Decisions have been made...our new AI policy.

Top mod and I have finally decided on some things and, well, it may upset a lot of people - and we understand why.

AI has been running rife in this group as we all know, and we've leaned slightly towards the "low AI side" while we worked out what the hell we'll allow or not allow and why, so we can actually moderate it fairly and with actual trainability.

And as we have been, and after studying what the other gametest groups are doing - it's pretty much clear what we have to do. Allow all AI.

Here's the issue: We're no longer fighting something that with good rules and moderation would settle into a rhythm eventually.

The right wording of the rules saying "No AI" as strongly as possible, the right requirements, AI spam hunters - it doesn't matter how much we implement, what tools and automod and AI-catching-training we would do with everyone. AI is getting to be too good and people will (and have been) lying to get their game through barriers, borders, and hunters. With some of my other reddit groups, breakouts of this or that "major" problem is normal and can over time calm down and be moderated out. But this?

...It's going to burn us all out if we keep moderating the way we are. This isn't a typhoon, nor a tidal wave. Not a war that can be fought with enough people, armor, and bullets.

It's trying to keep the rising ocean out of a city with only a few buckets. (aka moderators)

Seven buckets, 20 buckets, 50 buckets and wallbreaks with the most advanced towers on the planet - it doesn't matter, the water is still rising and there is no stopping this particular change in society without severe burnout of all the mods (me very much included in that!)

So instead of fighting the planet, the only way is to let it come and adjust things so the community self-polices, not with removals, but with pure spite. BUT we have to keep it Reddit-Mod Code of Conduct-aligned as well, and moderate certain things of course. Like extreme hate is obviously not cool Reddit-wide.

NEW RULE: No false claims about your game.

  • If you explicitly state something untrue ("100% hand-painted art" when it's Midjourney, "original soundtrack" when it's AI-generated), that's removable. But silence is fine. No one is required to disclose anything (for the moment, this might need to change if I'm projecting things right.)

NEW RULE: No AI culture wars.

  • Comments about gameplay experience: always allowed ("the voices sounded robotic," "art style felt generic," "really fun mechanic")
  • Comments attacking the developer over AI use: removed ("you're not a real developer," "AI slop trash," "you're ruining the industry")
  • Comments debating whether AI should exist: removed (take it to another sub)

--

Other Mod Policy Changes: No on Game Collections (Ex: Come play my 50+ games on my website!) and Yes on Tool Testing if its related to games; Like game making or like a heavily, heavily gamified app. It should be really be more game than tool, not just a stock app with leaderboard or cute character encouraging/informing people on self-care.

We are sorry that we are giving up on the fight against AI. It's either this, or shut down the group because not a single person on this planet can dedicate the time to evaluating *every single game* to find hints of deeply embedded AI. Or investigate all accusations with or without merit. Or know of all the AI things people use to make games, assets, music! That's not what any of us signed up for - we are here only to help devs connect with playtesters.

If you do not wish to playtest the games with AI - absolutely fine. We're afraid we're going to have to let you determine what is playtest-worthy or not from here.

If you are BRAND NEW to Reddit and want to post or share your game, read this beforehand!

Hi new Redditor! We're excited that you want to post about your game and have people play it. However, there's something you should know before you do.

Reddit will ban you if your first few posts/comments are links to somewhere.

Reddit has a robust, over-exuberant filtering system, necessary but for groups like this, it can be a slight pain. When you post your game and it's your first post, Reddit ASSUMES FIRST AND DOES NOT ASK QUESTIONS LATER! You will be automatically shadowbanned, which means unable to post or even potentially comment.
Then we get a lot of posters coming to us in Modmail, asking " Why did my post disappear?" Nearly all Modmails are about this issue, roughly 3 a day.

Reddit is also a bit secretive about certain processes - how to get un-shadow-banned is not even really known to be possible. We don't see the record of shadowbanning at all so unless we know of the name and check it regularly, we wouldn't see it un-shadow-banned. We don't know how long your account needs to be open or how much Karma needs to be on it in order for the Filter to stop paying attention to you but we suspect around 100 Post and 100 Comment Karma.

So, if you are new to reddit and want to share your game - DON'T! Not yet, please go post cool/helpful/ positive comments and posts in other groups. Playtest other people's games here and comment on them prolifically. Once you have some "Reddit Post/Comment Karma" under your name first, THEN post your link to your game! You'll be less likely (but not immune, never immune) from being shadowbanned that way for sharing your game.

