Period Question Is it normal to feel no pain when on period?
For the past 9 years of getting my period, it's always been painful. Sometimes it was so painful that I couldn't eat, sometimes it was so painful that it made me physically tired. But as of 4 months ago, my periods have been entirely painless. No discomfort, just the slightly irritated mood, but besides that it's just a regular day. This never happened to me, and I'm kinda freaked out about it

Discussion Medicating Stigma
Sometime I really hate the medicating Stigma that comes with periods. My friend has casted judgement on me multiple times for me apparently “medicating too much” on my period.
The difference bewteen me and friend is, I vomit if I’m in too much pain my period. It is a fact, It’s happened to my multiple times . I can’t just sit through the pain without meditating otherwise I’ll vomit which we know is not compatible with everyday life activities. Also my pain on some months is almost physically debilitating. I remeber a month where I woke up on my period and I was so weak to the point where I had to call my mother to pass me medication which was in my room.
So because of this I take medication carefully. I never take more than recommend. I never take tablets that interact with each other. Also I only experience this pain for a day.
This has really annoyed me due to the fact that this friends asks for tablets from me despite her views on me this had me more hesitant for me to give them to her.

Period Question Late period with clotting and spotting but no bleeding or pain?
I’m 5 days late and I started spotting today with clots with urine. No bleeding and no period pain. I did get brief abdominal pain but in my usual periods I get constant overwhelming pain. Is this a normal late period or could it be pregnancy related?

Rants n Raves First period in months
Hi guys, I just wanted somewhere I could rant about this. I haven’t had my period in months and this one is very heavy. I’m normally super irregular though. I would go months without a period so I feel like I’m having a lot of emotions. Well more like pain, I get bad back cramps and I can’t help but listen to the voice in the back of my head telling me I’m being dramatic. I think I’m not used to feeling this way. I haven’t had this kind of period in years. I also can’t help but think about how strong us women are. Props to the women who deal with this type of pain every month. I used to get so stressed when I wouldn’t get mine. Idk I felt less woman?? All the wonderful ladies around me talked about their monthly’s often and I couldn’t relate. Now I’m feeling a great deal of admiration towards those who do have a monthly. They have to deal with it often and just go about their days. And then we have men who try to tell us it’s not that bad. It is bad but I’m forced to suck it up as part of the norm. It’s also just shocking me how much blood is coming out.. like starting to get scared but I think I once saw a photo of how much blood we actually lose during this time. Anyway, I’m just feeling blah, tired and fugly. It’s not fun. But I will say, I am proud to be a woman.

Period Question Extreme Pain
I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar to this, I have a gyno appointment coming up but I’m curious to see what others say. About 6 years ago when I was 16, I experienced such an insane amount of cramp pain that they called the ambulance because I was SCREAMING and couldn’t move. They didn’t find anything wrong and because bleeding was heavy so I just assumed it might have been a miscarriage but nothing showed on the ultrasound. Now, at 22, I experienced the same thing again. The other day ambulance was called, I crawled into the ambulance screaming help me. They gave me morphine immediately but yet again, found nothing on the ultrasound, nothing in my bloodwork and sent me home. This time my period was light. I’m thinking there might be an underlying condition but I really don’t understand what could be going on.

Period Question spotting but no period?
So I'm not late technically, but I've had all my PMS symptoms that I do just a day or two before periods, which is that I get sick, i have horrible cramps, etc. Buut it's been 3-4 days since then, and yet no periods. I saw a small speck of blood while peeing, and then very minute little brown discharge after wiping once or twice a day, but no period still. Is this spotting normal?

