Playing everything I throw at it, I have a 5080 desktop for any heavy games but laying in bed playing FC27, undisputed, PGA, rocket leauge man I should of got one earlier lol

Microsoft was a sneaky beaver and silently changed some behaviors behind Windows 11 Gaming Handhelds. And I think I can pinpoint this to KB5127648 (26300.9711), the security update subsequent to the initial 26H2 Feature Update build.

Tl;dr the changes seem to improve power-handling during sleep and proactively block out connection with accessories and other secondary devices.

I tested the following behaviors by switching DeviceForm between 6 (Detachable) and 46 (Gaming Handheld) on my ROG Flow Z13.

I know this is not driver or hardware related because that registry change is causing the sleep-wake behavior I see.

Previously, DeviceForm as 46 (no software tweaks or hacks used from GitHub, just a registry tweak after clean Windows install) displayed basically the exact same behavior as on my XBOX Ally X. Flow Z13 has not received any driver updates from ASUS and AMD recently. I think the below power changes may affect your devices since DeviceForm is auto set on XBOX Ally devices.

I'm listing some behaviors not available to the ROG Ally because I think Microsoft's changes may affect y'all.

Please help me confirm: Theoretically, if your device supports it,

• HID Keyboard devices that connect directly to Host Device (ex. via pogo pins) may no longer wake Host Device (may be relevant to some OneX devices).
• Some traditional notebook behaviors, such as lid opening actions if detected via magnets or hinge movement, may no longer auto wake the Host Device.
• Even when connected to AC Adapter directly or via a dock (ex. DG300), Host Device may no longer react to and wake up via activity from Bluetooth and USB devices.

There may be other power-related changes to your handhelds, exclusive to your device form factor, that you may not have realized. I imagine people who use Xbox Ally X mostly docked or connected to external monitor will be impacted the most.

Just bought this for 225 off marketplace was lucky i saw it first. I bought my dad a ps5 so he can finally game, he plays mobile legends permanently, and i was gonna buy some games too but then i saw this and instantly bought it, then watched some youtube videos glazing this machine. I resold the ps5 to recoup money and i know my dad would love this better so he can lounge anywhere gaming. (I built him a pc that he never used so i gave to my brother) anything i should do to make it the best gift? Ima get the gamepass trial on his birthday, but im not sure if i should get him other games anywhere else. What do u guys play the most?

I just got home from work and grabbed my ROG Ally to play some games. Suddenly, I started hearing this weird noise, and I noticed that the games I launched were running much slower than usual.
Everything was working fine before, so I’m not sure what happened. Has anyone else experienced something like this? Does anyone know what could be causing it?

ps: I did clean the fans but it still does the noises

so today i downloaded the latest graphics drivers and bios and my games run like sh*t now, plus the device just had its first total freeze after almost a year of running flawless (no response, had to hard-reset via power-button).

so far this update has been terrible, am i the only one who's experiencing issues on the xax?

edit: also: display touch function randomly stops working, severe framedrops during steam big picture, games crash, steam crashes too, the whole system feels very sluggish and unstable

Trying to delete windows login, however it is greyd out to toggle that off. I tryed command center and it said access denied as well. Any help here?

Secondly do yall recommend doing a full setup? Doc station, monitor, fan, controller/keyboard? If so any best recommendations?

Updated my Ally X(2024) with the new Armoury Crate and bios update and after playing a game for a while, my game freezes them the handheld shuts down and boots into bios. Anyone else have had an occurrence like this since the update or just recently?

Edit: I was poking around the bios settings and it said No Storage Device Present

I am looking to get a headset, mouse, controller and some other accessories for my ROG Ally X but I wanted to get opinions on which ecosystem is the one worth investing in... I like all my devices to sync if they have stuff like RGB lights or to be part of the same ecosystem if they use programs to control settings like iCue or Synapse.

I'm heavily leaning towards ROG just to make the compatibility the smoothest but I like the offerings from Razer and 8BitDo (particularly their transparent green Xbox stuff). Is there one eco system you've committed to over the others? Do you mix your peripherals? Looking to get some insight on other setups before I commit to the bit so to speak.

So I just got a rog xbox ally x earlier this month. I've completely reset windows and Uninstalled armory crate and reinstalled, and still nothing.

On all the preset tdp settings the fans do not turn on at all. Ends up getting really hot and thermal throttling. however in custom, the fans work perfectly fine. I've tried everything possible found on Google and still nothing. Using custom is fine but being able to one click ajust the tdp would be nice.

I also wanted to ask others that have the same device what kinda frames there getting cause it seems low to me.

Baldurs gate 3 (act 1) no matter my settings cannot get past a steady 45 frames. And exactly the same for destiny 2. Both can reach like 55 and occasionally 60 frames but it's like i can put ultra settings and get around 30fps, or super performance everything on low and 720p and only get like a 10-15 frame boost. Im running 8gb Vram.

Every possible update has been updated and my TDP in manual i set to 35 just to see what frames I can get. And it's super good temps too, im at like 60c-up to like 78c absolutely maxed out as I can.

my ally z1 extreme only displays with the dock connected to an external monitor and in device manager i get error 43 on the display adapter. when i boot it without the dock it stays on the rog logo but i can hear the windows boot up sound in the backround, im busy using the asus cloud recovery tool as a last resort since ive tried everything not hardware related but i dont know if that will help since i cant get into the bios either

hi there, I recently got a rog Xbox ally and all my games have worked fine besides skate, when opening the game after the boot screen the game will open on a black screen load for a couple seconds and freeze(photos attached). I’ve tried every solution I can find online including ones specific to my device, I’ve seen many photos and videos of people playing this game on these devices and i just don’t know why it’s not working! any help would be appreciated

I saw Galactic Racer was free to stream on Amazon Luna. I recently played through Dispatch on it with my Ally Z1E and had a great experience, so thought I'd try out Galactic Racer.

The controls don't work. Yes, I have it switched to gamepad mode, and Luna gives the "your controller is all set up" notification. It has significant lag (like half second) on racing controls. Maybe 2 seconds lag in the menu, and the inputs seem to "jam up" and then go through all at once. Some inputs don't work. Switching to the Desktop/virtual mouse control mode (I forget what that's called on the Ally), and the inputs that DO work have NO lag, so I don't believe it is a streaming latency thing.

This behavior is consistent between streaming via Edge or the Luna desktop application. Works great on my desktop PC.

Anybody else try this? Any ideas?

Hey guys i just installed the new steam os update i run steam os on my z1e and when i tried to play marvel rivals or overwatch the game would just crash mid match, then i tried forza horizon 4 and i noticed the framerate graph being really inconsistent and the game would slow down then ramp up.

Pre - update i didnt face these issues

Bought a Asus at bestbuy and everything worked except L3 pressed down. Returned it. Got a second 1 and someone stole the ssd card, Returned it. The 3rd one worked fine but for whatever reason I had to restart it sometimes because it was buggy. Now the Audio driver isn't be found no matter what. It just shut off on itself. Is this device easily hackable? Because if it's just a simple handheld with windows on it. Why is it having so many problems? The issue came after Armour Crate said I needed to update yesterday. I'm going back to bestbuy to return it. Should I waste my time getting a new one? So many bugs and having to restart and audio driver unable to be found is crazy. Is it fixed on the newer version or should I get a different Brand?
