New face of the franchise for Big Ass Ham it looks like. You need to contact her. Or Dave. But Dave's not here, and I think we're parked.

I used to put a slice cheese on my phat cat back. The cat would get it off by doing a backflip.

Hams and similar deli meats are usually full of sodium which is not good for them at all. Pls be careful!
29
u/HotHelios 17d ago
Ain't good for us either, doesn't stop us from eating it tho

u/Conscious-Inside-223 17d ago
Yea but idt people understand . If a cat eats a tiny piece of cheese itโs like eating 2 hamburgers for their metabolism . Maybe a smaller piece of salami but that was pretty big.

My cats lick my sweaty arms

u/Chris__P_Bacon 17d ago
Mine does too. My legs as well. I always just assumed she needed a little extra salt in her diet?

u/Ballsofpoo 17d ago
Or going after my BAC
2
u/Chris__P_Bacon 17d ago
I don't think you perspire alcohol, at least not enough to get a cat drunk? ๐
7
u/Legitimate_Emu3531 17d ago
0,5g salt would be a lot of salami. Like 100g contain between 3 and 6g.
So going by your numbers a few bits here and there don't do anything wild.

u/Herteity 17d ago
Sodium isn't even the only issue, deli meats will often have spices and herbs that are straight up toxic to cats. Like garlic or onions

u/NeverTooMuchAnime 17d ago
Downvoted for speaking the truth. Cats get kidney failure because people feed them this stuff "once in a while" cause they think a little bit won't hurt them. A little bit every week, maybe twice? For years? That shit builds up in their system. It gets painful in their later years of life. Just cause they're ok now, doesn't mean it is good for them.

u/Herteity 17d ago
Yeah, I don't really care about the internet points, just hope some caring owners might see it and reconsider what they give as treats </3

Salami and pastrami do, and those should be avoided0. But ham and turkey don't. I'm pretty sensitive to alliums and can detect the onion powder in things like ketchup. Cats may be more sensitive, but I've never caught a whiff of alliums in any. Ones that are "spicy" or heavily flavored would be more likely to, but something like black forest, honey baked, or applewood smoked don't.
It's good awareness, since "herbs and spices" always opens up that risk. Many hams list ingredients out and it's all salts. Also for better or worse, most ingredient lists include onion powder outside of spices. A good compromise would be making sure the ham doesn't have "spices".
To be fair though, if it's at the level of only being a part of the "spices", it's at an extremely minimal level.

Also raw pork in general isn't a good idea for cats. It can contain a Herpes virus that is deadly for them. If you feed pork, make sure it is cooked or baked throughout.

Aujeszky's? Really?
It's a domestic cat, not some rabid feral eating wild boar. Of all the pearl-clutching bullshit things to worry about, you picked Aujeszky's?
REALLY?

making fun of a red cat but mistaking kiebalsa for ham
15
u/katf1sh 17d ago
Calling orange "red" is ironic given your statement.
2
u/neekthefreak 17d ago
but i didn't call it a dog just because it has 4 legs and a tail. ham is a completely different food, with totally different preparation. even in shop that is marketed as polish sausages. but even call it generally sausage would improve the statement.

u/katf1sh 17d ago
Oh I agree lol I actually work in a deli, so trust me I get you lol I was simply making a bad joke that I now regret since people seemed to take it seriously โก
3
u/neekthefreak 17d ago
it's ok :) i don't take downvotes (or corrections) like a life or death situation. and yes, you are right, that's orange. it's just that in my native language we call it "gatto rosso" and because of it sometimes i end up using red instead of orange.
2
u/katf1sh 17d ago
I love learning new facts! What is your native language if its ok to ask? I like the way "gatto rosso" looks and sounds better and may start calling my orange/red kitty that haha
2
u/neekthefreak 16d ago
i was born in Italy and i speak italian :) i think that in italy the 2 most common names for red cats are Romeo (we looooove the aristocats) and Garfield :)

Oh ok, so, two things. 1, I'm talking actual colours, so orange and red are absolutely different (unless you are colourblind, which is a different circumstance and not the commenter's fault). 2, and this is a genuine question since I cannot tell from the screenshot, is that a Google AI answer, or just a random YouTube-er answer?
I guess there is actually a 3, which is just that I thought it was funny that the person I responded to felt the need to correct someone when they made a statement that is (maybe interpreted) wrong and made a lame joke over it
1
u/Chris__P_Bacon 17d ago
As far as #2: Yes, it's from Google AI, but I just posted it as a visual aid. It's one of the random cat factoids that takes up space in my brain even though I can't remember wtf I had for breakfast. ๐
As far as #3 goes... That was a joke? I thought jokes were supposed to be funny?
1
u/katf1sh 17d ago
Sadly, I read the last part before the first, so now I feel judgy instead of more lighthearted, which is how I originally would have responded.
So, as far as your response to #3, you must have missed when I said "lame", poking fun at myself for a LAME joke, but that's ok :) never said I was funny or clever! โก
And now, I will hold back my judgement of you using AI and then in the same paragraph saying you don't even remember what you had for breakfast :p
Honestly, try and lighten up a little lol what I said wasn't meant to be taken seriously at all
1
u/Chris__P_Bacon 17d ago
I thought we were talking about u/NeekTheFreak 's comment about kielbasa vs ham? I didn't even see you make a joke. Realistically, I didn't see him make much of one either, so that's why I was confused.
Either way, I'm sorry if I have managed to upset you somehow? ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
2
u/neekthefreak 16d ago
i guess that's more my fault for having started all on the wrong foot. i could have just said "hey! that's a polish sausage"
2
u/Chris__P_Bacon 16d ago
I don't think you have anything to apologize for man. Unfortunately written language has the inability to portray tone. Have a good one.
