Discussion Did anyone else growing up
Wish that someone's sister, or a friend who was a girl, would "tie you down" and "force" you to paint your nails or wear a dress or something?
I always wanted to grow my hair out, dye it, or get piercings, but my parents would always dissuade me from doing so. I kind of hoped that someone would do this to me as "torture" or something so it wasn't, like, "my fault" for wanting to wear makeup or try on girly stuff.
In pre-school, we had a reversed wedding roles kind of play day, and I still remember how I felt being a maid of honor and holding flowers for my best friend at the time. Probably stuck with me more than the other kids at the time 😅

Venting Hate that I wanted so long
I know posts like these are super common, but just kind of want to vent about it myself. I feel like i robbed myself of experiences and time that I will never get back. While I dont feel that way every day some days I just cant help but blame myself for waiting so long. I hate that I cared so much of what others thought of me and wanting to be what my parents expected me to be. I feel like this whole time I just wasted away being unhappy. Like literally threw away years and years of my life away simply because I didnt want to feel like id disappoint those around me, or be scared of losing them. It sucks that while I was trying to please these people I was just as alone and by myself which is what I wanted to avoid in the first place except instead of embracing myself I was living a lie for their sake. I wish there was a way for me to turn back time, and i do try and focus on now and make the best of what time I do have but some days are just hard.

Advice Question 2 questions about transition progress
First question, how much of a difference does wearing a bra make to breastfeed development? I saw a post on here not too long ago and it said something about it making a difference and just wanted to know how much of a difference it would make, for reference im 19 and about 1 month of estrogen and spironolactone
Second question, how much time does it take to start noticing actual breast development? Like I said im 19 about a month on both meds and ive noticed my ripple getting a bit more tender and never going soft once and just wanted to know how long until I see actual results
That's all for now

Milestone! Wanna get an epilator, any good suggestions?
Milestone cause im finally doing hair removal!
For reference, my budget here is 40 bucks max. Hopefully thats enough to get an atleast ok one, cause i cant afford to spend any more than that T_T
Preferably, i'd want one that charges via chord, fot simplicity and so i dont need to buy batteries
My mom's had the same epilator for like a decade and she says its worked well for her the whole time. She doesnt know exact brand but she thinks its Remington. Anyone know where to find? If it's good or nah?
Ive heard good things about the Braun Silk 9, but it is WAAAAYYY out of my rather small budget here, at least from what ive seen.
Anyone have any good suggestions? Thanks for advice ^_^
Note: Ik they hurt a lot, but from my research they sound like the best choice for me cause of the space between epilations, cause the only process is just shower and exfoliate, and cause you dont need to buy anything else. I'll probably be able to handle the pain, i'm a big girl >:3

Venting Performing masculinity due to heteronormative culture
I don’t know if it’s just due to me not being a man, but I feel like I recognized at a very young age that the only reason anyone wanted to fit broader society’s definition of masculinity was to be more attractive to women/avoid harassment and violence from men.
For context, I’m finsexual with an extreme preference for women.
Growing up I was naturally effeminate, I only had female friends, and I had a naturally high voice due to being a late bloomer (which I now mourn in baritone)
My friends referred to me as their “straight gay best friend”
Once I hit my tweenage years I started developing an interest in dating. It felt like no girls would ever be attracted to me, or that they would never be able to conceive the fact that I was attracted to them, if I didn’t change all of my mannerisms.
I felt a deep sense of shame about my effeminate nature. As if because I wasn’t a gay man I was deceiving women around me to make them more comfortable with my presence, like some sort of predator, even though I never lied about my identity/sexuality (Well apart from telling the whole world I’m a man, but arguably that’s a lie the world told me first)
Had I never been exposed to heteronormative culture/had no internalized homophobia, how much earlier would I have begun my transition?
Code switching between femininity and masculinity became so second nature that once I was an adult I actually convinced myself it was a mechanism I developed to earn better tips. (The things we tell ourselves to keep that egg intact)
Even now that I’ve been on HRT for 4 months I still don’t know how to turn it off. The second my wonderful girlfriend of 5 years, the only person who knows I’m trans, walks into the room my brain instantly wants to switch back into guy mode.
Same thing whenever I interact with a man. It’s like a stupid little part of my brain is like “if they can’t perceive me as my gender, then at the very least I can project the kind of energy that will make them understand I’m in no way attracted to them”
I know if/when I start passing guys are just gonna assume I’m straight, so maybe this is just an aspect of womanhood I’ll need to get more comfortable with. It just sucks that if I try to behave more naturally people just assume I’m a gay man which is the exact opposite of my true identity.
TL;DR I probably need to find a therapist

