Rosacea type 2 or clogged pores? Spoiler

I have no clue what the bumps on my face are. My derm told me I have rosacea type 2, I’ve tried azelaic acid and doxycycline and both haven’t worked. I have super sensitive skin and the azelaic acid just seemed to make my skin more sensitive. I recently started ivermectin but I’m so tired of trying new things and nothing working. Im wondering if they are clogged pores and I’m treating it as rosacea type 2 instead?

ROSACEA SUCKS The official second medical opinion: Reddit Spoiler

I think I got bad medical advice, or at the very least, dismissive. I have rosacea on the bridge of my nose, and it’s really not bad. There are many cases worse than mine, and I’m fortunate in so many ways. I don’t wanna make it sound like it’s devastating to me in anyway.

But I do get annoyed whenever someone tells me, “Oh, you were out in the sun this weekend, huh?” Or I get a lecture about sunscreen because they noticed that my nose is always sunburnt. I have a very people forward job, so I meet with people a ton, which means lots of opportunities for amateur Sherlocks to deduce that I must have been outside in the sun recently. 🙄

The dermatology PA I met with said that there wasn’t much that could be done. I could wear makeup to hide it, or maybe try some creams to lessen it. When I asked what creams I should search for, I was just told anything that would purport to lessen the redness. Okay? I then asked about lasers or surgery or something (I dunno, I was just asking), and I was told that all that would be left is a bunch of scarring.

Listen, I’m fine to a life of random “oh, sunburnt, eh?” comments if really need be, but I’d also like to cut them out if possible. I’m all ears (eyes?) for any advice.

What to try next? Spoiler

I’m trying to get some of this redness down. I’ve been using azaleic acid for the last 6 months, first twice a day. Then three months ago, added metro gel in am and azaleic acid in the pm before my moisturizer.

I have a derm appt tomorrow. What should I ask to try next? I don’t feel like these two things have made any noticeable difference. I want to knock it out but I’m nervous of trying things that will make it worse.

ROSACEA SUCKS Rosacea Type Help Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

Can someone who has had a similar type rosacea help me? I went to a Dermatologist who just essentially said I have rosacea and prescribed doxycycline, which did not work, then that practice closed. I then tried Prosacea gel from CVS, which kind of helped, but didn’t do much for the redness. I’ve tried a gentle exfoliating pad, goats milk soap, and moisture barrier cream which just makes my red cheeks extra red and shiny.

I’ve been struggling with this condition the last couple years, maybe longer, and I’m reaching my wits end. Should I give Ivermectin cream a try? Should I try laser treatment? Can someone with a similar type list the products they had success with?

Skincare Unable to source finacea anywhere in the UK. Has anyone found an alternative?

I’ve been using finacea gel for the past few months and it’s really helped my skin. Unfortunately I can’t find any in stock in the UK. I’ve asked friends to get some in Spain and they can’t find any stock there either. Sadly I’ve run out of it now.

I’ve used skinoren in the past and I didn’t think it helped. There’s something about finacea gel that works really well with my skin. Has anyone found a product that works the same?

Does anyone know of a moisturizer with similar ingredients as the Eucerin Ultra Sensitive soothing care for normal to combination skin ? Works wonders for my type 1 but breaks me out so preferably without the squalane or Cetearyl Alcohol

I also don’t tolerate Shea Butter, Ha or Niancinamide and any form of Aloe Vera. It’s a shame this moisturizer worked good but it’s bad for acne prone skin. The ingredients of the Eucerin are: Aqua, Squalane, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Methylpropanediol, Tapioca Starch, Arginine HCL, Cetearyl Alcohol | 4-t-Butylcyclohexanol (Trans-Isomer), Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Carbomer, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Hydroxide

PP What is your experience with Rosacea

Hello everyone! I wanted to get your thoughts on rosacea and hear about your experiences.

I'm 26 years old, and a few months ago, I noticed a red line under my eye. I tried different things on my own, including lemon juice at one point, which irritated my face even more. I also tried calendula but eventually stopped.

I finally went to the doctor today, and she told me I have mild rosacea on my cheek. She mentioned a pill that I would need to take for three months. I decided against it for now, and she prescribed me some creams instead.

I'm trying not to stress too much about it, but I also don't believe everything happens for no reason. I asked the doctor whether the redness could come back even after treatment, and she said it could.

I've had acne since I was around 16, and I remember it getting much worse when I started working out, drinking protein shakes, and eating a lot of food to bulk up. To get rid of the acne, I eventually took prescription medication for about six months.

That experience, along with how much my mindset has changed since then, has made me think more about the relationship between diet, lifestyle, and health.

