Looks like someone passed away next to the Chevron gas station on York and 64th. Does anyone know what happened ?

The old G-Son Studios building with Blue Jam and Dresscue on the corner of Glendale and Larga traded. New tenants replacing those include Maison Atwater, from the guys who own Oh La La in Pasadena, and Forme Pilates, whose first location is in Burbank. Also, G-Son studios is working on creating a live music venue!

My husband and I are considering mediation because neither of us wants to burn through our savings fighting over a divorce. The issue is that he handled most of our finances during the marriage. I know about our house, retirement accounts and primary checking/savings, but he also has stock compensation and some investment accounts that I never really followed.

He's saying he'll disclose everything and I don't have proof he's hiding money. I just don't know enough to know whether what I'm seeing is complete. We have one child and are fairly close on custody, so the financial side is the biggest uncertainty.

For anyone in LA who mediated a divorce involving more complicated finances, did you have your own attorney or financial professional reviewing things in parallel? At what point does uncertainty about money make mediation a bad idea?

The tagging and amount of garbage on and around 110 FWY is getting out of control. Almost every sign has some form of tagging. Anyone else noticing this? Are we really OK with this?

I wrote a letter for the Action Network letter campaign: Save San Pascual Park - Stop the Arroyo Seco Water Reuse Project.

The City of Pasadena is making moves to destroy our beloved San Pascual Park and turn it into a water treatment facility that would divert fresh water from the Arroyo Seco to the South Pasadena Golf course. Residents of both LA and Pasadena oppose this project - we value our park and the native habitat it provides. Please take a minute to send a comment to the City of Pasadena's Department of Public Works on their Environmental Impact Report on the Arroyo Seco Water Reuse Project. Let them know that taking water from native habitats for a golf course is never an environmentally friendly move, no matter how they try to spin their report.

I am sick and tired of ICE’s terror campaign, and I want to protect my community in El Sereno from the threat of ICE. Toward this end, I would like to do some community organization and probably door knocking. Please DM me if you live in El Sereno (or are interested in activism in El Sereno) and would like to participate in direct or indirect ways. I am a leftist, but I don’t need you to be. Our community needs people willing to do the work of bringing ourselves together because there is power in numbers, and I know we have the numbers. I would also be interested in hearing about groups in El Sereno doing this kind of work if you know of any (I didn't find anything, hence this post). Thanks for reading this.

Smelling so much smoke near Fig x York. Not seeing any fires on the Watch Duty app at the moment. Anyone know if there's a fire nearby?

Just moved to Montecito Heights - between Highland Park and El Sereno. I crave a great bean rice and cheese burrito. Anyone have a good suggestion? I've found some great tacos and burritos, but meat focused and some spots don't have rice. The BRC is my happy place. Send help.

My 12 year old goes to an unconventional school that is closed on Wednesdays. I'm looking for activities/lessons/classes he could do during school hours, especially in the morning. At this point I'm open to private lessons even though they're pricier. Thanks!

Hello! I had a sudden work conflict come up and am not able to attend DARKSIDE tonight @ Lodge Room (Weds 9/30/2026 @ 8:00PM show). Just trying to make sure the ticket does not go to waste.

If you're interested in attending, I have already spoken with the venue via email and they confirmed I will be able to forward you my confirmation email as admission into the concert. They do not have an official resale website, but assured me this method is legit and they will allow entry to anyone with my email.

1 Face Value Ticket, I paid $60 at on-sale, but these tickets are now $70 on their site. I will gladly let the ticket go for $60. Would save the purchaser a bit versus purchasing on their website. Hope we can work it out! Thank you. I have shared a link to the event page, for more details.

Helping our wonderful nanny find her next family (Glendale, Pasadena / NELA area)

We're helping our nanny Wendy find her next long-term family. She's been with us since 2023 and has been absolutely wonderful with our little one — we'd keep her forever if we could.

About Wendy:

- 20+ years as a nanny in Los Angeles, plus 2 years as an elementary school teacher in Guatemala

- Infant specialist: most placements started when the babies were 2-6 months old, including a set of twins

- Stays for years: 4-6 years with each of her last several families, with glowing references from all of them

- Spanish-speaking (happy to speak Spanish with your kids!) and understands English perfectly

- Handles light housekeeping: laundry, dishes, tidying, plus some cooking

- CPR and first aid certified (September 2026)

- Based in Highland Park

What she's looking for:

- 32-40 hours/week

- Our ideal: a family who needs Monday-Thursday (we'd keep her Fridays) — but she's open to full-time Mon-Fri with the right family

- Glendale, Pasadena, South Pasadena, Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Silver Lake

- Rate: $32/hr

She's warm, reliable, and genuinely loves this work. Happy to chat with any family considering her and share more about our experience — DM me here.

Hey ya’ll. I rescued this young cat off the streets of Highland Park. I’m calling him Ferguson. The vets put him at 18 months to 2 years old. He’s been:

-Neutered
-Vaccinated (FVRCP and rabies)
-Microchipped
-SNAP tested (negative!)
-Flea treated
-De-wormed

He’s an exceptional cat: playful, affectionate, vocal, food-motivated, litter box trained, and cute as hell.

He’s come a long way with his socialization but may need a beat to decompress. He doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body and generally wants to be on or near us at all times. Sleeps on the bed every night too. And did I mention: he’s CUTE!

I’m seeking his forever home with a cat-lover who will grant him grace as he settles in. He WILL become your lap cat in time. His wand toy and temptations are the keys to his heart.

Please reach out if you’re interested in chatting about this wonderful boy! Thank you!

Edit: I should also add that he’ll come complete with all the supplies you’ll need to welcome him into your home: bowls, litter box, toys, some food, even a cat tree. There will be an adoption fee as well.

Hi all, my husband and I are looking to move this coming winter and we are loving NELA. We have family that way and we are finally wanting to plant roots. We were trying to decide between South pass and Eagle rock, but then we keep finding other places in NELA that we adore, so we need help!! Please tell me the best neighborhood and why.

We are a young family late 30s with a baby on the way. We both work outside the home as well. We are looking for a strong sense of community, things to do, yoga, eateries, walkability, coffee shops, bars, sushi, pizza, good grocery stores....all the things. It doesnt need to be only baby friendly but it also doesnt need to be young singles only. A diverse mix of people would be perfect. I do like a yuppie vibe as well lol

Stumptown just opened its flagship location. A few pop-ups have started here and there, and the lines at Moo’s Craft BBQ are insane. I also just saw online that studios on 34th Ave are starting at $2k. Will we see Lincoln Heights completely different in a couple years?
