I returned from mountain biking today, put my car in the garage and locked it.
One of my kids walked in the garage and said my car was on. The doors were locked, nobody was in the car yet all the displays were lit up. They soon shut themselves off. Went back in and noticed the gear guard guy pop-up and then a few seconds after all the displays lit up again.
They were all in the same state I left the car in with the current drive stats still up, even the rear was on.
I hard reset the car and haven't checked on it again.
Edit:
before anyone asks, the Ghostbusters switch was off.

The pace of this update rollout is maddening and disappointing. I don’t have connect+ (I know, i know), and I understand those “premium” members getting the update first. A few days is reasonable… but come on. Crickets the last few days is absurd.

My wife is stuck and the car doesn’t start. She did a soft reboot already. Waiting for it to start. Anyone else?
Update: The soft reboot did not work. She did a hard reboot, went for a 5 minute walk, came back, and her cell phone permitted the vehicle to get engaged into drive.

Anyone have any experience with cleaning inside the vents that are on the rear of the center console above the rear screen in a R1 gen 1? My dog threw up all over the vents and screen and I need to get inside the vents to clean or my truck is going to smell really bad for a long time. Thanks in advance

I can't for the life of me find the easy entry/exit button in the new software. I've looked everywhere... Any ideas?

Does anyone know of a tutorial on how to take the dash apart yet? So I can isolate and figure out how to stop this rattle?
Living in the streets of LA, I hear every single noise.
Thanks in advance.

Should I be able to hear any sounds outside my R1T when triggering any of the current scenes in the app? The different trailer videos I keep seeing make it seem like that’s the case, but mine isn’t doing that.

Rivian App R2 Owners guide never loads. Just a yellow spinner...

When did the move to lock the basic trip planner in the app behind Connect+ happen? That’s pretty disappointing, honestly. I’d gladly pay for Connect+ if it was worth it (it’s not to me at this point) and I feel they know that and just moved the one thing people use to try and entice new subscribers.
Guess I’ll use other means cause I’m not paying out of spite now.
Edit: It’s still there, just a round about way to do it than before. The “Go” button sends to the car rather than “Send to your Rivian”. But you immediately get a message about not being able to edit or view without Connect+ so that’s not very intuitive.

I had Rivian assistant working well but with the latest update, it never seems to connect even if I’m on great 5G data.
I’m on update 36.41

2025 R1S Tri here. I've never had an issue installing an update before.
Nothing seems to work. it just fails every time with:
Installed with errors Service Support will reach out soon.
Has anyone else battled through this and resolved it?

Full disclosure: my son and I design and hand-assemble organizers for the R1 under the name OverSpec Designs. We shared this one last week in r/RivianR1S, and wanted to show it here too.
The armrest cubby came up a lot after our floor console: deep, open, and where chargers, sunglasses, receipts, and everything else end up in one pile at the bottom. My son took this one on himself. Over the last few months, he did the CAD, the test prints, and all the fitment iterations.

He set out to fix three things owners kept running into:

If you want to see it in motion, my son made a walkthrough video.
Fits R1S/R1T Gen 1 and Gen 2. The site link and full specs are in the video description.
Happy to answer questions. And if you have an idea for what we should build next, tell us: the floor console got better because people here told us what to improve.

Gen 2 R1T ~10,000 miles. Been like this sine the update. We got the 36.0 update and it works fine. The Halloween update activated as expected and is fun, but the "details" of the update are not avaliable when I click See details. Does this happen to anyone else? Happened on the previous update too. Then randomly one day the details showed up. Maybe they'll randomly show up some day for this update too?

This year I have lost a whoop charger and more recently my right airpod. Both of them slid down inbetween the seat and middle console. When I tried to reach for it, it went down further into the plastic cover under the drivers seat.
Has anyone had this happen to them?? I saw you could partially take off the drivers seat but im scared to break something.

