Where do people in their early twenties find people around here?

Hello, hello. I'm a straight, twenty year old male that's lived here for most of my life, and I've been curious about something. Where do people find others to date? I know I could go outside and try my luck, but I've been very shy for most of my life, and I don't wanna be seen as someone weird, you know?

I've tried dating apps, but the women on there either one: Waste my time. Two: Want to do hookups. Or three: Just wanna talk instead of doing anything with me. I don't blame them for any of this, I just want to get somewhere with someone, you know? Taking all of that into account, I figured it'd just be better to go outside and find someone the "normal way". So does anyone have any suggestions for where I could go to meet new people?

For your information, I'm into philosophy, tarot cards, chess, traveling, art, and I game very lightly.

Thanks in advance :D

Wedding venue

Hello, I know this question has already been asked before but it’s been a few years.

My fiance and I are planning our wedding for next summer. We have family that has opened their space for us to have our reception/afterparty there. All we are looking for is a space to say “I do”. Venues around here are so expensive and I can’t justify spending that much money for a space we won’t be occupying very long. So where would you recommend we get married at, I know it’s tough setting an expectation of no strangers around so if there are any secluded areas wedding accessible I’d love to hear them!

To note: the family property is in Rothbury but very close to being montage so I would be open to spaces around that area as well.

Gym recommendations

Hi! I’m moving to the Muskegon area from the east side of Michigan and looking for a new gym. I’ve been looking into
Neal Fitness Center, but I’d love to hear people’s experiences there or get recommendations for other gyms in the area. I currently train at Edge Fitness and love it, so I’m curious if there’s anything comparable !? Thanks!!

Sunday, October 18 at 8:00 PM

Halloween is our season, so let's get out into the dark.

The Darkness Underground is gathering the Goths of Muskegon and fellow darklings for a night at the Fenner Road Halloween Trail. Come wander through the darkness, admire the decorations, get properly creeped out, and spend some time with other local weirdos who understand that Halloween should be more than just one night. We'll meet there at 8:00 PM and make our way through together.

Fenner Road Halloween Trail
4310 Fenner Rd
Muskegon, MI 49445

Once we've had our fill of haunted trails, we'll head over to the bonfires next to the Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park parking lot to warm up, hang out, and continue the evening.

Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park
462 Scenic Dr
Muskegon, MI 49445

Come in black. Come in costume. Come looking like you just crawled out of a crypt. Or just come as you are. Bring something warm for afterward and prepare to spend the evening in the dark.

This is an informal Darkness Underground gathering for the local goth and dark alternative community. Goths, horror fans, darklings, and fellow creatures of the night are all welcome.

The Fenner Road Halloween Trail is free (donations accepted, but not at all required), and open Thursday through Sunday nights.

Join The Darkness Underground at Cafe Tamaki on Wednesday, October 28th at 7:00pm for a special Halloween edition of our Horror Movie Nights. Admission is FREE!
For our Halloween installment, we'll be watching The House That Dripped Blood (1971), a classic British horror anthology featuring four sinister tales of murder, madness, vampires, and the supernatural.

Movie Info:
The House That Dripped Blood (1971)
Runtime: 102 minutes
Rating: Not Rated (R by today's standards)
Genre: Horror / Anthology / Gothic

A horror writer rents an isolated old house while working on his latest book. But there is something very wrong with the house, and its dark history is revealed through four terrifying stories involving the unfortunate people who have lived there.

A horror film star becomes obsessed with a mysterious cloak that seems to possess a life of its own. A writer encounters a sinister doll with a disturbing secret. A vampire hunter discovers that his new neighbor may not be quite what he seems. And an actor finds himself trapped in a terrifying supernatural nightmare.

Featuring Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Ingrid Pitt, Denholm Elliott, and Jon Pertwee, The House That Dripped Blood is a classic anthology of British horror that combines Gothic atmosphere, supernatural terror, black humor, and old-fashioned Halloween chills.

With four separate stories, a creepy old house, vampires, sinister objects, and plenty of supernatural scares, there's something here for fans of classic horror.

Come spend the Wednesday before Halloween with The Darkness Underground for an evening of vintage horror at Cafe Tamaki!

Venue:
Cafe Tamaki
1222 Peck St

Best side jobs in Muskegon to make an extra $200–$300 a week?

I work full-time Monday-Friday (8am-5pm) and am looking to make some extra money working just 1-2 shifts a week, preferably evenings or weekends.

I've been considering serving or bartending because of the tips, but I have no experience in either. I'm a fast learner and willing to learn!

A few questions:

  1. Is $200–$300 a week realistic working 1–2 shifts?
  2. Would serving or bartending be better for someone with no experience?
  3. Any recommendations for restaurants or bars around Muskegon that have good tips?
  4. Are there other side jobs worth considering?

I'm open to pretty much anything! Just looking for something flexible where I can make decent money without committing to another full-time schedule.

Would love to hear what everyone recommends or what you've personally had success with!

Another post looking for friends

UPDATE: I figured we may as well attend an already established event for a first hangout instead of creating a new one. I'm gonna go walk the fenner Halloween trail this Sunday evening the 18th at the event by Darkness Underground. Here's the event link https://facebook.com/events/s/goths-invade-fenner-road-hallo/1102972725577726/ Feel free to DM me if you wanna meet there!!

I apologize if you guys are sick of these, I've seen a few others trying to meet friends and connect here and I hoped it'd work for me! I'm 34F, moved to Muskegon 5 months ago and I absolutely love it!!

There are lots of things to do in and around muskegon this fall/winter and I'd love some friends to do stuff with! I'm looking for people who are progressive, love music, are open-minded and don't have a lot of drama going on. I'm single and child free, you don't have to be, but I'm more interested in people without kids haha sorry. I'm open to any age bracket as long as you're chill! I also smoke a lot of weed, would love some stoner buddies, I don't drink much and probably wouldn't get along with someone who drinks often. Here's some things I'm interested in doing:

-hike the lights at Muskegon luge

- any live music, I like punk, hardcore, jam bands, bluegrass, rock and hip hop, and probably more!

- haunted houses/trails

- lumberjacks games

- ice skating

- hikes/walks, biking, longboarding

- craft nights

- gym (still debating PF or Neal)

- west MI symphony

- go out to eat, I'm a huge foodie

- poetry nights, open mics

I'm sure there's more that I'm not thinking of. I'm also into reading, thrifting, tattoos, gaming, cooking, and have 3 dogs.

If I sound like your type of person hmu! If enough ppl reach out I'll start a group that meets weekly at a different local business or something!

I realize from my activities list I may appear to be super active and in shape, but I'm just *getting* in shape haha, cannot keep up with hardcore physical activity.

ETA: no weird shit! No romance! No dating! No swingers lol. Just friends

Thinking of moving to Lakeshore area

Hello, my girlfriend and I (21F and 22M) recently visited Muskegon from Flagstaff, AZ. We are going to be teachers, and are looking to move from AZ. While we found the city beautiful and enjoyable, what are some things to be aware of? Is there much to do for people our age? It didn’t seem like there was a ton to do, but we visited in August right before school started, so I think the town was in a bit of a lull. It seems like a very nice place to raise a family with a supportive and friendly school district. Any thoughts?

Remote work on weekends?

Hi all,

I am going through a tough time financially and am currently working during the week at a grocery store. I have a degree in Communications and also have experience editing and writing as a freelancer. My week day job is not cutting it and I don’t have a way of transportation other than walking/taking local transportation. I reside in Grand Haven and have had no luck finding supplemental income. I’m looking for work on Saturday and Sunday only. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
