PS5 keeps turning off suddenly and randomly
Like the title says. When I play certain games for enough time, my PS5 turns off suddenly and immediately with no warning whatsoever. It only does it with certain games. For example, I'm trying to play Star Wars: Outlaws and it keeps doing it, but for the past year I've played The Last of Us: Part I, The Last of Us: Part II - Remastered, Mafia: The Old Country, Assassin's Creed: Mirage, Silent Hill f, Bloodborne, Dark Souls III, Demon's Souls, The Surge, and a bunch of others without any difficulty at all.
And it isn't a new thing either. Months ago I tried playing the System Shock Remake and it kept doing it until I gave up. It also did it somewhat with Assassin's Creed: Shadows, but not too bad, so I was able to finish it. From what I've heard it is most likely either an issue with the Heat Sink or whatever, or the power cord is faulty. There's just one problem with those two theories. Why aren't those an issue for most of the games I play? Why specific ones? If it was either of those things, wouldn't it do it for EVERY game? Is there something unique to those games that's causing this?
What are your recommendations? Should I try cleaning or repairing the Heat Sink somehow? Or should I try getting a new power cord first? Or is it possible it's something else entirely? Thanks!

Some games are more demanding than others and would tax the system more, generating more heat.
Poor ventilation or blocked and clogged vents exacerbates the heat issue and causes the system to shut down to mitigate long term damage.
Where is your system located and is it clean?

It's been about a couple months since I cleaned it last. But back then it didn't really make much of a difference either. And about how much ventilation or space does it need? I have it on top of my TV Stand and sort of next to/behind the TV. It's about 1 foot away from one wall, and almost a foot away from the other wall. Should it be more in the middle of the room or closer to a window? And should I keep it away from the TV?
Also, would System Shock and Star Wars: Outlaws really be more demanding than games like TLOU 1 & 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Demon's Souls, Silent Hill f, etc.? Those two seem like they are much smaller and much less powerful overall.

Since ur not getting any overheating notification prior to shut off, I strongly believe it might be the power supply unit. Most likely power supply unit vents are clogged up with dust.

Would I need to clean it out or would it have to be replaced because it's broken? I'm gonna try cleaning it anyway, but I hope it ain't broke.

Usually unclogging the vents would do. If u have a ps5 slim, remove the bottom left plate (bottom left panel if the console were placed vertical). To the left front side of the console you’ll find a hole. If u look through that hole, u might be able to get a glimpse on the power supply unit. The power supply unit have honeycomb like vents. They should be unclogged. The power supply tend to retain dust in those vents. A vacuum on a low suction setting might help remove some of that dust. There are downsides to using a vacuum to suck off the power supply unit tho. Suction could lose something else. If ur gonna attempt it anyway, be very cautious when doing so.

I have the original PS5 Model. I'm gonna have to try this tomorrow if I have time. Better to try first than spend money to replace it. Thanks for this information! I'll let you know if it works!

Oh, and another thing I forgot to mention in the post is that I can't turn my PS5 back on until I unplug and replug my power cord into the back. So, tbh, with that knowledge, and the information you provided me, it's probably either the power supply unit, the power cord, or maybe even both. I have noticed that cords in general seem to wear out and break surprisingly frequently.

Do you have the ce 108262 9 error? I had that my console was turning off by itself. Turns out I had a software update and that fixed it.

I’d check for overheating first, clean the vents, and make sure the console has enough space around it for airflow. If it keeps shutting off even when it’s cool, it could be a power supply issue

Had this issue last week. I vacuumed what dust I could and cleaned the fan, havent had a problem since.

Hey, just fixed mine. I was only playing ps4 versions of games to avoid this. I was going to take it to a shop to get the liquid metal redone but instead I decided to deep clean it... take the panels off, and unscrew and unplug the fan. Blow all of the dust out and thats it. There's a cheese grater looking thing by the back that is probably caked with dust. The second I took the fan out I saw a wall of dust
