In the year XX20, a meteor containing a volatile mineral known as Dragonite struck the Arashon Desert. Unlocking the power of Aether, humanity mastered faster-than-light travel, expanding across the stars into a new era of deep-space colonization.

To maintain order across the expanding frontiers, four powerful empires were forged: USSA, Einhorn Entertainment, Piotr, and Tenpa. But peace didn't last. Power struggles, corporate greed, and resource hoarding tore their treaties apart. As the empires scrambled to control the remaining Dragonite reserves, the forgotten lower-classes took to the stars. Space pirates, outlaws, mercenaries, and bounty hunters were reborn... all chasing the ultimate cosmic legend: The Galactic Leyline.

Many ventured into the deep unknown searching; few ever returned. Most gave up. But there’s always a minority.

Humans used to worship dragons, believing they were deities sent by their Gods to look over the land and act as divine judgement. When human populations were small in numbers, they would pray to the beasts and offer sacrifices or payments for protection, longevity, and bountiful harvests.

But humans live such short lives and they change rapidly, traditions, stories, and folklore die out within a single dragons lifetime.

It has been about 500 years or more since draconic worship was forgotten...

Since that time, the tales of these mighty mythics have warped into twisted horror stories. These creatures coming down in the middle of the night and raining fire onto settlements, kidnapping children and devouring wives.

People have honed their smithing skills, making strong swords that can pierce the hardest armored body. Shields that can block the hottest blast. Spears that can can reach the inner organs of the largest. Giant ballistas that can rain down upon the swiftest, and armor that cannot be broken by the strongest. Humanity's threat to mythic-kind had suddenly been realized, something unfathomable for these creatures that had existed since the dawn of time.

Though, far and few in between, smaller towns still worship these dragons and live honestly with them side by side. By outsiders, these lizard-loving people have been corrupted by evil forces and need purification. If these folk ever strayed into other towns they needed to keep their heads down, and keep their heritage secret unless they wish to test the tolerance of the majority.
