I have recently seen something posted in a group chat that gave me immediate pause. An unforgivable act committed by the leadership of what was once one of the most popular servers on the hub.

Some context: ArcanaObscura - often known for playing Mikela Tauvi - passed away recently. RIP. They were a lovely, positive person who deserves all respects that have been paid to them. They were a prolific pixel artist who took pleasure in making free pieces of other player's characters, characters that left an impression on them. Their loss is a tragedy that will be felt for a long time, and anyone they touched deserves to have the ability to pay their respects.

The Nova Sector leadership - upon who's discord the memorial sits - disagree with this sentiment. They claimed that "even banned players" could come and post on the memorial. As should be the case. A memorial is sacred ground, neutral territory. You put aside petty grudges and egos and allow people to pay their respects.

DeeDubya was a well-respected member of Nova Sector. They gained a positive reputation among its playerbase, while attempting to affect positive change in the community. They were involved in shaping policy, development, and basically everything beyond being an actual admin. Eventually, as the community leadership resisted the positive change, they grew tired, and more critical. This eventually resulted in ex-headmin Moonridden ordering their ban without notice or due process. They performed this ban because they were afraid of DeeDubya's charisma and following, by their own admission. This was all part of a series of machinations on Moonridden's part to seize complete power over the server - which later culminated in a failed coup that split the community even further. DeeDubya was never allowed to appeal, or even rejoin the discord.

Upon finding out about the passing of ArcanaObscura, DeeDubya requested the ability to post in the memorial thread, as well as make an appeal for their unjust ban. Now, you can debate the validity of the ban all you'd like, but one thing is clear: They should have been allowed to pay their respects to a fallen spaceman. In the above showcase of all of ArcanaObscura's art, DeeDubya's characters showcase twice. This wasn't just a random person to them. Even if they were, denying them the ability to pay their respects is abhorrent behavior only taken by the lowest forms of life in this world.

If you are a Nova Sector player, stop. These are the people that run your server. These are their morals. You deserve to know. Everyone deserves to know. The memory of ArcanaObscura deserves better than what these people have given them.

Bastion Station is a "M&RP" - "Mechanics & Roleplay" server, what does that mean?

That we want to preserve the sanctity of the game's mechanics, honouring it as much as much as we enjoy roleplay! This game was made to be fun- and it is!

Our rules are quite relaxed so long as you're not doing the exact same gimmick time after time- And if it's funny and everyone's having fun, we will let some things slide! We do rule harshly against slurs, offensive, or sexual content, though a bit of innuendo or playful jokes are fine.

We're currently a fork of Monkestation with piss and farting removed, along with the removal of metacurrency and lootboxes. We have revolutionaries returned, with many other projects starting in the works that will individualize our server as our own in time.

I would love to curate a community that is kind and pleasant to one another, even if we blow eachother up quite violently in round! Because death is to be expected in SS13, we are experimenting with things like respawns, to help mitigate the bitterness and salt after dying. We hope everyone has a fun time!

We also have a "Game Master" role, which takes control of dynamic/storyteller and paces the round based on what players are doing in round. They have been directed to "enhance" the shift for players, and help players do unique gimmicks and stories from round to round! They will respond to prayers, faxes, opfors, etc... So far it's been great for everyone involved!

Last call for alcoho-BLLLEEUUURRGGHH

Finished this last night. Primary computer on the mend so it's a next day drop.

What is actually different between the two? Like I've downloaded the beyond launcher from Steam and I see the high server pops, but then go to byond and everything looks kind of dead that isn't an erp server. What is the draw?

We all know the history of English SS13 (exadv1, gibbed, hobnob, openss13, goon, baystation luna, r4407, tg, /vg/)

What's the history of Russian SS13? Russian servers like SS220 and SS1984 are consistently at the top of the Byond hub

It always stinks whenever you roll as an antag you don't have much experience in and end up flopping the round

Just wondering a good way to get some practice in?

I would like to hear your thoughts on where non-erotic english language roleplaying ON A SPESSSTATION is kept alive. Any pointers to which project/server to try is appreciated, I haven't played in a while and my girlfriend wants me to introduce her to the game.
