its really crazy to see this number when im trying to scrape together to cover rent/groceries/ etc. What the fuck does someone need half a billion dollars for?

Especially when he did a famously bad job to the point that WB Discovery had to be sold because he had made it financially unviable to continue as is. Pretty much all of his big ventures underperformed or failed and he made some horrendous self-inflicted errors.
Like, it's one thing if you build something up and get rewarded with it's success. I can live with people getting fabulously rich that way. But it's another when someone is nepo baby or stumbles into a big job, bungles it, and flips into a fortune.