Edit: If AI recommended you post your game here....Don't Yet until you've developed your account as a good karma community member! This really isn't a "post and ghost" platform, it's community-first. AI doesn't realize this about Reddit.

P.S. This group is 100% responsible for getting accounts banned (when you don't do the steps above) but it's literally out of our control to reverse. So please....don't modmail us unless you KNOW you are not shadowbanned, you have the required karma, and yet your post is not showing up. Only then we can be of some help.

[PC] (Windows) Cozy shop game where you run everything with real SQL

• Upvotes

Game Title: DataMart

Playable Link: https://rodrigoavf.itch.io/datamart

Platform: Windows

Description:
DataMart is a cozy game where you manage a corner shop and everything runs on real SQL. You build it all yourself: the databases, schemas, tables, relationships and queries, your way, on a real PostgreSQL server that runs inside the game.

Customers will ask you things like “Where can I find the apples?” or other questions about the store. Once a week an auditor comes by to check you’re tracking everything properly, and asks you a few questions you’ll answer with SQL.

Outside the shop there’s a whole town to explore, with mysteries and stories involving the people who live there. Of course, you unravel those with SQL too, by digging into the church’s records, the library’s catalogue or the café’s order book. Every story you solve ends with a polaroid in your Memories Book.

The game is in alpha, so expect some rough edges. I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially whether it starts fine on your PC and where you got stuck.

Involvement: I’m the developer of DataMart.

[PC] (Web) I made VonN, a free browser strategy game where orders travel at light speed. Looking for testers.

Game Title: VonN

Playable Link: https://VonN.io

Platform: Browser. Best on desktop; works on phones.

Description: You start with one self-replicating probe in a shared galaxy of 10,000 stars. It mines, pays for a factory in about two and a half minutes, and after that you're building drones, probes, scouts, and three classes of warship that counter each other. Orders and reports travel at light speed, 4 seconds per light-year from your master factory, so faraway stars show you old news and your orders get there late. Ships on sensors don't say who they belong to. If you get wiped out, you start over with one probe and 6 hours of protection, and your account and scores carry over.

I want to know where you got lost in the first ten minutes and whether the light delay is fun or just a pain. Feedback can go here or in #vonn on my Discord at https://discord.gg/VzHpyQfV4q

Free to Play Status: [x] Free to play

Nothing is for sale during the test, and the ads you'll see are Google's test ads. Every 4 hours you get a Signal Cache, banked up to 2, holding a cosmetic such as a marker shape around your systems, a ship trail, an icon, or a title. Duplicates become shards you can use to buy the one you want. After the test, opening a cache takes a short ad you choose to watch, and one ad plays when a run ends. A one-time $4.99 Remove Ads skips both and unlocks custom territory patterns. No banners, and nothing you can buy or open changes gameplay.

Involvement: Solo dev. I designed it and built it over two months. Claude wrote some of the code, and I did the hard parts.

[PC] (Web) [iOS][Android][Web] Unsaid, falling letter word puzzler from a two week startup break, looking for feedback on difficulty and scoring

• Upvotes

Game Title: Unsaid
Platforms iOS, Android, browser
Cost Free with ads
Playable Link unsaidgame.app

What it is. My partner and I took two weeks off from our startup to refresh and decided to build a game. Letters fall into seven columns. You tap a column to drop each one. Words of three or more clear across or down, and chains happen when letters fall into the gap. Each word scores once per game. No timer.

What we want feedback on. Whether Easy, Hard, and Impossible are spaced right, whether the scoring curve rewards long words enough, and whether the tutorial gets you playing fast.

We'll reply to everything.

[PC] (Windows) Withstand The Horde — solo-dev RTS: build a walled city and hold off 2,500 GPU-simulated zombies (free demo)

• Upvotes

Game Title: Withstand The Horde

Playable Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5373720/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=playmygame

Platform: Windows, Linux and macOS (Steam; also on itch.io)

Description: Withstand The Horde is a strategy and base-building game where you raise a walled city, recruit soldiers, and hold off waves of enemies — up to 2,500 zombies at once, simulated on the GPU with a compute shader, so the horde really feels like a horde even on an ordinary laptop. The demo includes two modes: World Mode, where you complete objectives and conquer territories while assigning them to produce different resources, and Endless Mode, where you build, gather, and survive as long as you can. The game is real-time with pause: pause the action anytime to give orders, place buildings, and read any in-game information. You'll manage houses and storehouses, expand your resource storage, raise walls and defensive towers, and recruit a small army to defend what you built. It's made by one person in Godot 4. Feedback is welcome, especially on the difficulty curve of the first ten minutes.

