Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone you can now fish in VR and still watch your actual TV

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey, I work on Real VR Fishing for Quest.

Last holiday we threw in a mixed reality mode as kind of a test, not really expecting much. People ended up liking it a lot more than we thought, so we decided to make it a permanent feature.

While we were at it, we added room scanning. You scan your room and pick which parts become the fishing spot, and everything else stays as your real room. So you can leave your TV visible with the game on and fish in the rest of the space. Honestly that’s how a lot of us play anyway lol.

It’s in the base game, so if you’re on Horizon+ you can just jump in and try it.

Curious what you guys think, or what else you’d want to keep visible while fishing.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone I trained an AI that turns any song into a Beat Saber map

Hey all! I've been building beatmapai, a tool that takes an audio file and makes it a playable custom map: all five difficulties, Easy to Expert+, with lights, walls and bombs. Everything in the video was generated by it.

Just a heads up: I tried posting this here yesterday and people were upset that I was charging for generations, so I've made it free(!) with the hopes that a supporter tier will help fund and keep this going for everyone. I'm a solo developer and every map needs AI models on a rented server, meaning every song costs real money to make.

At this [beta] stage, I'm super keen to get feedback on the mapping capabilities (there's a mechanism for this on the site after you generate).

Hope you enjoy!

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone I made a retro PC app for standalone Quest, complete with floppy disks, working buttons, and Windows 98

I wanted to use an old PC in VR, so I made DOSK. It runs directly on Meta Quest. No connected PC or desktop streaming is involved.

The video shows swapping floppy disks, inserting a Doom CD and installing the game, running Windows 98, and browsing some of the settings.

Disk image files appear as floppy disks and CDs on your desk. You can pick them up, insert them into the drives, press the hardware buttons, and open and close the CD tray. The activity LEDs flicker, and the drives make hard disk and floppy seek sounds.

You can run DOS software or install Windows 95 and 98 using your own installation media. Compatible games also support 3dfx Voodoo acceleration.

There’s an experimental stereoscopic 3D option for supported Voodoo-accelerated games, with adjustable depth inside the virtual monitor. These aren’t full VR ports.

CPU speed, memory, graphics, sound, and controller mappings are configurable. Compatibility and performance vary by title.

I’m the developer, so happy to answer questions about how it works. For me, getting the little interactions right was just as important as getting the games running.

This is Thousands at War, a large-scale VR battle sandbox I’ve been working on for Quest 3/3S.

You can create the armies, set their sizes, command them, and then fight inside the battle yourself in first person.

The base game will be free to play.

If anyone wants to wishlist it, I’ll put the Meta Store link in the comments :)

This is an experimental development build. The latest cockpit features have been tested on native Quest; dedicated PCVR testing and performance improvements are ongoing. Stable 72 FPS across gameplay has not yet been achieved.

You need your own supported original Xbox USA/NTSC-U game data. No original game files are included. The Quest importer supports ISO/XISO, ZIP and 7z. For PCVR, extract compressed archives first and import the ISO/XISO.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone I built a Minecraft AR tabletop for Quest 3: a Java world on my floor, with working Java multiplayer

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on a passthrough app for Quest 3 that puts a section of a real Java Minecraft world on a table or the floor. A Paper plugin streams the chunks to the headset.

What's in the video:

- Cat on the terrarium, with the Java player standing on the mountain next to it

- Grabbing, turning and scaling the world, all the way up to walking inside it

- The block menu, and building with the ray

- A split screen: the Java player's figure in the AR house on one side, and the giant headset avatar seen from the Java side on the other

Multiplayer works over a LAN game: my fiancée joins from her desktop and I see her player move around in my room. Next up is a public server where a headset player shows up as a giant.

It's early and a bit rough. It's open source, and I'd love to hear what you'd want from something like this.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone Launching a VR co-op game isn’t easy: but seeing people play together makes it worth

Daumier: Lila & Ghost is officially out on Meta Quest today, and getting here has been exciting, stressful, and full of lessons.
Getting attention for a new game is tough. You’re trying to explain what makes it special, build a community, coordinate creators, and make sure people have support when they jump in.
Co-op adds another challenge: someone can love the idea but still need a friend with a headset and time to play. That’s why we’re offering buy one, get one free for the first month and helping players find partners through Discord.
In Daumier, one player is Lila in the present and the other is Ghost in the past. Different clues, different perspectives, and a mystery you can only solve together.
It’s been a lot of work, but watching people communicate, laugh, and finally figure out a puzzle together makes it all worth it.
Thank you to everyone who helped us get here. ❤️Daumier:Lila&Ghost

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone I made a VR arcade shooter where your ship follows your hand – free demo on Quest

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Hi! I'm a solo indie dev and just released Lone Link, a VR arcade space shooter in the spirit of classic vertical shooters. Your ship follows your hand, the auto-cannon does the shooting, and you dodge fire, collect power-ups and fight giant bosses.

