So are we all just ignoring the whole thing where if the cat so much as accidentally scratches the iguana, it'll be a serious problem due to the bacteria on the cat's claws? Like it's serious enough that you generally should not let your cats get close to your reptiles.
Are we all just forgetting that? Or is that not a thing in this scenario? Or do yall just not care?
EDIT: Jesus christ yall I was just genuinely confused. Sorry if it came off badly.
Same with birds yet its nuts how many people on social media eat up vids where cats and birds are playing together.
I think it comes down to a lot of people viewing these videos just dont know the underlying risks which is why proper pet education education is important.
Yeah, how dare I expect pet owners to know shit about the animals in their care. My mistake.
It's not like this is some obscure thing, usually I see people consistently bring it up whenever a video like this gets posted. I'm just suprised that I'm the only one this time. A single Google search "is it safe to let my cat interact with my lizard" is all it takes to figure this out.
You think the people who made that video are writing all the comments here? I don’t own a cat. I don’t own a lizard. A very tiny fraction of people do. Why would I google that ever in my life? You have niche knowledge. Share it with out being some pearl clutching weirdo judging everyone else for not knowing that niche knowledge
Again, in my experience someone always brings this up whenever a video like this is posted. I'm essentially just suprised that apparently none of the rest of yall have ever seen that.
I'm not expecting you to Google it, I'm expecting you to have seen one of the billion other comments on the thousands of other videos like this. That's also how I originally learned this in the first place.
Anyways, all I did is ask a question, because in my experience normally a lot more people bring this up (and are much less polite about it than I've been) and I was genuinely curious why no one else here did. If my tone came off poorly I apologize, but you can bring that up without being a condescending weirdo.
I mean you aren't wrong but the chances are rather low and I'd assume the owner is nearby and can bring either one of them to a vet if there's something happening. I wouldnt let them snuggle freely all day but its fine for a few seconds for a video I think 🤷♂️
Reptile AND cat ownership... The iguana may be chill now, but with how differently species can communicate, one wrong move (even if supervised) can cause harm to either one. Iguanas don't exactly have the best reputation when it comes to being nice
