Hi all, a few updates for /r/motiondesign.
Spam
In an effort to reduce low-quality and spam posts here, we have implemented new post requirements. New posts that don't meet a minimum account age or subreddit karma threshold will be automatically filtered out.
To further prevent gamification, I am not disclosing these limits here but they are very modest and reasonable. Anyone interacting with this community should not be filtered, and even so, you will have the opportunity to message us for an exception. But this should discourage most of the spam we've been seeing. Thanks /u/Zeigerful for making this post.
Post Flair
We also added some post flair to help differentiate posts and allow users to filter & search by topic. All new posts require that one of the available flair types be selected:
Project Showcase | Reel | Inspiration | Discussion | Question | Tutorial | [Custom] (Where user can input their own)
User Flair
A few new user flairs are available. For those who aren't aware, these show up next to your username any time you make a post or comment in /r/motiondesign
Now available: Professional | Student | [Add My Social Handle] -- A custom text field where you can plug an Instagram, Behance, etc.
Let us know if you love or hate these new updates. Nothing is set in stone and this is meant as a discussion starting point. Please share any ideas you may have to make this a better place to share work, inspiration and discussion related to motion design. Hopefully we can continue to bring a higher quality experience to everyone here at /r/motiondesign.

We’ve been working on Liquid Bubble, a native After Effects effect for creating liquid-glass refraction.
The refraction gets stronger near the edges, stretching the image and creating a reflected look around the glass boundary. It works on adjustment layers, so it can refract everything underneath, and you can also use custom shapes.
Would love to hear what you think!

Added a bunch of new stuff to my tool lately, mainly on the kinetic side. How’s it turning out?
Update: TV style is now selectable, and the web demo timeline now matches the desktop version.

Its called Blackstar Lullaby. A lot is still up in the air, but I finally feel like it's starting to look the way I imagined.
This is one of the shots pulled apart a bit. Thought some of the screen work and the little layers behind it might be worth sharing.

Im a skilled video/ projection artist, my work is mainly personal and experimental projects that I do in a fine art context. My work usually “wows” people , but it doesn’t pay much.
I’d like to think there’s a world where I could be hired by local a/v production companies to design motion graphics/ projection mapping for their clients. I live in a city that has lots of conventions and big corporate events, so there are quite a few of the these a/v companies.
What I want to know, do these types of jobs exist? Who does the designing usually for projected motion graphics at events?
A few things-
I’m 100% happy with boring corporate work.
I’ve tried to shop myself around for this sort of thing, where I’d be using my own equipment, or renting it. But my projectors can’t compete with the professionals. And I found my budget would be drained by the cost of rental equipment. So I want to work with an a/v company that has their own gear.

Made for a laugh seeing all the AI fanboys swoon over tech that might rise up and kill us...

I'm working on Kuro, a free and open-source desktop browser based on the Zen/Firefox ecosystem. The goal is to make a highly customizable browser with stuff like workspaces, privacy tools, local AI, RAM optimization, and a lot more.
I'm looking for people who can make me a trailer for the upcoming release of the project.
If you're interested, or have any questions, reply to this post.
Note: Since this is an open-source project relying on contributors you won't be paid, but later on you will be paid from donations and partnerships.

Little excerpt of me playing my chaotic pointcloud system, in which the particles are being audioreactive to the incoming audio signal in real-time. What do you guys think?

Hey everyone! I'm developing a motion graphic for my school project, and I'm struggling to find a title that fits the story.
The project is about my personal struggle with AI dependency. I know relying on AI too much might affect my ability to think creatively, and I can see the signs, but I keep going back to it because it's convenient. Even when I realize something is wrong, I still can't seem to let go.
The story represents this as a never-ending loop of using AI, becoming dependent on it, realizing the consequences, and then using it again.
I'm looking for a title that's clever, slightly unsettling, and meaningful, possibly playing with the words AI and I or something like that.
I considered A[i]ddiction but it kinda sounds corny?
so yeah i'm open to any suggestions it would help a lot thanks.

I've been a freelance videographer and creative director for 3 years now, I started using frame.io 6 months ago and after a few months started receiving backlash for my clients for using it, complaints like it being used to train AI models (which I don't believe to be true but still), and complains that it just didn't offer a nice user experience for the client.
I started building my own alternative a month and a half ago, I used it for my own clients and now want to go public with it, issue is I know there is an abundance of services like it; services that say they are frame.io alternatives. I want mine to actually be worth it, free offers 10gb of storage at a time, one project. Pro is $12 a month, unlimited project, and 200gb storage (for now!). The core system is the same as frame.io but with a wayyyy nicer user experience, it's just simpler, looks better, and removes the confusing of frame.io .
To make it original, and different from all these other alternatives I'm focusing on what I would want, adding stuff like automatic reviews / testimonials, included file escrow / delivery, voice notes, etc. I'm building this because it solves a problem I had, and because I didn't like the abundance of other alternatives that are all trying to do the same thing, I want mine to be different, made by a freelancer, for freelancers.
Check it out, relayyed.com , I'd love to get peoples opinions and stance on frame.io and alternatives and work to improve Relayyed.

Just wrapped up building the postprocessing pipeline for the Motion+ (a web app I'm building) rendering engine.
Here’s a look at a scene created and rendered entirely with Motion+ 😊
How’s it looking? Let me know what you think!

Hey guys, I hate to start with "I was frustrated with X so I made an app that Y", but that's exactly what I'm saying. Not selling anything though, I just need input. Made an app that's very motion graphics centered. I used Blender (yes, 3D app I know) for motion graphics for a decade in a company I worked for and also user AE for motion graphics for all other work I needed it for. So I needed something that will give me results faster, seeing how easy it is to achieve things with code now.
Made Kinektic (https://kinektic.com/). It blends familiar layers and comps workflow from AE and combines it with some concepts from Blender (modifiers in particular) and adds a whole bunch of coded procedural effect layers that stand on the stage on their own. Not a stack of effects applied to a solid layer. Getting neon light sign or digital glitching effect is one click. I keep adding effects and features weekly. Also very focused on text (auto fitting both single line and paragrapoh text, adding backdrop, unique per-character/word/line animators....).
It's all still in development, but it would be so awesome if you guys could try it and give me some feedback. Or sign up with your email to get updates on how it's progressing. Here, latest video about Parallax effect layer I added.

Motion designer from Mexico here. I've been building this panel for the last few months: Text Morph, speed curves, one-click expressions, shape morph and more, each with an animated preview on hover.
There's a free version and I'm still adding tools. What would you want in a panel like this?

I learned after effects for about 3 weeks before giving up after experiencing burnout and discouraging myself from going because I kept seeing posts about ai taking over and it made everything feel pointless.
Today I came across the first proper project I made without a tutorial. I kinda wanna start learning again and would love for some feedback from you guys!

Hey everyone, this is Tyler from FrameRate. We’ve just updated our Showcases feature, and I made a quick walkthrough to show how it works.
The idea is to put together a selection of work for a specific client or pitch and send one link. You can choose from six layouts, add your own branding, and arrange everything in a visual editor without building a separate website.
There are also controls for passwords, downloads, autoplay, and looping.
If you send someone a personal invitation, you can see whether they opened it, which videos they watched, and what they downloaded. Helpful when you’re wondering if anyone actually looked at the reel you sent.
Curious how you handle this now. Do you make a collection for each pitch, send your full portfolio, or just drop a few links in an email?
Would love feedback on the update, too.
