Hi everyone,
I need some genuine advice from people who understand Nepal's laws and have experience with online scams.
Today, I sent NPR 30,000 through eSewa to a 1xBet agent who I believe is registered with the platform. The agent was supposed to deposit the money into my 1xBet account, but the money was never credited.
I've already lost money betting on 1xBet before, and I'm aware that online betting is illegal in Nepal. That's why I'm worried about reporting this incident to the police. I'm afraid that if I report the agent for scamming me, I might also get into legal trouble because the payment was intended for betting.
I have the eSewa transaction receipt and screenshots of my conversations with the agent. I also have contact information for 1xBet and am considering contacting their support team to see whether they can investigate the agent or help recover my money.
I'd really appreciate advice on these questions:
- Could I face legal consequences if I report this incident to the police, given that the money was intended for online betting?
- Has anyone in Nepal dealt with a similar situation? What happened when you reported it?
- Is it worth contacting eSewa and 1xBet first to try to recover the money?
- Is there a way to get legal advice in Nepal before filing a police complaint?
I'm not trying to avoid responsibility for my own decisions. NPR 30,000 is a significant amount of money for me, and I don't want to make my situation worse by taking the wrong steps.
Please share genuine advice or personal experiences. I'd especially appreciate guidance from anyone familiar with Nepal's laws.
Thank you.
