I’ve spent 20 ish years on smaller popsicle decks.
7.75 - 8.5”

I hurt my foot badly last year and decided to get a wider setup, as a rehab board to chill with.
I did a 10.3” and I fell in love with skating all over again!
Now I’m on a 9.5” egg shape and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever turn back.

There is an unnecessary amount of struggle to skate a popsicle deck under the size of 9”. (Unless you’re an experienced skater ofc, but before you come with a ”snappy” comment. Know that this post ain’t about you.)

Some might say to learn on a skinny deck and go up to a bigger. But I say otherwise!
At the start, you want to learn basic control. Pushing, riding down curbs. Tic tacs and the likes.
You are way better off with something more stable and planted under your feet for this early process.

*I’m not a pro. But have skated for most of my life and teached more kids/teenagers/adults than most.
So take it as you wish, but this is based on many years of experience.

Have fun! 🍻

tips for committing shuv it

Hii im try to learn shuv its for like 1,5 month i know how to scoop well but i just cannot bring my back feet up the board i know its commitment issue and i generally don't know how to trick my mind to do it. I feel i will ruin my board if i try to do on grass and it creates a bad habit. I filmed myself like on 10 different days but i just can't give my your (un)hinged tips. I already heard that you have to imagine yourself to get over a rope but it doesn't click. Also doesn't help that im 23 which makes skating mentally tough comparing to a child/teen

Actualmente estoy usando la tablas de skate de marca distretto, pero nose si la mejor opción, que opciones me recomiendan para patinar? Y otra pregunta, que tenis me recomiendan para skate que no sean tan caros?

How to choose protection?

Hii everyone, so everything is in the question. I’m tryna get back to skating (I’m 18) and last time I skated I was around 7-8 years old it was a longgg time ago. I’ve never used protection as a kid, I didn’t know about it at all, didn’t even have a helmet but I don’t really wanna risk anything now and I don’t know what protections to buy.
Do I just take a random set of protection and a random helmet as long as they fit me and are made for skating or are some better than others?
Also about the shoes, I’m definitely lost here what do I look for to find skating shoes that aren’t worth my left kidney?

Which board size should i get?

I weigh 240 pounds and im 5'8 and my shoe size is 11 in a half should i go with the 8.5 deck with the 149 thunder trucks or the 8.75 with the 151 independent trucks? And if 8.75 is better for me should i stick with the 52mm wheels i chose? I wanna do street skating like grinding small lips, curbs and jumping small 2 set stairs what would be better for me?

Trying to figure out why I can’t keep this board under me. I think it’s my flick? I’ve gotten really close here and there but it feels very hard to keep my shoulders over the board + my knee sort of ahead. Any tips and spare time to help are welcome !

Question Sonido de skate... ¿Porque algunos suenan diferente?

Hola!

Question how to make falls hurt less?

i started skating no too long ago and started with a huge fear of falling, to a level where i barely was able to get on the board.

after falling a few times, I've gotten past it, and now im much more confident with just being on the board.

however, i still fall, i have learned to accept it, but damn some fall really hurt.

im an overweight person, so keeping balance is a bit harder for me, and i end up falling on my sides a lot(ribs and just my whole body squashing my arm)

how can i land these falls much more safely?
