Nightmare Most disturbing dream I've ever had but it wasn't your typical horror

Ok so unlike a normal nightmare this one was more my brain torturing me for some reason. I don't remember all of it and it's pretty nonsensical but here it is.

So it started off pretty normal by me hanging out with some people i knew from school but was friends with here. We were in some nonsensical backrooms type space and i told them i would meet them further ahead at the tenis court. So i walked a bit faster by myself and met them further ahead at the tenis court. Then we all walked out of this strange place and i was transported to the next scene of the dream.

I was now on a flight to the USA but when i landed i had some missing parts of my fingers on both hands. Some of my right pinky was gone and so was parts of my left one and the next finger. Anyway i went and sat down at some tsa machine where you had to put your bag on and fill out a questionnaire both on a computer screen and on a piece of paper. There was a woman next to me who couldn't speak english so the tsa agent had to help them set the language to theirs. after that some mean girls came by and started taking my sheet of paper and messing with me so that i couldn't complete the check. I told the tsa agents about this but they didn't seem to care. Suddenly someone walks past and slices off my right pinky with a sharp glass object as they walk by. This caused me to scream in agony and the horror of what had just happened.

Then the next scene happened and i was talking to my mum who let me know that i had some rare disease that was causing my hands to decay.

Then it quickly shifted to this building where i was taking part in this strange gameshow for entrepreneurs that wasn't actually being recorded. The entrepreneurs would also later reveal themselves as having some kinds of superpowers. So at some point during this "show" i was on the roof with some of the others but feeling bad about how i couldn't help them paint due to my now mangled hands. Then one of the women contestants was being dragged through the window by some spiderman web and she would die a horrible death if nobody helped. I tried to help her by stopping her from getting pulled through but was too weak and she got splattered against the other building. I then collapsed on the stairs and started decaying as the other contestants would walk by either not caring or saying mean things to me. This sequence was a timelapse of weeks where i was just laying there helplessly decaying. I finally stood up and had an email from a doctor nearby that could save me so i began to walk down the stairs towards the door. As i was doing so i realised my left hand was falling apart badly and my skin had started to split open and my whole hand was weak red raw and grey. But as i was walking down the stairs the other contestants started walking down too but started to bully me and shove me against the wall. I begged them to stop as my hand was weak but they didn't listen and kept going until the whole thing fell off.

I decided to walk back upstairs where i found two brothers that were contestants talking to the host at a desk. They were saying they were done with life and wanted to kill themselves whilst crying. I told them i also wanted to kill myself because of losing my hands and everything else that had happened.

Then i woke up and of course i had to check my hands. Both arms were numb due to bad circulation so i couldn't really move them for a few seconds (maybe this is what had caused the hands thing to manifest in the dream). Luckily they were fine but my bed had been drenched from how much i was sweating and i let out a " oh thank god" that none of that was real.

Now i feel really sorry for anyone who has actually lost their hands due to some accident or disease. Man in that dream i was devastated that i had lost mine to the point of wanting suicide. So yeah not your typical nightmare about one specific scary monster or anything but still the most terrifying one i have ever experienced.

Also feel like this could be the plot of a horror game similar to cry of fear where the game gets harder as you progress due to losing parts of your hands. And the main characters mental decline is explored until they finally snap and end it all.

TW: I keep having vivid and disturbing dreams about babies dying in horrific ways

• Upvotes

I have extremely vivid nightmares almost every night and many of them revolve around disturbing deaths of babies or child-related things. I have no idea if this means anything or not.

One dream I had recently involved a cult that forced its women to have abortions if they got pregnant out of wedlock, and then they secretly were feeding the aborted fetuses to the members of the cult during feasts.

Another dream I had involved a chimp holding a human baby right in front of the baby’s mother, and suddenly the chimp tore the baby’s head off, and the mother started clapping enthusiastically.