Trans and Thriving What I've done recently, transition-wise
This will be a short list of the things I've done to feel more comfortable, because I feel really proud of myself.
I learned how to take care of my hair/brows. I have some short bangs right now, and I love the look. Messing with my brows was a little thing, but it really helps me feel better about myself.
I learned how to do a little makeup. Makeup was the big one, and it's what I'm most proud of. I don't use a ton, I just have some tinted moisturizer I put on and blend, and then some highlighter on my cheekbone area, and my nose. With some mascara, I think it makes me look pretty good. It really was the step I needed to take to start feeling so much better about my transition.
Voice training. I've been doing way better with feminizing my voice, and I feel awesome about it. It's not perfect yet, but it takes time, and I know that.

Trans and Thriving Body change
Hi everybody, I am almost 2 years into HRT and I am pretty happy with some of the results. I know that my testosterone is still pretty active. Don’t get me wrong. I feel very feminine almost 24 seven but I still feel that manly thinking which I know it is testosterone. I have been doing a lot of thinking about having a procedure done, which is.orchiectomy I know once I do this I will not have any testosterone interfering with my E. I’m very excited about that because I know they were help me think more differently and feel more differently. I am working with my insurance to have it done in San Francisco I’m an older trans female in my 60s. I don’t look sexy. I don’t feel 60 is there any other older trans out there that have had that procedure and what did you notice different about yourself?

Advice Question Is it safe to travel to the US?
Hi all, I'm looking into travelling to the US next year, as I really want to attend an event in the summer. I know the event and the people I'll be with are 100% queer friendly and safe, but I'm really stressing out about actually getting into the country.
I'm from Europe and can get a visa easily, but I'm not sure what the current laws are atm and/or if it depends per state and such? I'm passing in looks and all my papers have changed to female, but I don't voice train so I'm easily 'clockable' once I start talking. I'm terrified I get sent back the moment I have to speak and they think my voice doesn't match the gender on my passport or something. Or worse, I won't be safe and something happens to me.
Sorry if any of this sounds ignorant, I haven't been to the US in years and heard there might be issues entering as a trans person.
What are the laws like? And what are maybe some experiences with TSA? I do believe in the goodness in people, so despite laws actual personnel might just not care? Or you don't even talk to many people anymore and everything (like passport checks) is digital?

Dysphoria Saw a woman I could only dream to look like
It was on a bus because for some reason you only see the most beautiful alt people on the bus and then never again. She had a delicate face, black hair, pale, a perfectly flat stomach while still having boobs much bigger than mine. Wearing clothes I could never wear without getting strange looks. I know it's not good to compare but I don't know how to stop, ive been doing it for a decade with no one telling me that. It's not fair, I wish I could look that beautiful but I'll never get close.

Euphoria "Please keep the lights on, she is doing inventory"
I got gendered correctly in my long sleeves crap shirt and jeans with only a little bit of make-up on... I didn't even tell him my name, just moved around.
I thought today was going to suck, but when he said that, my day almost instantly improved.

Advice Question So confused i actually have no idea what to do.
19m. Ive been talking to detrans people who think ive got gender ocd which seems true but my body sinks at the fact i cant be a girl, and i like the feminine side and would love to be born a girl and i get happy from imagining being a girl. Ive had thoughts like this since i was a kid. But i feel like i dont hate my body enough to be trans nor do i feel like i could fit in as a girl socially.
The thoughts have gotten way worse recently and i dont know what to do about them.
Slowly ive been starting to get a bit uncomfortable with my body and wish some aspects could be different. I also dont know if i can live with these thoughts for all my life. But i also feel like theres no way i can actually be trans, im like any other guy my age with no signs that i could be trans other than crossdressing in private.
I just kinda want people from each side of things to just let me know what they think. I honestly feel hopeless right now with nothing to even cling to. As a guy i feel deflated because i have to deal with these thoughts but other than that im kind of fine. Then imagining myself as a girl mskes me think the thoughts will go and that i could be happy.
So yeah just lmk what you think.

