Discussion Bro, why?! Spoiler

Same puzzle room. No more spinning platforms. In fact, no more platforms at all! Just run in, step on a switch right in front of you, turn around, and shoot through the torch at the eye, dummy!

Why are they dumbing things down like this?

This is completely unnecessary!

On top of that, wouldn’t this be the perfect puzzle to utilize the jump button they felt the need to add?!

This has me very worried.

Discussion Anyone else disappointed by the streamlining/dumbing down of puzzles?

I mean, I'm sure the game will still be great for someone that never played the original game. But for veteran and returning players, the fact that they are making the game much easier just means there's no reason for them to buy the game.

I know the latest footage disappointed me greatly, and now I'm 99% sure I won't bother to buy a Switch2+OoTRemake.

Things they dumbed down:

1) In the original game, it was not that obvious how to get out of the Fairy Slingshot room. You had to shoot a web to make the ladder fall down. Now you just need to shoot an eye switch to make the ladder fall down via a pinball mechanism. This makes it so much more obvious.

2) It seems the bombable wall in the Water Temple has been moved into the main central room, so now there's no longer any challenge and you don't need to remember where it was. You will be able to see the wall at all times.

3) The upper floor of the Deku Tree is no longer a circle, now the floor makes you stop and puts a platform in front of you, making it super obvious you need to jump down to break the cobwebs... Navi even says "Oh it's so high..."

4) The Forest Temple ice switch puzzle no longer requires you to time your shot while standing on that rotating platform, now you are stationary, making the puzzle trivial. What a shame, I thought the original puzzle was super iconic.

5) Floormasters are now impossible to miss, seriously, you would need to be blind now to get caught by one.

6) You no longer need to figure out you can latch onto wood with the Hookshot, since the Forest Temple entrance now requires you to use a normal hookshot target. Boring.

I do like that fairies no longer seem to fully restore your hearts though!

I really love the game how the game looks, and i'm sure it will play fantastically! The graphics look amazing and they seem to have retained the creepy factor of the original N64 version, instead of making everything cartoony like the 3DS version. However, the fact that they are making an already easy game even easier means there's absolutely no reason for someone like me to buy it. I finished the original game like 20 times and I played randomizers with max difficulty settings tons of times. This game has nothing to offer to me. What a shame that Nintendo seems so afraid to make any game challenging ever since the Wii generation...

Discussion Joining Zelda community

Hey everyone!

I have never played any Zelda game and my first one will be Ocarina Of Time remake, when it comes out.

Is there anything I should know before? Will it be hard for me and do new players do well?

Thanks a lot 🤗

Discussion This is just too similar to not dismiss

When I saw this, I was like, this is almost exactly like in TotK and I don't think I saw this ruin in the og oot or the 3ds version. So why is it similar between these two games?

Discussion [OOT] “New Floormaster sucks, why did they give it a spotlight, it’s far too telegraphed now” meanwhile the original with shadow spotlight that was extremely telegraphed

Question Can someone explain the ending? Spoiler

So, Link gets sent back so he can have his childhood/growing up to himself, rather than having those years effectively stolen from him by his heroic task.

The Master Sword's put back, the Door of Time is still open, Navi flies off for some reason.

So what point did Link get sent back to?

I saw some people say that it's before Link met Zelda, because she seems shocked to see him, but the spiritual stones are still there, which didn't happen until after Link met Zelda. He learned Zelda's Lullaby after that, which must've happened else he wouldn't even have been able to gather the spiritual stones. Link still has his shield and the Kokiri sword too.

And then I've seen people say that Link, after defeating Ganon, goes to warn Zelda about him, but she's the one who was sus about Ganondorf anyway, so huh?

Feels like the game is being dumbed down which is concerning

A 5th bottle for health, a deku scrub item to call him where ever to buy stuff, hookshots to make things more obvious, wallmasters dropping with a spotlight, Navi and signposts now constantly point you in the right direction even more than before. Even some puzzles they changed look easier now and less obtuse than before.

And we've only seen like 10% of the game in previews so far but if that 10% reflects what they did in every area of the game it is concerning.

I am getting deeply concerned.

Why isn't there a demo on Switch 2 yet.

I really think there should be. I already pre-ordered, but I want to play a demo. Like just through the Deku Tree (I know I'm assuming it's similar enough to section out). I would play that over and over. Parents could get their kids hyped. Am I wrong here? Sorry if someone already asked. I also know it's not something they typically do for Zelda but come on. DK has one. Just sayin.

