Help with the Value of my Pokémon game!

Looking to see if anyone might be able to help give me a value on this! I’ve had since I was a kid (it was a birthday present and I got 2, opened one and kept the other). I know roughly what a sealed NiB one goes for but it’s hard to find any information on one in a blister pack. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Time to sell?

Post image

For those of you who sell cards on eBay, what has your experience been like? I’m especially curious about what protections eBay offers sellers if a buyer claims a card never arrived and how you handle those situations. I bought a ton of vintage during COVID when prices were still reasonable, and with prices up, I’m considering selling off my collection. I’m not in a rush to sell, but I’d like to hear from people who have actually gone through the process and any tips or things to watch out for.

Error Card Maybe?

Thumbnail

Hello, Everyone!

Hopefully this is the right sub for this, if not let me know and I can move it

I have this Pikachu that is clearly way off center, and I noticed the words that are usually on the bottom are cut off on the bottom of this card. And the words from the bottom of another card are at the top of this cards. I tried my best with the pictures, but hopefully you can see what I mean.

Would this be considered an error or misprint? If so, is it considerably more valuable because of this?

Thank you for any insight you can provide. Also, if I can take any other pictures that can help you out let me know, I’ll be happy to do so.

Double English exclusive

Thumbnail

In all of LC, Mewtwo stands out as a long-term jewel given that:

  1. The artwork, by Christopher Rush (Black Lotus artist) is an English language exclusive art (released as black star promo non holo, identical English card released in Japan as stamp rally promo, and also non holo legendary collection)

  2. The LC fireworks holo is notoriously an English only set/holo treatment

The layers of exclusivity and history behind this card in particular are unlike any other card in the set which have all been printed many languages and/or sets.

Prediction: What you’ll see in the coming years as big US money enters the space is the rise of English exclusives rather than the traditional Japanese exclusives of which there are many.

—-
The next card(s) to highlight is the Kids WB set: this set has already priced in its rarity as an English exclusive awarded set. Also distributed in the United States only.

—-
Lastly, the 2010 Pikachu World Collection US print (blue back) is a completely overlooked set containing another double English exclusive - English only USA Pikachu with EN back.

How long can vintage keep climbing???

I know it's a silly question but I'm getting the itch to sell. Currently have a 75 percent PSA offer

Is this a good buy right now?

Post image

I’ve been wanting to buy a first edition charizard for a while now and I’m finally in a position to be able to put out the money to get one. Ideally I would have liked a higher grade than a 6 but at this point that’s my budget for this card. Pop on it is 859 which seems high to me. With the recent prices of vintage is now a good time to buy this card or do we think prices may go down?

Would you make this trade? PSA 9 Van Gogh Pikachu + sealed products for PSA 10 Silver Tempest Lugia + $200

WHAT I’M TRADING:
PSA 9 Van Gogh Pikachu #085 — $871

Pokémon 151 Blooming Waters Premium Collection (Sealed) — $326

Pokémon Center Paradox Rift Roaring Moon ETB (Sealed) — $219

Pokémon Center Paradox Rift Iron Valiant ETB (Sealed) — $191

Total market value I’m giving: $1,607

WHAT I’M RECEIVING:
PSA 10 Lugia V Alt Art #186/195 (Silver Tempest) — $1,244
Cash — $200

Total value I’m receiving: $1,444

Difference: $163 in favor of the other person.

Values are approximate, using PSA estimates for graded cards and TCGplayer market prices for sealed products.
Would you make this trade? Is consolidating into one PSA 10 Lugia worth giving up the extra value? Which side would you rather have for long-term holding?

Hey guys.

I just got this slab in the mail from eBay. The back has a deep scratch that was not shown in the listing. Would you let it be or contact the seller?

Low pop - opportunity for 7,8,9?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Obviously mid era is blowing up and this card has risen significantly but are we about to see the Tyranitar ex holo from Pop series 1 explode even more with the first sale of a PSA 10 since April 2025? This is one of the lowest PSA 10 populations I’ve seen. Lowest list for a PSA 9 is $45000. How high could PSA 7’s go is my question? Could this reach gold star level similar to Mudkip? Probably not but worth speculating.

Are psa 9s / CGS 10 worth it?

Hiii. Just wanted to know if it’s even worth it. Or should I only aim at cgc pristine / Psa 10

What’s the consensus, is this birthday pika worth holding?

Post image
3 Upvotes

This pika is a vintage, japanese-exclusive promo featuring adorable art—the last inclusion of the “Natta Wake” series, a 4-part magazine including promo cards for sunkern, psyduck, jynx, and pika.

I picked this up for around 75k yen in a japanese card shop in.. 2025-ish? And it’s been sitting in my closet since. It’s already had a run, but I’m still seeing potential upside in this niche pika gorging on cake.

Given vintage’s current trajectory, the featured pokemon, the art, and its scarcity, I feel that this card could fetch a higher price, considering psa 9 copies are now cheaper than an aquapolis houndoom in an equivalent grade.

I’m most likely keeping it, but I’d like you guys’ second opinion. I have no qualms about selling it to reinvest, but there’s this nagging feeling that urges me to bank on the future of this card. What do you think?

To what extent are card packs and gambling the primary reason behind the pump in card value?

I came across this recent video from Goblin - the thesis is basically that companies like Gamestop are driving up value by placing outrageously high bids on slabs to package into their card packs. Gamestop recoups the difference between their bid and the "true" market value by selling lottery slots across many users for the slim chance of obtaining the slab. Not only that, Gamestop is actually incentivized to make outrageously high bids to pump the recent sale values to justify their pricing for card packs (i.e., making users believe that if they got the hit, they would actually be making their money's worth or more). Am I out of the loop and is this already well known? I'm also surprised this doesn't violate FTC regulations - the odds and expected value disclosures for these card packs are built on recent sale prices, which Gamestop is directly inflating in the first place...

Keep sealed or rip and grade?

Thumbnail

I know these are notoriously hard to grade and centering here is very off. But would you rip open and grade or keep sealed?

I’d keep sealed should I top loader it in the plastic?

r/PokeInvesting • • 16h ago

I found this when cleaning out my old childhood belongings; it seems to be in better condition than most ungraded I saw on eBay. I am new to this, what should I do?

Will XY & Sun and Moon sealed be the next mid era (ex-BW)?

These sets weren’t mass printed like sets SWSH-present and when these sets were being printed, there wasn’t nearly as much hype around the hobby as there is today. These same elements apply to ex, DPP, HGSS, BW and we all know how insane the prices are for sealed of that era. Can we expect XY-SM sealed to increase to the value ex-BW sets are today in the near future?

Legendary Collection Reverses

Safe to say LC Reverse Holos have had the biggest boom in the last couple of months, especially in the last week or two.

We’re seeing raw cards of mid-Pokemon and trainers sell for hundreds and hundreds of dollars in moderate-light play condition (not even NM).

Anything graded is especially spiking, adding on to that premium. We’re seeing cards graded 7 or higher enter 4 digits that you could have gotten for under $100 or close to raw LP/NM pricing just 6-12 months ago. This is unprecedented.

Nobody has a crystal ball of what will happen to these in the future , but this type of increase is unsustainable. I was hoping to generate a discussion on where we see this going, if simply having the reverse holo pattern from this set regardless of Pokemon/trainer are legitimate sales, or if this is just a wave of excitement and everyone getting in now.

XY Full Arts

They are pumping due to many people finding out that some of the top Pokemon have their first full arts in the XY era. Charizard ex #100 is notably the first full art Charizard card thus the current astronomical price.

I've always wanted the card, I love the art, but don't want to pay psa 10 prices but still have a graded one.