Discussion I love that my RA meets me feel like one of the girls!
Hello guys, I currently live in a dorm on the female floor. And I would just love to say that I love how my RA makes me feel welcome there. She uses feminine terms on my evaluation sheets. However yesterday our whole floor got in trouble, and she chewed us out during a meeting yesterday. And called off of young ladies xd. It felt nice to me.

Help Feeling super emotional and hurt by everything from the Estrogen
I’m feeling so overwhelmed, I’m still at the beginning of HRT and everything feels too much. I feel so hurt by everyone’s comments and opinions, I feel like everything is out of control, I feel like I don’t know what’s going on and I feel crazy. All these emotions feel very intense. :(

Venting Overdrawn at the sperm bank NSFW
(with apologies to Philip K Dick and Raul Julia)
after dragging my feet for several months, I finally got myself to figure out a sperm bank so I could start HRT without feeling worried I was closing something off. went in to, “submit my specimen”, as they so euphemistically call it… and, uh, was not able to produce said specimen. some combination of the tiny/slightly sad little jerk-off room without air circulation right next to the main lab, having to bring myself out of the moment to focus on “submitting” in the cup correctly, and some preexisting pelvic health/fitness stuff flaring up came together to let me get close, but when I got ready to “catch” the specimen I was, uh, no longer close. tried for about 30 minutes, until the tallywhacker decided it was no longer interested in even playing along.
I’m sure it happens to plenty of people so I’m not too worried about it in itself, I can call and reschedule - just kind of bummed that I finally got my shit together and was looking forward to having this behind me and finally messaging my doctor to get the prescriptions, only to get foiled by my own meat sack and subconscious. just needed to vent somewhere as I don’t really have a lot of sources to do so atm and I figured this would be a receptive/amused audience :p
(also: yes, I know about the online places, I chose to do to an in-person thing because I’m over 40 and my understanding is it can helpful to the process to have the “specimen” preserved as soon as possible as my old sperm is not quite as peppy/intact as it used to be. I do also have the option of “off-site collection” as long as I drive it there within an hour so maybe I will do that, not sure yet… waiting to confer with my partner about if we want to confer at all this weekend before I figure out the next step since you need to “submit” without having produced any “samples” for the precious 3-5 days.)

Advice Question How do you do this alone?
I'm autistic and I feel things strongly.
This year I finally began to feel good about myself as a woman, and was happy with my progress in my transition. But after some rude comments I'm starting to feel ugly and doubtful again. I can't afford FFS, and that makes me feel worse. I hate my face and my body and I wish HRT did more.
Having no friends, community, or support makes it hard to bounce back. I've been doing this by myself. Any online groups I join seem to always fall apart, or I don't fit in with the clique.
My two year HRT anniversary is coming up and I have no one to celebrate it with. My bottom surgery is in about 1 month and no one knows. I have to recover by myself.
Does it ever get easier being so alone?

Advice Question Hair removal (potentially nsfw and tmi warning) NSFW
Hey ladies. So, I really really hate my body hair. Like all of it. And I’m perfectly fine with shaving most of it. But really the only spot I’m super apprehensive about is getting rid of my butthole hair. I hate it. It’s gross and just feels unsanitary (even though I know it isn’t because I clean myself very thoroughly).
But how would you recommend I go about getting rid of it cause I can’t necessarily shave it because my backs broken so I can’t really bend over to get any good angles and I’m also too shy/can’t afford waxing or laser hair removal.
Preferably if there’s some kind of hair removal cream that’s good and works on sensitive areas like that I’d like to use that. But any kind of advice on how to deal would that would be wonderful.
Thank you in advance.

Help Smoking and Transdermal Estradiol
Hello! I’m 22 and just started hrt this week, and I will be taking 0.25 ml per week of 20mg/mL (5mg) transdermal through injections.
I know smoking is bad etc etc regardless but I really have no intention of quitting and I just really like cigarettes 😭
Will smoking seriously hinder the effects of estradiol for me? Whenever I research this topic it seems like the main concern is for oral forms of estradiol but will it still affect me while taking injections?
