Microwaving raw fish is actually an effective way to steam-cook them without a steamer. I've been doing this my entire life, though with soy sauce, ginger, and green onion instead of olive oil and lemon.
A microwave defenitly isnt a steamer. Its a microwave. Certain foods might behave the same but i can drop my keys in a steamer without a problem and i havent made plasma in a old steamer.
So a fryingpan is a steamer? And a deepfryer is a steamer filled with oil? A toaster is just a steamer with shitty electrical engineering right?
Because i know in a jackass but a microwaving certian foods ruins them completly where a steamer wouldnt ruin them.
A microwave makes many thing change texture. Due to the way it makes water boil (mostly from the inside out versus a steamer which heats outside to inside).
No, because a microwave doesn't really heat up most foods that don't have any water in them. Put dry saltine crackers by themselves in your microwave and watch them not heat up.
But your toaster oven will definitely heat them up.
The whole reason that a microwave is a steamer is because it heats up the water but only the water, mainly.
The reason that a microwave isn't a steamer is that it doesn't add moisture, it boils whatever is there to begin with. So unless you add extra it will dry out the food