I know the healthcare industry is also a business, so I'm interested in understanding the underlying causes of problems rather than automatically reaching for medication. At the same time, I'm not against doctors or medicine. I understand that if you break a leg, injure your back, or have trouble walking, medical professionals can be extremely important.

I just think there are two different sides to health: treating injuries or urgent medical problems, and understanding and managing longer-term issues that might be influenced by our diet, environment, habits, and overall lifestyle.

With rosacea, I'm wondering whether there could be something deeper going on. I've experimented with a carnivore diet before, and I currently eat a lot of eggs and sourdough bread. I've also been reading about the gut microbiome and wondering whether it could play a role in skin problems.

I'm aware that medications can have side effects, and I'd rather understand the benefits and risks before making a decision.

I've also seen people recommending raw diets, but I'm not really convinced, especially because of the risks of eating raw meat.

I'm not trying to obsess over my health or find a problem with everything. I just want to understand my body better and make informed decisions instead of blindly accepting that certain problems are simply something I have to live with.

For those of you who have dealt with rosacea, especially if it started in your twenties, have you noticed any connections with diet, gut health, or lifestyle changes? Have you found anything that genuinely helped, whether it was prescription creams, changes to your diet, or something else?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences and what has or hasn't worked for you!

Onreltea (brimonidine) + Finacea

Has anyone ever been prescribed both for redness from rosacea?

The first time I used this combo, the redness on my cheeks literally disappeared. It was like magic. But ever since that first time using it, it’s never been the same. And since then after it’s worn off my cheeks are even more red than before…

I don’t have any pustules or bumps from rosacea ONLY red skin. Oh and the Finacea makes my skin tingle and sting for quite a bit. I apply Onreltea first, wait until it’s completely dry, then apply Finacea, wait until that’s completely dry, then add moisturizer and sunscreen. But at the steps of applying Finacea and moisturizer, my skin tingles and stings for quite a while.

Do I keep powering through and apply both? Or should I just stick with the Onreltea?

P.S. I forgot I also have Altreno in my routine. My skin is red, irritated, and for the first time my skin is so dry it looks scaly…

Has anyone had skin like this and overcome it?

Its a cycle I experience. It gets calm and then gets worse and recently its just been getting worse and worse. All I use is

Prequel gleanser PM
Aveeno Oat cleanse PM
Avene tolerance cream PM wait 10 min
Soolantra

AM
Splash water in morning
Hyaluronic acid or Beta Glucan
Avene tolerance cream
Dr sams flawless tint spf50

Ive been struggling witj bad skin for four years now and im not sure if this is even rosacea atp. I dont get blackheads or whiteheads and its always the cheeks. My skin does flare up in heat, embarrassment and strong acids. Its like a baby.

Ive tried sulfur, soolantra , azaelic acid (which worked wonders years ago but now nothing works including finacea) , benzoyl peroxide but nothing works at all and im tired.

Redness in winter Spoiler

Post image
2 Upvotes

The past three fall/winter seasons when the temperature falls below 40 degrees Fahrenheit my face has been turning red, specifically my cheeks. I’ve tried a doctor’s prescription that didn’t work. Also, I’ve tried the following beauty products below (not all at once). I use the first aid beauty for my daily moisturizer and the prequel face wash for my sensitive skin. The other products I’ve tried on separate days, but my redness is consistent. Also, I work outside/in cold temps as a construction worker.

Does anyone have any recommendation for a barrier treatment or a moisturizer that will help? Thank you!

Looking for recommendations Spoiler

My skin has been like this for years but at random times it will flare up really bad. When I touch my face it feels very rough and like scales. I have used doxycycline in the past which worked really well but it’s not sustainable to take it long term as it ruined my gut health. Does anyone have any topical treatments they recommend or any types of supplements? Hoping to stay away from taking an oral medication again. I also get a lot of hormonal breakout along my jawline but the rest of my face just seems to be these tiny white pimples or closed comedones.

Does anyone have any topical treatments they recommend, face washes or any types of supplements?

Thankyou.

Ocular Demodex/ocular rosacea?? Spoiler

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've had what I believe to be type 2 rosacea for a few years now. I use Azealic acid and sulphur to keep it manageable but it never fully goes away (cyclical).

3 days ago I got some bumps on my eyelids, like very small papules and the skin felt a little rough. Since then the "rash" had spread below my eyes and is creeping out from the tear duct a little more each day. Some of the bumps have a small whitehead on them but I would never pop since rosacea bumps are painful and it makes it worse.

Also: my eyes have become itchy, dry feeling, and like there's an eyelash stuck in there. As you can see they aren't bloodshot or too swollen and I've been cleaning them so I can't tell if there's crusty buildup. The itch is driving me crazy.

Could this be demodex infestation?
(Along with the rest of my rosacea?) Something else?

TIA
