Announcement Rule Circumventing

1 Upvotes

Posting restrictions are in place for certain things for a reason. The sub was being filled with spam from both sides. As a result we took measures.

Discuss the game.
Enjoy it even. Or disagree about it.

But once the filters and rules are being circumvented on purpose, this will result in immediate deletion of said posts followed with a ban. This is temporary but either we take steps or the sub continues to go downhill.

Announcement Moderator Update: Community Conduct & Ongoing Moderation

46 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

We need to address the current state of the subreddit.

Over the past several days, r/PlayWolverine has seen a major increase in activity. Unfortunately, that has also come with a significant increase in trolling, harassment, personal attacks, bait posts, repetitive arguments, and users deliberately trying to provoke one another.

We see it, and we are actively working on it.

Right now, we are dealing with hundreds of reports, comments, posts, and individual situations that require moderator review. We are also working on additional measures behind the scenes to help us manage things more effectively going forward.

Please understand that this will take some time, and we may not catch everything immediately.

The moderation team here is made up of volunteers. We have full-time jobs, families, children, and responsibilities outside of Reddit. We are working through this in between everything else because we care about this community and want it to remain a place where people can actually discuss Marvel’s Wolverine.

Criticism is allowed.

You are allowed to dislike the game.

You are allowed to criticize Insomniac, Sony, the writing, gameplay, character designs, pricing, physical releases, or anything else related to the game.

You are also allowed to love the game, defend things you enjoy, disagree with criticism, and be excited about it.

Disagreement is not a rule violation.

What is a problem:

* Personal attacks and insults
* Harassment
*Trolling and ragebait
* Following users into other threads to continue arguments
* Racism, sexism, or discriminatory attacks
* Repeatedly derailing unrelated discussions
* Console-war or culture-war bait
* Spamming the same argument across multiple threads
* Targeting individual users
* Abusing the report system because you disagree with someone

There is a difference between:
> “I think this part of the game looks terrible.”

and
> “Anyone who likes this is an idiot.”

Likewise, there is a difference between criticizing someone’s argument and attacking the person making it.

We are moderating behavior, not opinions.

Please stop feeding trolls.

If someone is obviously trying to provoke you, report it and move on.

Please do not:

* Do not turn one bad comment into a 30-comment argument.
* Do not follow someone into another thread.
* Do not create another post specifically to continue the fight.
* Do not start breaking the rules yourself because somebody else did it first.

That only creates more content for the moderation team to sort through. Which means we get to other issues later.

Also, do not report comments simply because you disagree with them. False or retaliatory reports make it harder for us to reach legitimate problems.

Moderation is being increased.

We are currently reviewing:

* Subreddit rules
* Removal reasons
* Automoderator and filters
* Report handling
* Repeat offenders
* Other moderation tools available to us

You may notice more posts and comments being removed while we work through the backlog.

Repeated or severe violations may result in temporary or permanent bans.

None of these systems will be perfect. Automated moderation can make mistakes, and human moderators can make mistakes too.

If something clearly violates the rules and is still up, report it.

If your content was removed and you believe we got it wrong, send us a Modmail. Do not start another argument about it in the subreddit.

Ultimately

People here are going to have very different opinions about Marvel’s Wolverine.

That’s fine.

Criticize the game. Praise it. Debate each other. Post memes. Discuss what you like and what you don’t.

But disagreement is not an excuse to make the community miserable for everyone else.

Remember that there is another person on the other side of the screen.

To everyone who has been reporting genuine issues, participating constructively, and giving us time to work through everything:

Thank you for your patience. We’re actively working on it.

I'm so glad she clarified this and called out the devs for doing this. She's completely right, whats the point of making your characters look like celebrities.

Discussion I stopped half way and just uninstalled it.

181 Upvotes

At first I was angry then was praising after playing a bit but I just can't take it anymore because I do agree overall it is repetitive. I thought finally an insomniac game usually are straight forward with no bloat, rpg elements and under 20 hour campaigns.

But man games have gotten so crap that wastes so much of your time with no innovation that hooks you. It's all walking/talking, look for clues, collect things, reading so much notes, slow walking and doing non gameplay shit. This game might be like 5-7 hours if you remove all that.

I just don't have time for games like this so imagine me playing 2018 god of war now lol. Maybe because I grew up in ps3 era where they just didn't waste time with bullshit.

Has anybody felt this way about Wolverine or games in general nowadays because at this point I don't even care about wasting money on a digital game as I find it to be a chore. I would rather uninstall then to be obligated to finish the game.

Even after hitting platinum I’m still doing frequent level replays, sometimes just for the sake of spending more time in photo mode and trying out different outfits

Discussion Likelihood of Wolverine going on black friday sale?

0 Upvotes

Hi all,

I really want to play Wolverine and have put some money aside for black Friday sales on PSN store - i don't have a disc drive and unfortunately cant afford to buy one to build a physical collection.

What are the chances it goes on a discount during Novembers black Friday sales?

Full price just seems like a lot, £69.99 when you have games like Control Resonant for £49.99, what do you all think?

EDIT; I’ve just checked and the physical copies of the game are selling for £35-40 on ebay and vinted, which seems like the value didn’t hold as good?

Discussion The triple damage adaptation is crazy, kinda feels like what base combat should have been

0 Upvotes

So I am currently playing on NG+ and with that I have access to the reckless brawler adaptation that makes all attacks deal triple damage but you take double.

It really changes how the combat feels entirely cause all fights even bosses feel like they can be killed much quicker and you do feel really much stronger but obviously you are also a lot more frail so gotta be careful.

I have been finding it a lot of fun, did you guys experiment with it at all ?

Discussion I said I'd be back after I beat it, with an honest opinion.

I beat it like 2 days ago but I had to sit with it.

Edited the original post so you can read there.

Summary: game starts off super strong, ultimately halts all progression as far as mechanics go within 4 missions or so- not enough content. Too important of a story line packed into a tiny game. Combat is solid, but seems more like beta combat or something- soo much room.

All in all.. unless i just paid $90 to unlock Wolverine in a future series of games where you buy your hero of choice as a game and then they all contribute to a larger universe of games where they all fit together or allow you to team up with friends using your respective heroes etc.. which I know isnt the case.. I got graped for money.

But if any insomniacs are reading.^^ that game idea is your redemption piece. Probably too late now though.

Discussion Just rolled credits on Wolverine. Solid 8/10, but we need to talk about the combat.

Just finished my first playthrough. The combat is undeniably fluid, but if I'm being honest, it gets a little repetitive by the end. Aside from that, the story and the overall vibe are fantastic. I'd rate it a solid 8/10.

They absolutely nailed the M-rating. The gore and dismemberment are exactly what you want when you're playing as Logan, and it's great that they didn't pull their punches to do the character justice.

I just wish they had expanded the combo system to be on par with Spider-Man 1 and 2. Still, it’s a great experience that you can easily get 2 or 3 playthroughs out of with NG+. Probably won't be coming back to it for a while, though.

Did Insomniac rely too much on the M-rated gore to carry a shallow combo system? Does Wolverine's combat actually pale in comparison to Spider-Man's, or does a simpler, more brutal brawler style just fit Logan's character better? What did you think?
