If Pete Rose was still alive, do you think MLB would let him do the ads for Polymarket or FanDuel? š¤

He made the first ever bet when they opened the sportsbook place in cincy. I dont remember the name of the place but I remember watching him bet a dollar for the reds to win

Once a player is not a member of the union and subject to the CBA, MLB cant do anything to keep them from advertising for whoever they want.Ā Frank Thomas did ads for "testosterone enhancers" after he retired.
For the record, MLB players can advertise for gambling sites with many restrictions in place, mostly they can't directly encourage betting on baseball games, just general promo.

He was banned for life so the MLB would have no say in the matter. Being the degenerate that he was, heās do it.

Not for life, permanently. People always say a lifetime ban, but no, it was never given an expiration

True, but Manfred made it clear when he removed Rose that rule 21 does not apply to anyone who has passed. Therefore permanent and lifetime are interchangeable.
"In my view,ā Manfred wrote in a letter to Lenkov, āonce an individual has passed away, the purposes of Rule 21 have been served. Obviously, a person no longer with us cannot represent a threat to the integrity of the game. Moreover, it is hard to conceive of a penalty that has more deterrent effect than one that lasts a lifetime with no reprieve.ā
Decision on ineligibility status after death impacts Rose, others

That's the interpretation of the current Commissioner, and not the one that delivered the punishment. I'm also pretty sure Manfred made that comment after Trump said to remove Pete's ban. Just trying to make it look like he's not asking "how high?" when Trump says to jump

True he was a degenerate but on the field he was a king.

Being a great baseball player and having the most hits all time is nice but it doesnāt absolve him from what he did

Who cares. The franchise has gone 35 years without a playoff series win. Theirs grandparents out there that have not seen a playoff series win.

Pete Rose had sex with a minor when he was in his mid-30s.

Downvoted by pedophile protectors or pedophiles, which is the same thing, imo.

He sure would have had the app on his phone in the dugout when he was coaching. Would have made it so much more convenient for him. Reds up by 7, pull the pitcher, wait, need to use my phone first.

Pete never bet on his own teamā¦.to lose
Think what you want about the man, but his accomplishments are deserving of the HOF
The baseball HOF is a total sham
The career HR and Hits leaders are not in
7 time Cy Young winner with 364 wins. Not it
Player with 696 HRs. The 5th most everā¦not in

If he was alive it would have been him instead of Sydney Sweeney in that gambling commercial shot exactly the same.

Yeah because he was technically not part of the MLB anymore⦠they really couldnāt do anything about it