Free to Play Status: Free demo, playable right now (Windows, Linux, macOS)

(Disclosure: the Steam page declares AI-assisted assets — some building recolours and the translations. Everything else — code, art, simulation — is made by hand.)

Description:

Football Deck Evolution (FDE) is a free, browser-based trading card game inspired by football. The project combines collectible cards with football-themed gameplay, allowing players to experience matches through a card game format.

The game is currently in Alpha, which means development is ongoing and there is still plenty of room for improvements, new ideas, and balancing. FDE currently supports 8 languages, and I'm working to make the experience better for players.

I'm sharing the game here because I'm looking for people who enjoy football games or trading card games and would be willing to try it out. I'm especially interested in honest feedback about the gameplay, game balance, user interface, bugs, and overall experience.

If you decide to give it a try, you can send your suggestions and feedback through the Contact section inside the game. Every bit of feedback can help me improve the project.

[Mobile] (iOS) Game Title: Bust A Marble: Encore | free iPhone/iPad beta with music that builds as you score

• Upvotes

Playable Link: https://testflight.apple.com/join/frZu1aTR

Platform: iPhone and iPad, through Apple's TestFlight app.

Description: Bust A Marble: Encore is a marble-chaining puzzle game where your score builds the soundtrack. Drag through neighboring marbles of the same color, then release to shatter a chain of three or more. Longer chains earn more time and a bigger multiplier, and branching your chain adds a Harmony bonus.

There are 20 levels, each with its own song. Build mode starts with a Groove, adds more layers as you score, and brings in the Full Mix as you approach the goal. Your earned Build progress carries into the next attempt. Completing a Build opens the next level and unlocks Flow, where you can play that track with the full song from the start and chase a session score.

https://reddit.com/link/1x6xw2e/video/9009oyhb1pvh1/player

We're looking for fresh eyes on the opening levels. If you can try it for 5–10 minutes, tell us whether chaining feels clear and responsive, how the music progression feels, and where you get stuck. Please include your device and level number if you hit a bug. You can reply here or use TestFlight's feedback tools.

Free to Play Status: Free public beta, available to play now. This is an unpaid playtest.

Involvement: I'm James from Fairlady Media, part of the team developing Encore.

Music was created using Suno and arranged into layers for the game.

Game Title: Giblings

Playable Link: Steam link

Platform: Windows / macOS

Description: A 2D brawler inspired by some of my favourite parts of Liero, Worms and Soldat.

You can dig through destructible terrain, swing around with grappling hooks, and blow each other up with 30 different weapons to choose from.

There are several game modes, including Deathmatch, Elimination, Battle Royale and a co-op Zombie Horde mode. Each of those game modes can also be customized to your liking.

You can play online with up to 6 players, fight against bots, or play locally with 2-player split-screen and controllers. I'm also planning to expand local multiplayer to 4 players in the future.

The full game launches today, but I've just released a free demo yesterday so people can try it out first.

I'd really appreciate any feedback, especially on the controls, combat and general feel of the game. I'm still actively improving things and would love to hear what people think!

Game Title: Yard Keeper

Playable Link: https://playyardkeeper.com

Platform: PC, runs in the browser

Description: Yard Keeper is a free survivors-like you play in the browser. You're a garden gnome with a crossbow, defending your yard against lawn mowers, snakes and a duck that throws pinecones at you. Every level up you pick a weapon upgrade, and the goal is to survive 15 minutes.

Between runs you wake up in your shed. The materials you collected go into your chest, and Berta the blacksmith uses them to upgrade your crossbow up to +9. An upgrade can fail and drop it a level. Out in the garden, a birdhouse gives you character upgrades like dodge and health regeneration if you hold its circle until it reads 100 %.

Today the first major content update went live, and I'm looking for feedback. Once you have finished a run, you can take part in a short poll and vote on what I build next: a leaderboard, a magic gnome hat or a detailed death recap.

Free to Play Status: - [x] Free to play - [ ] Demo/Key available - [ ] Paid (Allowed only on Tuesdays with [TT] in the title)

Involvement: I'm developing Yard Keeper on my own in my free time. Some of the graphics were created with the help of AI tools. I want to replace them once I have some proof that the game is fun. It's free to play and will stay that way for the foreseeable future. That is my voice in the video.

