Opinion The losers at MS continue to try to fleece their users

I decided to see if Outlook at reimplemented Unified inbox, after removing it on New Outlook. I was surprised when I downloaded the app, signed in and saw "All Accounts", the way it looks on the iOS app.

Today I opened the app and saw it immediately vanish. So I went down the rabbit hole and found the Help > Go to Classic Outlook button, I downloaded it and it's asking me for a subscription.

MS knows people prefer Classic and are trying to capitalize on it.

Apparently there are plans to rollout unified inbox or something similar to the new Outlook but its a "slow" roll-out.

I am going to continue to use Mozilla's Thunderbird as are many others.

Microsoft continues to be a joke and seems to be leaning into it, no wonder they love their new, Widely adopted Microslop name.

Status: Pending Reply No checkboxes in any folder

Signed in to Hotmail.com account. No way to select any e-mail in any folder; clicking the empty space where it should be simply opens the e-mail.

Selected Help from the toolbar, Help again in yet another toolbar, went thru thru the pointless steps on the slide-out, entered 'checkboxes' and -- OMG -- they didn't have a preset solution for 'checkboxes not displayed'!! So I clicked Still Need Help? Yes. Of course then they want me to "Sign in to see support options." ... Am I not already signed in, looking at my e-mail?? How did I click Help and get the slide-out, then that I still needed help?

So I click the sign-in button, and yet another thing pops up on the other side of the screen, asking that I sign in, complete with a 'We found an account you can use here' with the account that I'm signed in on listed. I click it, the pop-up window goes white, then closes.

...

That's it. It doesn't re-sign me in, open another window with other options, the slide-out is still open, still only telling me to sign in, etc. Doing so again only repeats the process of getting no help, no support, no solutions.

Can you guess that I'm looking to close this account and all my others (which do have checkboxes) as this is typical of dealing with MS? I already closed all my Skydrive accounts, one of which, I saw today, MS had graciously reopened, signed me up, without my having to do a thing, including giving permission. Aww; so, so, so sweet. I imagine they're going to also help me by copying any e-mail attachment I receive or send to it for public viewing.

Status: Open Can't use Comcast account on Outlook

I am not an idiot, I have tried multiple ways to try to get my Comcast account and Outlook synced up. First it was just a constant sign up, now it's just not even working at all. My other comcast account works fine and no problems. But the one I use for all my personal emails and is even the account I have as my mS account as well just doesn't work anymore. So this has gotten ridiculous and I am just going to bypass outlook altogether. Two huge companies and their email systems can't work together because someone added another layer somewhere. I am done being the repairman and manager working on these things when it was supposed to help save time instead of eating it.

Status: Pending Reply Reported a phishing scam and Outlook auto opened the email and clicked a link! What the f***???

Hey, just reported the most obvious phishing scam ever that somehow made it past all filters. It was an "Amazon" "problem with your payment" whatever BS email complete with misspelled words and a fake name with random characters. I did not open this email. I selected it and went to report. When I clicked the "Report" button in the Outlook interface, it said "Report and Unsubscribe." There was no other option. I said yes. Outlook then automatically OPENED the email and OPENED A LINK in the email which took me to a some bullshit website, presumably meant to help me unsubscribe. I am in genuine shock. In what fucking world is that okay to do? When would I ever want to open a link an email I'm reporting as a phishing scam? Jesus christ.

Status: Open Locked out of account

I had a few emails about unusual logins so to make my account more secure I had to provide some information. This included stuff like recently sent emails and the last Passwords I used and some other things. I sent it off and they wrote back and said it wasn’t enough information so now my account has been completely blocked. I’ve tried to enter another form but I haven’t heard anything. How do you get round this?

Status: Open Anybody know if i can fix my email address alias being changed to outlook? I want it back to receive emails that are still trying to go to hotmail.

So im a gamer and a few years back i hated how my mums email and name displayed under MY profile so i got into all her email renamed it from clancychicken@hotmail.com to medicalmango22209@outlook.com. The expectation was simply renaming the email would reroute all connections to the “new” email. But it hasn’t. Accounts with details, personal info, bank details, purchases and pictures are all connected to an email that doesn’t exist and trying to change the connected email prompts a “verification code sent to [non existent email]”. I would imagine you can see the problem and extreme worry/frustration. Both EA support and microsoft under outlook (what the hell happened to hotmail) have been useless AI bots trying to assist what i would consider an advanced technical issue. I just want to speak to a human and get my stuff back. I deleted the original alias and tried reverting it but hotmail i believe doesn’t exist anymore. All phone numbers and alternative emails have been lost or scratched so that isn’t an option either

Basically i want into my old EA account connected to an old email; renamed to a new email that didn’t transfer any registries.

Status: Open Not receiving emails when having all mail forwarded from old email to new?

I recently got a new email, and set my old outlook email up to forward all mail to my new account. it’s working well although i have stopped receiving email completely from certain companies such as Oura ring, Poshmark, and a few others. it’s really frustrating because some of the emails contain login codes, etc. i literally have had to file help tickets on each of the websites in order to receive their mail again, and most have responded that it’s an issue on Outlook’s end. does anyone know how to fix his or if there is some setting i need to change?

