Ministerstwo Finansów looking for digital services: scam or not

Is there anybody who knows how government entities are supposed to choose vendors? I always thought that a tender is a must but there’s a situation that happened and got me wandering if it was a scam.

A guy sent an email to a design agency asking to call him back and saying that Ministerstwo Finansów needs a website. The agency called the guy and he said that he needs a website for a project under the Ministerstwo Finansów, mentioned needs like design and development (he even named a specific, yet outdated technology), and gave a budget. He also said that time is important and the process doesn’t include a tender.
He also asked to send him the sms with the email he’s gonna use to send the meeting link.

It was impossible to find the guy on the net but that’s not surprising.

Imo, it’s suspicious and I would rather expect a different flow and formal things like „request for proposal” , etc. I also think that the meeting link is mentioned too early?

Idk, curious to hear if anybody knows how those things are handled.

AI adoption in Poland and engineering work at Allegro — talks at WAWTech

Hey! Two talks in the WAWTech programme touch on how companies in Poland are using AI:

  • Michal Furmankiewicz will discuss lessons from working with customers in Poland and abroad on GenAI and agent adoption.
  • Piotr Ceranek from Allegro will describe using AI to analyse repositories and backlogs, including the limitations he’s encountered.

WAWTech is a two-day tech conference covering software development, AI and product work. It’s organised by DOU; I’m involved with the team.

The event takes place on 26–27 November 2026 at EXPO XXI in Warsaw. Details here for anyone considering attending.

Poland is second America?

As a person who lives in Poland, i saw so many takes that Poland is „second America” or „America of Europe” and i don’t really get where it’s coming from. There’s only thing that reminds me of American culture is the influencer stuff, but isn’t it all over Europe? I’d like to hear some opinions on this, whether why you agree or disagree and it’s an interesting topic to discuss. Probably it has been asked before on this subreddit, but i didn’t search it up here

Preferably in Poznań or Piła. I've heard Polish Starbucks doesn't have them but maybe there are some other cafes?

SHED Co-Living in Warsaw — an absolute joke of a company.

SHED Campus Living — an absolute joke of a company.
Let’s be honest, this is not how a serious accommodation provider should operate. It’s been two weeks, and I’m still waiting for my refund. Getting a response from these people is practically a full-time job. Emails go unanswered, calls are difficult to get through, and nobody seems capable of providing a straight answer.
Funny how everything changes when it’s time to take your money. Then they respond at lightning speed. But the moment they have to give your money back, suddenly everyone disappears. What a coincidence.
For a company that tries to present itself as a large, professional organization, SHED operates like some shady, amateur operation with absolutely no accountability. You cannot take people’s money instantly and then expect them to wait indefinitely when it’s time to return it.
The most frustrating part is not even the delay itself, but the complete lack of communication and basic respect for your customers. I shouldn’t have to chase a company for weeks just to get MY OWN MONEY back.
If you’re a student considering SHED, think twice before paying them. Everything might look professional until something goes wrong. Then you’re left chasing people who apparently have no problem ignoring you.
SHED, stop hiding behind silence and start taking responsibility. Return my money and provide an actual date instead of wasting my time. Absolutely disgraceful service.

On October 12, 1943 the Battle of Lenino took place. It was a baptism of fire for the newly formed Polish 1st Tadeusz Kościuszko Infantry Division, cześć i chwała bohaterom 🇵🇱

Despite heavy losses (over 500 KIA), the Polish troops managed to hold important positions, which later played an important role for Operation Bagration.

These heroes were in a difficult position, stuck between two evil regimes, and left with insufficient air and artillery support from the soviets. Despite that, they fought bravely, and many of them later took part in liberating Poland from the germans and the capture of berlin.

During the communist era, it was used for propaganda purposes (with the lack of soviet support being left out). After 1989 this battle seems to have been forgotten (with Polish Forces in the West and Warsaw Uprising taking its place as important events of the war), its veterans are sadly often portrayed as communist puppets.

Also, I want to add a disclaimer. This post is not a glorification of the USSR or modern-day russia. I simply want to honor the brave Polish veterans of WWII who fought for our freedom. It doesn't matter if they fought in the west or east, for me, they are all equal.

The city came second in Skyscanner's Travel Trends 2027 report, which ranks selected destinations by year-on-year drops in economy return airfares while also looking at hotel prices.

In Need of Cheese

I am a man who is in desperate need of Oscypek cheese.

My GF and I went to Krakow over the summer and went to Zakopane as one of the trips out of the city, and we had some Oscypek, but have not had any since. Both her and I CRAVE the cheese like we never have had any other food before. Does anyone have a place where one can buy something at least somewhat similar online or in person in the UK so that we can have something like it again? A plus if the source is in the South West of England.

Polish monkey torture ring leader jailed in UK

Bartosz Poklek, 30, has pleaded guilty to distributing videos of monkeys being mutilated, dismembered and clubbed to death to “zoo sadists” across the world.

Poklek, a Polish national living in south-east London, ran chat groups and shared thousands of “abuse on demand” videos and images. Some animals were clad as infants wearing ‘bonnets and nappies’ while being tortured.

Ms Kettle-Williams told the court Poklek, who styled himself as “BP” online, was “a controlling figure in what is known as the ‘monkey hate community’.” She said: “There are requests and conversations about how the death should be carried out after significant torture.”

On Friday, Poklek was sentenced by Judge Christopher Grout to three years and three months in prison. The judge described it as the most “horrific case of animal abuse” he had ever encountered.

Having served 12 months on remand since he was arrested, the judge noted that Poklek, who lived in Lewisham, south-east London, would likely be released on license within weeks because of the new early release policy, which allows offenders to get out of jail after serving a third of their sentence.
