow State where everything is working properly and the world kind of floats around you . That never happens in galactic racer. you are always doing 10 things with your adrenaline flowing.

I refunded Galactic racer after I realised how bad the rubber banding was. In a 4 lap race I’m pretty sure you could sit still for 2 then use the catch up to win,