A little disappointed with how the combat looks

I understand the original game was never necessarily difficult but this time around I was hoping for a bit more integration of the combat mechanics compared to the N64.

Something like a guard meter so you'd be forced to mix up your defensive options with side hops and backflips.

I wanted the different slashes to be more important to pass enemy defenses (horizontal slash, vertical slash, thurst, etc.)

I do appreciate that the combat looks faster paced with less waiting, and that multiple enemies will actually attack at once instead of waiting their turn. But more or less it just looks like a "faster" N64 combat model rather than a legit improvement.

Discussion I hope OOT remake change the locking system.

Post image

Not a fan of these four spinning shinny triangles. I always feel these triangles kinda annoying and distractive when I played the 3DS verson. Sometimes these triangles are even as big as the enemies. I prefer the BOTW version of the locking system, simple and easy.

edit, I don't know it can be turned off, though so far I'm not sure I can only turn this locking symbols off or have to turn off the whole HUD entirely.

Discussion The devs COULD include an option to have 3 item slots in the Remake if they wanted that.

For most of the game, the three equip slots in the original game actually worked pretty well. And there's no reason to not let players experience the remake that way instead of with the linear menu that it's reusing from BotW.

Current Control Scheme

ZR is the only item slot, and both L and R open the linear menu for switching between items.

Possible Alternative Control Scheme

ZR, R, and L are all item slots.

If there is confirmation that this is already an option, let me know!

Did Ocarina of Time pull a Hollow Knight?

The newest Zelda video showcases a unique feature we hadn't seen before: the Hall of Fallen Foes which really brings Hollow Knight's Pantheon to mind. It even has a timer!

Do you think they'll include a boss rush mode too?

Question Where do you think the Monster Hall will be located on the Hyrule map in the Ocarina of Time remake?

Thumbnail

With the Ocarina of Time remake dropping on November 5, 2026, Nintendo just revealed a brand new feature in the latest trailer: the Monster Hall. It's a museum-like facility where you can view every monster and boss you've defeated, read up on their stats, and replay the boss fights with a built-in timer!

Since this is a totally new addition to the map, where do you think it is physically hidden in the world of Hyrule?

Could it be tucked away in a secret chamber inside Kakariko Village graveyard, hidden beneath the Desert Colossus, or maybe built into an expanded section of Hyrule Castle Town?

Drop your best theories below on where we'll discover the Monster Hall.

Discussion [SPOILER] The new Temple of Light in the OoT remake is real (well, maybe)!!! Spoiler

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

In a gameplay video showing players invited by Nintendo to test Ocarina of Time before its release, I noticed the symbol of the Medallion of Light on the floor of the Temple of Time. This might confirm the theory that a Temple of Light previously hidden could actually exist! In the original game, Rauru simply hands us the medallion without any explanation, whereas every other medallion is associated with its own specific temple. This symbol wasn't there before am I the only one seeing this? It’s incredible! Perhaps this is why Nintendo was so restrictive about players exploring this particular area.

Out of consideration for those who might not want to know what the Temple of Time looks like, I’ve opted to add a spoiler tag to this post even if it turns out not to be accurate in the end.

Then again, I might be talking nonsense perhaps this symbol was already there in version 64 and I just never noticed it (in which case it wouldn't mean anything). Feel free to correct me if that’s the case! :)

Trying to beat OOT before launch on NSO

Post image

OOT is my favorite game. I’ve beaten it countless times on every system it’s been on, N64, GameCube, 3DS, and now NSO before NS2 launch. I’m 1/3 done, just beat the Forest Temple. I forgot about the hands dropping from the ceiling! Anyone else replaying before Nov 5?

Am i the only one that noticed how weird link looks in the OOT Remake

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just watched the official trailer And I can't help but my only thought is that link looks like a snotty nose kindergartener. I was super hyped for this game I still am But I'm kinda pissed that they changed links look so much ik the original came out in '98 on the 64. but if im being 100% honest he looks lost and confused in every clip and its annoying because in the original link apeared very confident. But just look at the picture attached and tell me is doesn't look like a 4 year old that just got its toy snached and doesn't know what todo.

Question To any of you who’s first 3D video game was OOT back at release, how far were you in the game before playing in the 3rd dimension started feeling Intuitive and more natural?

Just something I’m curious about, because I was born in 2000 And by the time I was old enough to comprehend video games they were already dual stick control 3D games so it’s always been the default for me