Is there anyway to default to the classic outlook. Each time I restart my laptop after an update it reverts back to the new outlook and then I have to toggle it off and provide reasons I want to revert back.

Status: Pending Reply Reported various spam emails as 'Phishing.' Now I'm getting tonnes of spam emails

Before, I used to only get around 1~10 spam emails per day.

But after reporting various spam emails as 'Phishing,' I'm now getting double or triple the amount of spam emails compared to before reporting (e.g. 30+ spam emails per day).

Did I do something wrong with using 'Report phishing' function from Outlook? Is there a way to mitigate this spam email issue?

Status: Open Trying to chat w HUMAN AGENT

It's Monday and I'm still trying to chat with a human agent from Microsoft Support. Guys, please. I don't want to chat with the BOT! HE DOESN'T HELP ME!

My account is blocked. It is not connected to cellphone, it doesn't have the back up account, I sent the ACSR forms 5 times no response!

Please. I don't know what to do!!! I already tried with the authenticator, the sign in helper, the bot helper. I need to access my freaking Mail. Edit: I also posted in Microsoft learn, went to contact us Microsoft. Contact Microsoft helps in Twitter/X. Everywhere really. Microsoft learn is a forum where users help users, nothing new sadly 😔 Edit 2: I did got in contact with a HUMAN. My god some people weren't loved by their mothers, there is no other explanation. I will wait for the ACSR form answer I guess. My heart is broken.

Status: Resolved Frustrated with Outlook’s “Move to Folder” feature when dealing with nested folders

Hi folks,

Imagine I manage 50 clients, each with a folder structure like this:

Client 1
├── Negotiations
├── Contracts
├── Newsletters
└── Active Projects
    ├── Project 1
    │ ├── Phase 1
    │ │ ├── Subcontractor 1
    │ │ └── Subcontractor 2
    │ └── Phase 2
    └── Project 2

Client 2
├── Negotiations
├── Contracts
├── Newsletters
└── Active Projects
    ├── Project 1
    │ ├── Phase 1
    │ │ ├── Subcontractor 1
    │ │ └── Subcontractor 2
    │ └── Phase 2
    └── Project 2

...and so on for all 50 clients, each with multiple projects, phases, and subcontractors.

When I right-click an email, select Move, and search for the “Newsletters” folder, Outlook lists all 50 folders with the same name without showing their parent folders. This makes it difficult to identify the correct destination and increases the risk of moving emails to the wrong client’s folder.

Gmail seems to handle this kind of organization more intuitively.

Is there a way to make Outlook display the full folder path (e.g., Client 1 > Newsletters) in the Move menu, or otherwise make it easier to distinguish between identically named folders?

I’d appreciate any suggestions or workarounds!

Edit: The closest solution I’ve found for Gmail-style email organization with full folder-path visibility in Outlook is using the Ctrl + Shift + V keyboard shortcut in the new version of Outlook. It also works in the web version.

Status: Pending Reply Outlook.com - send as both HTML and text? (multipart/alternative)

In OutlookWeb you can choose if to send (or, well, compose) messages as HTML or text. It's controllable from the toolbar under Options \ Format.

But when sending HTML, the raw email includes only HTML and not the customary HTML + plaintext alternative.

Is there a way to configure it to send both formats? (MIME's multipart/alternative.)

Opinion Outlook logins are driving me mad, is there any way to stop this ridiculous loop

Detail of the issue is every time I try to login i am met with the screen of how I want to sign in. Every time I just want to select my password. But 50-70% of the time that's not good enough for Outlook. It will tell me that the password login is not available right now...why is this ever a thing? Then instead I have to play a game of puzzles and give my phone number 4 digits in order to play the game.

Every time I try to login it then asks me to make an email to authenticate or use an outside source other than my email to authenticate my account. Like, no, I don't want to do that. And it runs me through this charade every time I try to login. I'm absolutely sick of this and just want to change email at this point due to the issues but worried about having to update all my accounts and missing some.

This is the absolute worst system I've ever used. It used to be I could just use the password which I made for my account to login but now it seems it wants to do everything in its power to stop me from accessing my email. It is ridiculous.

Right now I'm stuck on having to use another email for authentication...I don't have another email and don't want more than 1. I'm just so sick and tired of this.

Please any help with stopping this nonsense and just being able to use my password like it should be? Failing this, is there any way to quickly/automatically get all emails linked to this sent through to a new one I create because I can't keep doing this every time I try to login.

Status: Pending Reply Check boxes missing next to each item in my email. Seeking advice.

Yesterday I noticed when logged into hotmail/outlook email on my computer web browser, that the small check/select box to the left of each item was missing. The box that allows you to check multiple items to move, delete them, etc at one. I tried another browser - and same issue. Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone know if this has to do with an update, and if there is a way for me to change a setting to get them back? I use these consistently as my main way to organize items. Thank you.
