This subreddit has ruined our idea of a "good" SAT score

Everyone on this subreddit seems to do extremely well in their SAT.Usually I always see posts about 1400+ and rarely any lower. This may have significantly inflated our ideas of a good SAT score. When I got my 1460 I thought I did very badly because every other post on the subreddit was a 1550+ and the ones getting 1450's were the ones complaining that their test scores were lower than practice tests. This made me feel ashamed to even post about my 1460.But the national average is actually 1045 anything above a 1100 can be considered above average. The reason this subreddit seems so different is because the ones who bother to be a part of this community are the ones who care more and prepare more for the SAT.The average person here probably scores much higher than an average person around the world. So do not let this subreddit make your score feel insignificant.anything over a 1350 is over the 90th percentile and should be classified as a great score.

Oct SAT scores tomorrow

I just wanted to say, best of luck to everyone who is receiving their October scores tomorrow. You should be proud of yourself for taking the test.

If you’re a junior, I hope your score is what you want, and remember that you still have time to retake it. If you’re unhappy with your score, you have plenty of time to study the sections you struggled with and improve.

If you’re a senior and this was your last chance, I hope that you are happy with the outcome. If not, remember that you are worth more than a standardized test. Your entire application for college isn’t dependent on this score, even if it feels like it is. You could technically retake in November, but if this was your last chance, you should be proud of yourself for escaping the SAT cycle and being done with all of this. Regardless of what it ends up being, you should know that you will end up exactly where you’re supposed to be for college (if you plan to go) and one test won’t ruin anything.

You all did it! Congrats, and I hope when you check your scores tomorrow you have something to celebrate. ❤️

I need at least 1470 on the SAT, yet non of my practice tests are close enough. I already took one gap year and if I fail I will unwillingly be drafted to the army.
Hope my october SAT will turn out to be good. BLESS RNG🙏

Help me !! First time taking sat

Hey, I’m a high school senior and an international student preparing for the SAT.

I was pretty chill about the test because I had decided to take a gap year lol. My parents were okay with my decision, but now, all of a sudden, they’ve changed their minds, and they’re asking me to take the SAT in November and December.

Ngl, my starting score was around 1110 (600 Math and 510 Reading and Writing, I think). After putting in some serious work on Khan Academy, Bluebook, One Prep, etc., I’ve managed to get up to a 1450!

My Math score is going pretty well now, usually around 750, but Reading and Writing is still my weak point, especially the longer passages. I usually run out of time during Module 2, which really hurts my score.

I’m aiming for at least a 1530. Is that realistic, considering my current score and the time I have left before the November SAT?

For those who’ve been in a similar situation, what strategies, resources, or tips helped you improve your Reading and Writing score, especially with time management?

I’d really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Anyone else get lower on online tests?

So I got a 1430 for bluebook test number 7 but when I do tests online for eg on one prep, I get scores like 1370,1330,1320. I was wondering if such occurrences are often.

Also which test mimic the real SAT more? Bluebook ones or online ones?

Hey guys, I need some tips

My current SAT score is around 950 (Math: 590, Reading and Writing: 360)
Do you think it’s possible to reach 1350+ in 2 months? I’m willing to study hard every day
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

How many questions can you get wrong and still get at least a 1500?

I think I got maybe 8 questions wrong in the whole test. Maybe 9 but I highly doubt it. But I also got 8 questions wrong on Practice test 7 and still got a 1530 so I don't know if i should be hopeful or not. I know I aced math module 1. And at most I got 4 questions wrong in module 2 although I might have guessed one or 2 correctly. Then in module 2 I guessed the answers on like 3 or 4 questions I can't remember honestly. I'm just really unsure

Sat advice for someone taken out of school.

I’m 20 and was taken out of traditional schooling in 6th grade for medical reasons. I’m currently rebuilding my academics, especially math, through an intensive remedial course during my gap year. After that, I plan to start community college and eventually apply to transfer to a strong university.
I’m planning to take the SAT in about two years, and my goal is 1500+. I know that’s ambitious given my starting point, but I’m committed to putting in the work.
How would you recommend preparing over that time? Should I focus entirely on my foundations for now, or introduce SAT-specific practice along the way? I’d especially love to hear from anyone who started with significant math gaps and eventually scored well. What helped you most?

Advice wanted

I’ve never taken the SATs and I’m abit worried I won’t get a high enough score to apply to my dream University.

I have more or less a year until my applications are due and was hoping to get around a 1400 although the application requirements are 1300.

I was wondering how many times I should expect to take the SATs to get my ideal score and how much should I expect to score my first time?

Practice accuracy

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

So i am planning to take the november SAT and i started preparing for it from September i think, but i've been so busy, i didn't do much QB questions and did few Khan academy units of math.

My main focus is actually math so i don't care much about RW but i appreciate having a good score.

Anyway, i took the practice test 4 two times and last time i took no°5 (skipped english)

Taking 4 two times isn't something i consider accurate as i remembered some answers but the jump to 720 was a quite a surprise knowing that i barely studied and btw i'm good at math, i've got few problems with math vocab and geometry things i guess.

So what do y'all think? Is it a bit accurate? Heard some people saying 11 is accurate so i'm gonna take it ASAP.

Btw i need to get a high score in this test cuz the university I'm applying to closes admissions in december which means i have only this chance

How do people balance ECs, school, and studying for the SAT??

Hi!

I'm currently a junior and I've been pushing off studying for the SAT for quite a bit now. I grinded during the summer but I've had horrible timing when I wanted to take the SAT because I have competitions right near both the October and November SATs. I really want to take my first one in December because my school offers one in March, but I know that it will be really hectic that time.

A lot of my senior friends are just spamming ACTs and SATs right before college apps this year and I really don't want that to happen to me, because I get incredibly anxious with deadlines and everything. I would greatly appreciate any advice, I think I have a solid foundation but I really just need some words from people who were able to juggle studying during the school year.

Thank you!!

Is an hour of studying per day enough? And how do you improve pacing?

Basically, like everyone else in this subreddit, I want to achieve at least 1500+. I just wanted to ask this since I feel like I'm not doing much. I want to raise my current score of 1380 (630 English, 750 Math). My current routine is just doing QB, Reading Erica Meltzer's Critical Reading Book (which helped), and then also reading like 1-2 scientific articles. For QB I do about 10 on hard. I am willing to increase the number of questions I do. I do this for 6 days a week. I started this about like a week ago and on my most recent practice test I got a 690. (11 questions wrong, all in Module 2)

Also, another question is that I want to improve my pacing since I am very VERY slow on doing hard questions. Even in practice tests, like I get the right answer but it takes a while for me to complete the questions (esp in module 2) so I want to get better at that as well! Thank you!

(I am taking the December SAT).

Just willing to hear any feedback/criticism about this routine! If there is anything that I can improve about this I am very happy to do so.

SAT Study Plan Help

Hey guys! I am a junior who just took the Oct SAT (still waiting on my score but not expecting much). What I did before the Oct SAT was just Khan Academy (I mastered everything and got a full mark on both course challenges) and one Blue Book practice test (660 R&W and 700 M).

I am planning on taking the Nov and Dec SAT, and I am aiming for a 1550+, so I was wondering what should i do? I am doing 10 R&W questions and 10 M from the QB a day (2 medium 8 hard) 5 days a week. Then I spend a day reviewing my mistakes (usually 1-2 mistakes a day), then a bluebook test once a week and reviewing it.

Does anyone have any aditional tips? Or should I change anything? What study plan worked for you guys (1500+ scorers)?

Thank you!
