Tore my meniscus, so I built a free way to hear Seattle’s next two weeks of shows before they happen. Would love feedback
Hey r/SeattleMusic,
I recently tore my meniscus, which means a lot of couch time. I’ve been using it to build something I’d actually use myself: 2 Week Soundcheck (2weeksoundcheck.com).
It started as a selfish project. I live in Frelard and wanted to go to more shows at the small rooms near me, like Conor Byrne, Sunset Tavern, Tractor Tavern and Hidden Hall. The problem was that I usually didn’t know anyone on the bill. So I made a playlist with the top three songs from every artist playing in the next two weeks, in show order. You hit shuffle, and when something grabs you, you listen more and hopefully go see them.
So far it’s working. I’ve found a few bands I’d never heard of, and I’m planning to go to Old Coast at Sunset or Young-Chhaylee at Conor Byrne this Saturday because of it, bad knee and all.
Based on feedback from friends/colleagues, it’s grown into:
- A Seattle-wide playlist delivered every Sunday covering 20+ venues, from Sunset and Black Lodge to the Crocodile, Showbox and Benaroya
- A Frelard playlist for the Ballard/Fremont rooms, openers included
- Seven genre playlists if you only want folk, only electronic, and so on
- Every show in the next two weeks on one page, which you can filter by date, neighborhood, venue or genre, with a preview button for each headliner
- A free Sunday newsletter with a link to the new playlists
It’s free. The playlists are on Spotify, and each issue has a free link to copy them to Apple Music or YouTube Music.
Here’s what I’d love feedback on:
- Venues I’m missing, especially small rooms
- Whether the playlists actually help you find shows
- Anything broken or confusing on the site
- Which neighborhood should get its own playlist next

Thanks for checking it out. Tell me what you think, good or bad.