Nightmare Traumatic nightmares

Does anyone else have traumatic nightmares? I was having them 3-4 times a week so they put me on Prazosin which helps but I still get them here and there. I’d love to not rely on a medication… but I have no idea what to do to stop them naturally. They’re scary to the core and very VERY violent. I’m always being attacked and forced to defend myself. I’ve shot people, stabbed people, watched my loved ones be brutally murdered. An odd aspect that usually wakes me from the nightmare is that the wounds never have blood. It makes me stop and be like wtffff which jolts me awake. I wake up in a panic attack, feeling traumatized and when I eventually fall back to sleep after watching a Pixar movie for a while, most of the time I get thrown back into the same nightmare. I try to not watch anything remotely stressful in the evenings.. any advice is welcomed at this point..

TW: I just had one of the worst dreams of my life

TW: mentions of suicidal thoughts

My life is pretty complicated in several ways. I'm dealing with serious problems that make it hard to enjoy my current life, especially the environment I'm in. I try to find some rest, and it turns out that even there, I end up facing the worst.

I'd rather not share the dream itself, but it deeply shook me.

I don't know if you understand or have ever been through this: the kind of dream so awful that you want to cry the moment you wake up, that makes you wonder why your brain is capable of imagining things so horrible, disgusting and terrifying, and that keeps you awake because you're afraid to fall back asleep.

In that moment, I just wanted to die. I was thinking: my life is terrible, my dreams are even worse, just end it already.

I also found life so unfair. I'm full of trauma that shows up in my dreams, and I'm the one who has to deal with it alone while the people responsible walk free. I'm the one who has to endure the nightmares, the therapy, the rebuilding. I'm the one who suffers, who will keep suffering, and who has to fix it all. I'm still young, and I already feel like I've been dealing with this for so long.
When I realized that, I wanted to stop existing.

My dreams are no longer a gentle escape but maybe a prison, and it makes my stomach knot up. It feels like there's no end to this ordeal. Even if I grow up and move to a different environment, I'll still be haunted by my trauma and my dreams will keep going, right? When will it stop?

Nightmare Last Nights Dream

I don’t really remember much of the dream, but what I do remember is that I was barefoot and walking out of a place, it might’ve been my home, through a sliding door into my backyard. Just as I step out I step on the abdomen of a black widow and it pops. I look down on it and its abdomen area is squished with black goo around it.
It’s such an odd dream and i’ve been thinking about it all day. I don’t usually dream about black widows or any spiders.

Nightmare Dream within a dream

Start as me waking up to a fuzzy male figure with white shirt at the end of my bed trying to talk to me. The room is only lit up as it usually is at night IRL. He's there to find a solution to my life by talking. That's when I realize this man may just be a dream and may be taking the figure of me as a therapist attempting some sort of successful hypnosis.

As I go along with it still processing what this dream is about and I'm talking to this figure I start realizing this is something to be cautious about. The figure realizes I'm realizing and when it's confirmed screams a shriek sound as he stops being fuzzy looking. Puts his hand inside my mouth, grabs me from my jaw and attempts to open my mouth while attempting to break my back in 2 pieces as if he is trying to enter my body. I wake up.

Lovely at 6am....

TW: inquiry of nightmare sharing Trauma and Sleep Student Research

Hi everybody!

I am part of a student team researching potential solutions/aids/therapeutic techniques for people with recurring nightmares. If you are a sleep researcher, trauma/sleep/ptsd therapist, your loved ones struggle, or you have your own experiences with recurring nightmares yourself, we would love to hear from you about your experiences and/or research in this area. I understand that, as humans, this can be a very personal experience, and if you don't want to share, scroll on by, but if you do, my team and I would love to hear from you about what this is like for you/your clients, what you currently do to treat this, what works/what doesn't, what struggles you have with existing treatments, or what you are still searching for. Thank you to anybody that has input, and if you struggle with recurring nightmares, we hope you sleep safely and peacefully tonight and in the future :)