Birth Control Did anyone experience significantly heavier bleeding and large clots after starting Slynd? Does it get better?
Hi everyone! I'm back with another update on my never-ending PCOS bleeding situation. 🥲
For some background, I've been dealing with prolonged and extremely heavy bleeding for months. In September, my hemoglobin dropped to 5.0, and I was hospitalized and given 4 units of blood and 2 units of plasma. I also received IV iron afterward.
Because I have mild mitral valve regurgitation, my gynecologist prescribed Slynd (4 mg drospirenone) instead of an estrogen-containing birth control pill.
I've been taking Slynd for about 11 days now, and unfortunately, my bleeding has gotten significantly worse.
I'm passing large clots, sometimes almost the size of ping-pong balls and bigger. The bleeding fluctuates throughout the day, sometimes slowing down to spotting and then suddenly becoming heavy again.
I went to my gynecologist today. She examined me, said everything looked normal structurally, and suggested that I might just be having a period. She told me not to stop Slynd and to give it more time.
However, my hemoglobin has dropped from around 10 to 9.4, and I've ended up hospitalized again. I'm receiving treatment for the anemia, but I'm really concerned about the bleeding itself.
I also asked my doctor about tranexamic acid (TXA). He said it might be an option, but we'd need approval from cardiology first because of my heart valve condition.
My main questions are:
- Did Slynd initially make your bleeding significantly heavier before it eventually improved?
- If you experienced large blood clots while taking Slynd, how long did that phase last?
- Did your bleeding eventually stop completely, or did you continue having irregular bleeding?
- Has anyone with PCOS and prolonged bleeding actually had success with Slynd?
- Has anyone taken TXA alongside Slynd to manage heavy bleeding?
I know irregular bleeding is common during the first few months of hormonal birth control, but I'm struggling to understand whether this level of bleeding is something other people have experienced.
I'm following my doctors' instructions and staying on Slynd for now. I'm just hoping to hear some real experiences, especially from people who started it specifically to control prolonged PCOS-related bleeding rather than for contraception.
I'm so tired of bleeding. I genuinely just want to have a normal life again. 😭

Discussion Tips for becoming more aware of my menstrual cycle?
I am 30 years old and I admit that I have never been in touch with my menstrual cycle. The only ways I'm able to tell it's coming are occasional cramps, more acne, and PMS. I have had an IUD for over 5 years now which does make periods nearly nonexistent. That alone makes me feel out of touch with my cycle. Advice is greatly appreciated.

Period Question Normal?? NSFW
galleryI have standard periods, meaning they arrive the same time, last 7 days. It ended last Wed. However starting Tuesday, I started bleeding a little- bright red, only when I wiped. Didn't think anything of it, attributed it to spotting. It went away over night, started again yesterday when I wiped, but more bloody. Last night, there were some dark blood spots and I started having VERY mild cramping lower right abdomen. This AM, everything was normal, wiped and some mucus. However throughout the morning, the bleeding has gotten heavier with darker blood. It's now in my underwear and the pain isn't bad, but more noticeable than last night. Is this ovulation? Or am I restarting my period?? I'm so confused. Pics are from yesterday, to this am and most recent

Period Question What could this be? NSFW
galleryIm currently 12 days in my cycle, my period ended 6 days ago but rn, and since yesterday, I started having a light pink spotting mixed with my cervical mucus, and it kinda worries me of what it could be.
I attached some pictures of how it looked already dry and one from a few minutes ago, this is the most I’ve seen today, yesterday it lasted for a few hours, I also had a bit of cramps but they were light. Also I’m 17 if it serves for anything, and my cycles are from 33-34 days average, but something different was that my cycles from both July and August were longer, 44 and 48 days, then the next one was 34 days again. Idk if it matters

Health Spotting and pelvic pain since ovulation
I get painful ovulations with occasional spotting month to month, but this month I felt myself ovulate from my right ovary & had significantly more bleeding than I usually do. Then the next day I felt ovulation pains coming from the left ovary. I continued spotting for 4 more days & the pain has continued for a week. The pelvic pain is only present when my bladder is full, at the start of urination, and when passing gas. I have a gyno appointment but any ideas what this could be? I'm not pregnant or trying

Period Question Feeling lightheaded on my period?
Yesterday I started feeling lightheaded. This isn’t a symptom I normally have but my period symptoms in general are getting worse as I age I’ve noticed. I wasn’t having heavier bleeding than normal but my flow does tend to be heavy especially for a few days for most of my cycles. I bought an iron supplement to take because I’ve also started in the past year or so experiencing a lot of fatigue around my cycle and being really exhausted every day leading up to it and during my bleeding. Does anyone else have this?

