Lost/Found MISSING CAT IN ORLEANS
galleryI cannot seem to find my cat anywhere in the house, not in his usual hiding spots or anywhere. He comes out when I shake treats but not tonight. He might be stuck somewhere in the house or that he ran out the door at some point without anyone noticing. If anyone sees an orange tabby. Located near GARDENWAY DRIVE Orleans please call 343-585-7761 (he's very anxious and runs from strangers)

Sports TIL Ottawa now has an LNAH hockey team
Whilst doing normal random nerd surfing of the internet tonight, going wherever the flow of knowledge takes me, I learned that the Manotick Mariners moved from the Northern Premier Hockey League to the LNAH as of this season.
For those who don't know, NPHL is a senior hockey league not affiliated nor sanctioned by Hockey Canada, whereas LNAH is a lower level professional league that almost always uses teams exclusively in Québec. LNAH has attracted retired NHL players before and has been referred to as one of the toughest hockey leagues in the world, with an average of 3.2 fights per game as of 2010 research by the New York Times.
They play out of the Mike O'Neil Arena in Manotick but have the ability to upscale to Steve Yzerman Arena at the Nepean Sportsplex, as required for capacity. Consider giving them some viewership if you value having an additional, grittier, non-agecap professional umbrella team in the city!

Are these private no parking signs legal?
These are on waverly, but there’s no city signs. I noticed no one is parking on the street so I’m not sure if there is in fact enforceable.
Edit: to be clear, this is on the private grass and facing the public street.
Edit again: I learned a lot from the replies about the road being private. Thanks. Interesting.

Looking for... Carnivorous plants
We keep getting fruit flies in the house (we eat a lot of fruit...). We've tried everything at this point (home-made traps, store-bought traps, sticky ribbon traps, etc), except for this. So...
Anyone know where I can buy smallish but mature carnivorous plants that would be good for helping control them?

News Drivers speeding 5-9 km/h faster at former photo radar locations in Ottawa school zones this fall
ctvnews.caWhat's interesting to note this time around is there's actually a marginal increase in compliance compared to August, that said, its likely due to all the congestion that schools bring with it during school hours that inherently slows drivers down, rather than enforcement or willingness of drivers to voluntary comply speed limits in school zones, as overall compliance rates are abysmally low compared to when speed cameras were active.

Neighbour Parking His Construction Trailer Is Destroying Retaining Wall
Seeking advice. My neighbour has been parking his contractor trailer half on his legal laneway, half off on the grassy verge which is about 3.5 to 4 feet above my property (in order to accommodate his wife's SUV on their single laneway). This is causing the pressure treated wood retaining wall (which is legally on his property, but which abuts my property) to lean over. I am afraid that it will soon collapse onto my property. We are not on speaking terms. What should I do to protect my property from damage if the retaining wall collapses?

How many times have I wanted to make a big ass sign for cars to read? So many times. I applaud the poor people who are sick of people being idiots.

Accomodation for a family of 15 during 2027 Ironman
My mom will be doing the Ironman triathlon next year and lives in BC as well as my 2 brothers and their wives/kids. I live in Kingston. Everybody is planning to make the trip and turn it into an event as it also coincides with her 60th birthday and retirement.
We are looking for somewhere we can all stay together while in Ottawa for about 4 nights. One large place for 8 adults and 7 kids under ten would be ideal, but we are also fine with some kind of resort with condos or something. Hotel would be last resort if there are no other choices.
I have looked at AirBNB, etc with not much luck yet so seeing if somebody here knows something I don't. Thanks!

OC Transpo How long will it take to get from Moodie LRT station to Parliament?
Hello!
Can any of the clever people on Reddit please tell me, when the Moodie LRT station opens, how long do you think it will take to get from there to downtown? (To Parliament station, for example?)
I am considering moving to Bells Corners or Kanata, but I work downtown and so the commute is a major factor.
I’ve looked at similar distances/number of stops on LRT routes to downtown from the east end. Maybe that’s about as accurate an estimate one could generate at the moment. But, there are a lot of real knowledgeable people on Reddit, so I thought I’d ask if anyone can weigh in?
Bonus questions:
I saw people estimate the Moodie LRT station will open in 2028 now…How hopeful are we that it could still happen in 2027?
When do people think the LRT will make it to Kanata?
Thanks for your time!! Have a great day.