I’ve been enjoying my early VIN Gen 1 since it was new. When Rivian Care began in Washington state a few months ago, I requested a quote. An email invited me to review pricing and options, but the quotes lasted only about 30 days. With roughly 6,000 miles remaining on my manufacturing warranty, I thought I had time to delay deciding between trading in for my R2 reservation or keeping the truck for a few more years. I opted for a service center inspection for piece of mind, which returned clear results apart from half shaft clicks and ting washers. I had my front dampers replaced under warranty last year. I inquired about subframe coverage since that was a significant concern—I have since learned it is excluded. I paused and considered my choices for a month or so, assuming I could request another quote later.
This week, I sought a new quote because I am 2,000 miles from the warranty ending, the initial offer had expired, and I have decided to keep my R1T for a few more years. I anticipated a price change for sure. Instead, I discovered the first quote was my only opportunity for the foreseeable future, and my window to buy a Rivian Care plan has closed. I feel somewhat puzzled and unsettled by this shift. Nowhere in the original quote email does it state that this was my sole chance to purchase a plan. Has anyone else encountered this? Is this standard practice?
My dash is constantly recognizing stop signs when I drive. Usually No Parking signs show up, but it's definitely not intelligent recognition.
Sometimes it's 2 signs next to each other, sometimes it's handicap signs, or signs at curves (i.e. not intersections).
These pics were literally just from today. From early morning school dropoff (6:30am) to my drive to work around 10:30am. I live 2 miles from work and school and there are a dozen, or more, false signs.
The recognition software needs a lot of work.

According to Rivian Assistant, this beta program will be released to select drivers in California and Florida starting in DECEMBER!
The website also states that AUTO PARKING and ON TO OFF RAMP features will be coming in “2026”!

I said what I said. There should be a larger clock or another one on the left screen.
The new UI is good in some ways but bad in others. Also not happy they took away Alexa. I used to be able to open my garage via voice command to Alexa and now that's gone (the button is unreliable and sucks)
Tesla automatically opens and closes upon arrival and departure. The fact that the little prompt pops up when you get close to your garage tells me they could easily implement a similar feature in an update.
The map feels squished now with the bar on the left. Should be customizable.
Feels like constant disappointment. They've ruined highway assist, it nags you constantly if you even look at the lane next to you.
Sharing locations from maps takes an eternity now. Horrible. Half the time it fails to share.
Do better, Rivian.

Hi guys, I am contemplating buying the R2 but concerned about the range. I have a 175-mile round-trip commute to work, 3x a week. 85% of the commute is on interstates with speed limits of 65–70 mph.
Do you guys think I can easily make the round trip on a full charge in the dead of Ohio winters?

Has anyone bought or even just seen one of these? It looks pretty nice, but the product page feels ai generated, and there's no mention of the kind of specific design elements I would expect to see for something made for the r1t.
Worse, I can't find any reviews of it anywhere. Seems like someone is just importing a Chinese ODM build, like so many RTTs are. If it is, it might be interesting to run down the manufacturer. Could probably get it a lot cheaper.

This recurring thread pops up on Thursdays for folks to ask their service related questions in.
We'll be trying to direct MOST of the "My truck is doing X, help!?" and "I just dented my bumper, is my truck totaled???" posts here.
Considering purchasing UHF. I know the options are $50/ month or a lump sum of $2500. If I start with $50/month, does any of that money go to a credit if I decide to switch to a lump sump later?
Or is paying for UHF dumb because it isn’t as intuitive as it should be for the cost?
Followup question: if paying monthly, is there any chance the monthly cost increases as Rivian adds features?
Thanks yall…. good talk.

I have a Gen 1 Rivian R1S, and I’m dealing with an issue where a trim piece is visibly popping up (video attached).
Here’s the timeline:
September 10, 2026: I dropped off the vehicle at the Rivian Service Center for this issue and panel issues that were popping off.
September 17, 2026: When I picked up the vehicle, I was told they needed more time to address the roof but fixed the other issues. They would arrange to fix it through mobile service.
Based on that conversation, Rivian had agreed to fix the issue under warranty.
Now: Rivian is telling me that it’s “normal” or within spec and just cosmetic.
Anyone have any experience here?