Period Question Is this kind of period normal?
My period is always extremely heavy at the veryyyy beginning, almost like my entire period comes out at once, and then it’s suddenly very light??
A few days ago, I stood up after sitting for a while and my entire leg and crotch were covered in blood. It felt like I was constantly dripping blood, but by the late afternoon, my period had gone back to a light flow and a dark brown color.
Before my period used to be extremely heavy, i would bleed through everything. But for like 1-2 years now it’s been just very light (excluding the first days) and lasts maybe 4-5 days
I feel extremely dizzy and sick on the days this happens (ik im losing a shit ton of iron so that’s probably why). Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is this normal?

Period Question Should I be concerned?
So uh, I haven’t had my period since July. It’s almost been three months and I’m a little worried. Obviously not pregnant and not on birth control. Already skipped my period two times this year so it’s been pretty irregular.

Period Question Period's changed recently
Hi all,
My [23F] periods have always been kind of strange, but they've changed a lot recently. I had *super* heavy periods all through school. In recent years they've been less heavy but I still have to wear overnight pads during the day. They've also always been incredible painful. I'd miss days from school every month because the pain was so bad. Also recently they've gotten less painful but that could also just be me getting used to it?
Anyway, the story goes: I got my period from the 1st to the 5th of July and then didn't get it again until the 21st September with one day of spotting on the 1st September. I can't say my periods are completely regular but it really hasn't been this long between periods before. From the 8th October to the 14th I had brown spotting along with passing clots every day. Today (15th) my period came on suddenly and heavy and only lasted for around 5 or 6 hours before stopping. This has never happened to me before.
I thought I would come here first in hopes of an idea of what might be happening/a similar experience. I've been to doctors many times about my periods, they gave me ultrasounds but nothing ever showed up. Just looking for some advice before I go and spend heaps again.
TIA!

Period Question Clockwork and Sudden Change
I’m in my late 30s and have never been on birth control. I don’t want any birth control. I’m also not currently sexually active.
My periods have always been very predictable. They can fluctuate by a day or two, so starting a day early isn’t unusual for me.
Typically, my periods are heavy for the first day or two, then gradually become lighter until I’m down to spotting by day five. I’ve also always experienced blood clots, sometimes large ones.
This month, however, things are different. My period arrived about a day early, which isn’t unusual, but the bleeding pattern is. The flow isn’t particularly heavy, but it isn’t light either, and I’ve barely had any clots, which is unusual for me. I’m also experiencing cramping.
I’m now on day five, and I’m still bleeding at a regular menstrual flow rather than tapering off to spotting as I normally would.
Since starting my period as a preteen, my period has generally been consistent with minimal changes, this change is concerning to me. Aside from being pregnant, my period has always been regular with no dramatic changes.
Has anyone experienced something similar? I’m worried something is very wrong.

Period Question How do I stop bleeding all over the bathroom? NSFW
Every time I use the bathroom during my period, when I sit down, a huge flood of blood just dumps out and gets everywhere. I have to clean the toilet seat every single time, and often the outside of the bowl, the floor, etc. as well. It doesn't matter if I go to the bathroom every 30 minutes, there's always enough new blood to make a mess. Of course I clean it up, but it's exhausting and disgusting and I've never heard anyone talk about it. It almost makes me wonder if I have unusually heavy flow (I do need to wear two or three overnight pads at a time even during the day), but my gynecologist says my flow is normal, so I have no idea what to think. If anyone knows what's going on, if this is normal or if it's unhealthy or if there's a trick to stop making so much of a mess, I'd really like some help.
