PlayStation 4 Help Help log in

I recently tried to log into my psn account that I created on my ps4 onto my ps5 but realized my ps4 account was linked to an old phone number that I no longer have access to for 2FA. I called and they basically told me it was nothing they could do, and I even logged back on my ps4 to try to disable the 2FA, no luck. Is there any other way I could disable the 2fa?

You could always use the backup codes (that are meant for this exact sort of situation) it provided you with and warned you to save (and made you acknowledge you saved them) when you first turned on 2FA. You did save those when it told you to right?

I called and they basically told me it was nothing they could do

Elaborate please. Normally they can ask for one of more of the following pieces of verification info (they tend to want 2 pieces of info verified if you cant provide the original console serial number)

  1. Serial number of the console you first created your account with (I know most people wont have this, so if you don't, theyll generally ask to have you verify two other pieces of info)
  2. The answer to your security questions (assumes you actually created a security question/answer)
  3. Transaction id of your most recent transaction (these are emailes to you anytime you buy something on psn)
  4. First 4 AND last 4 digits of a credit/debit card on file (this assumes you currently have one on file).

Were you just not able to provide them with ANY of that info? If not, and you dont have your backup codes, then you're basically screwed.

I don’t think Backup codes existed when 2FA started , I wasn’t given any when I first activated and only found out they did sometime after the PS5 launched from a Reddit post.

When they started recommending Passkey over traditional text based 2FA, this disclaimer would have popped up when you changed to passkey, since now your 2FA is essentially linked to your physical phone.
