Hey everyone,
I'm currently quite new to the hobby, but for my next purchase in the far future I want to buy like everything futureproofed so I don't have to keep buying new and new stuff that's incrementally better.
I get that for the battery and motor I can't just use the same ones for every plane, but for the other things like the ESC I'm a bit curious. I've been chatting with AI and it seems to be giving me super high recommendations and idk about them.
I eventually want to get into jets with like 70mm diameter EDF as like the "end goal"
It claims modern 6S 70mm EDFs pull 70A–80A+, so a 50A–60A ESC will fry or thermal throttle immediately.
It also says that
5A BEC will cause brownouts I was looking at the Turnigy Plush-32 100A which seems more than good enough, but AI warned its 5.5V/5A SBEC will sag and brown out the receiver when 6–8 servos and other electrics work together. It claims I strictly need an 8A+ BEC or an external UBEC that's good enough.
Any of this true? I just want to buy the best ESC I'll ever need for all projects. Can you guys recommend me some?
EDIT: I should have mentioned, basically for me it's more fun to design the planes. I'm studying aerospace engineering and I enjoy using the knowledge to build cool stuff. I'm fine with taking off once and immediately crashing every plane after flying for 5 minutes. Hence when I start designing a new model I plan to use all the old electronics (even if I have to rip my plane apart to get them). All my parts (excelt for some support) are 3D printed