Let me know what you think!

[PC] (Web) Game Title:

• Upvotes

Playable Link: liarsgate.com

Platform:

[PC] (Web), but [Mobile](Web) should work but the UI is less tested

Description: The Liar's Gate is a fully AI adventure game in the vein of Tavern AI, Voyage AI, Fable AI, and other similar titles, with a few key differences:

  1. A concrete world state and deterministic dungeons: Most AI games will let you 'narrate' your way through various game states in more of a creative fiction manner. Liar's Gate takes place in a fixed-state environment, only using AI for NPC behavior and actions, and creatively interpreting user input into the game.
  2. Predictable mechanics: In addition to the fixed-state environment, the game is based on the 5e SRD ruleset. Abilities, conditions, damage rolls, etc... should behave roughly as expected for players familiar with the system, including combat, stealth, and diplomacy game paths.
  3. Advanced Image Generation: I invested a lot of time (probably too much time) into trying to get better renders of the action. Images can be generated on a per-player turn or per-round basis. The game can be played text only for speed (image gen will add up to ~30s per round and triggers game token burn), but the hope is that the speed of these renders improves over time. There's definitely still AI random slop, but the scenes can also look pretty good.

The current game is a demo, a single scenario based around the player escaping a fighting arena. I'd like to collect feedback on the overall engine and approach, but the goal is to to add significantly more content (Full character creation paths, level ups, dozens of pre-built scenarios, random quests, creator tools, etc...) over the next year to create a Skyrim-esque scale universe filled with AI NPC’s and generative content players can explore.

This is a solo dev project and is reaching a scale where I can create features far faster than I can test them, and I would love any feedback, good or bad, especially from people who are fans of the genre. There is a bug report button built into the game where you can log issues.

Free to Play Status: - [ ] Free to play - [ x ] Demo/Key available - [ ] Paid (Allowed only on Tuesdays with [TT] in the title)

You will need a google account to login, and I'm giving out 1-month free text play with image gen credits for the first 100 people that do. After login please give 24-48 hours for the free credits and subscription to show up in your wallet.

[PC] (Web) Spindizzy (1986 Remake) – The 8-bit isometric classic ported to the web for mobile and desktop

• Upvotes
  • Game Title: Spindizzy (Browser Remake)
  • Playable Link:https://spindizzy.adventure.io/
  • Platform: Web / Browser (Desktop & Mobile)
  • Description: Spindizzy is a modern browser recreation of Paul Shirley’s iconic 1986 isometric puzzle-action game originally published by Electric Dreams for the Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, and ZX Spectrum.

I initially built this version so my dad who spent hundreds of hours mastering the original in the mid-80s could jump right back into the labyrinth without dealing with clunky emulator configurations, ROM downloads, or key remapping. In the game, you navigate an exploratory probe called GERALD across a vast suspended maze of narrow ramps, elevators, and hazards to map uncharted territory before your energy runs out.

The web port retains the signature isometric momentum, challenging ramp physics, and room-by-room labyrinthine layout of the classic. I’ve recently added touch controls with an on-screen virtual joystick for mobile play, smooth camera tracking options alongside the classic fixed-screen mode, and support for both WASD/Arrow keyboard inputs. It runs directly inside any modern web canvas with zero installation required.

General [Feedback] Thornreach — a cozy-spooky browser MMO where every building is its own live chat room. Looking for thoughts on the first 2 minutes.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Game Title: Thornreach

Playable Link: https://thornreach.com/?src=playmygame

Platform: Browser (WebGL) — desktop & mobile

Description:
Thornreach is a free browser MMO set in a small Halloween town of the same name — no install and no sign-up required to start playing. The hook is social: every building in town is its own live, real-time chat room, so the map itself is the social space. You wander the streets, step into the tavern or the temple or a shop, and talk to whoever’s there. The town fills and empties as people come and go, with a day/night cycle running over it.

There are six playable classes — Witch, Lich, Ranger, and a few others — each with KayKit character skins and their own abilities. Underneath the hangout layer there’s a story campaign called “The Sixth Rite” that unfolds across the town. I’m launching it for Halloween (Oct 31), so right now I’m hunting for rough edges in the new-player experience while there’s still time to fix them. I’d especially love feedback on the first two minutes (is it clear what to do when you spawn?), whether the chat-per-building idea lands or feels confusing, and anything slow or janky on mobile vs desktop. Happy to play yours back — drop a link.