Two modes: Arcade (the ship takes the hits) and Fitness (bullets are aimed at you, so you dodge with your whole body).

Free demo (first 12 waves, 3 bosses): https://www.meta.com/experiences/lone-link-demo/1314490271753334/

Full game (50 waves, final flagship, Endless mode): https://www.meta.com/experiences/lone-link/1299984676537227/

I'd love to hear what you think, especially about comfort and difficulty. Thanks for playing!

Support - Resolved Youtube VR - Login to brand account (Quest Edition)

Today I tried Morphe on Youtube VR and needed to login again. Since I know I was logged in to my brand account, I knew there has to be a way.

https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/buklie/switching_channels_on_youtube_vr/

Here no solution was given. So I tried a few things (also answered over at the old thread):

  1. Open Youtube VR, log out from any accounts

  2. Open browser and login to youtube

  3. Change to Windowed Mode

  4. the login screen will appear with a 3 - 3 or 4 - 4 key-phrase, copy it

  5. Open yt.be/activate (or use the link presented inside windows youtube)

  6. use key-phrase and get asked which brand-account you want to connect

  7. ???

  8. Profit

PS: I wanted to make this more visible, hoping this also gets catched up by AI training :P (asked Google about this with no solution).

Discussion Questions about using Quest 3 for Entertainment

• Upvotes

Hi there!

I’ve been looking at getting the Quest 3 (not sure which model) for a bit now, and had tried the Quest 2 before since a friend owned it, but it’s been years since I’ve used it and don’t remember it very clearly.

I would mainly want to use the Quest for entertainment, especially since Disney+ got a native app and Crunchyroll seems to be coming out soon. However I had a few things I couldn’t find out online:

  1. On the Apple Vision Pro, there’s a theatre mode where your surroundings go completely black, and all you have is the screen. Is that the same with the Quest? Or does it differ app to app?

  2. Also just in general what is the entertainment experience like for the different streaming apps (D+, Prime, Youtube/Netflix on Browser, etc)

  3. Are there realistic environments that aren’t spheres? I loosely remember the OS having support for environments, but I remember most of them being either textures mapped onto a sphere, or mostly lower poly or sometimes “gimmicky” environments.

  4. Overall how different does the Quest 3 feel from the Quest 2 for people who had both?

Sorry if the questions seem a little flat, but I had a lot of difficulty finding answers to the questions and didn’t know where else to try asking. Thanks for the help in advance!

Discussion Three headset failures in a month.

my first quest 3 was a gift and I had no issues for 11 months. mostly played dungeons of eternity and some pcvr stuff via virtual desktop.

then it stopped tracking.

got a warranty refurb replacement and it immediately had the same tracking issue.

third headset worked for a few days and now has ghosting on one side. literally unplayable.

oh and the left controller stopped tracking two weeks ago and they have yet to ship the replacement. so I guess that's 4 failures in a month.

is this normal? do they not qc the refurbished units at all?

Edit: someone on the meta forums says they've been waiting 6 months for a replacement controller. link

Also, I'm asking specifically if it's normal for refurbished units specifically to fail so much.

Support - Standalone The permanent crash (vailvr)

(Original post by me is on r/vailvr)

I was playing vail (on quest 2) with a friend when a kid walks up to me and crashes my game. My friend said he did it with a hat, and now every time I play it runs for a minute or two before closing or just crashing. Does anyone know how to fix this.

(Edit) after I cleared the cash, uninstalled and reinstalled, then cleared the cash again it seems to have fixed or at the very least vastly lessened the crash chance.

(Edit 2) the amount of times the game itself crashes seems to be negligible however, now my quest randomly resets itself mid game. Im not shore if this is just a coincidence or not but I have so far given up.

(Edit 3) factory resetting doesn't seam to have done much, if anything. I fear im Journaling my quests last moments without even knowing it.

(Note: I do plan to keep this post updated if the situation changes)

PCVR FPS ISSUES Quest 3 PCVR

Hi, I'm having problems with PCVR on my Quest 3. I'm using Steam Link.

My PC specs:

GPU: RX 9070 XT

CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X

RAM: 32GB Patriot Viper Elite 6000MHz CL30

In VRChat worlds like FISH, when I move using the right analog stick, the movement feels delayed, almost as if the game is running at 40–50 FPS. It doesn't feel smooth at all. However, turning my head feels perfectly smooth.

I have no idea what to do... I've tried Half-Life: Alyx, and everything worked perfectly fine.

Discussion I wanna play in gray scale.

I was wondering how to not see any color in my quest 2 for a video, I thought it'd be funny not seeing color. I don't wanna use sidequest or anything like that because I don't wanna have a chance of ruining my headset. I've looked everywhere and I even started looking for only vrchat, but I couldn't find anything.
