The hits keep coming. Malfitano, the patron saint of "I've been playing fair the whole time" just revealed his true colors. He is fully exposed with his latest Instagram interview. He claimed that nobody was discussing policy, yet he had to have known his mailers were going to land. Fake outrage on his part. He pulls an article from six years ago, when Tyller Williamson wasn't the Mayor of Monterey and then slices out the quotes to highlight "defunding" the police. Article was written after the George Floyd murder. If you actually read the article you would see that defunding and reallocating resources seem to be the heart of the debate. And if you looked at Tyller's voting record as a council member and Mayor, I think Chief Huber would agree they mended those fences. And even then, council members don't control the budget - that would be the city manager. Even the Mayor doesn't do that work... Let's just call this out now and say that Ed Smith, current D2 council member is going to need to step up and own this mess. The misguided hatred of Tyller, is unmasked and should be discussed, researched, and exposed. So let's add some contrast of the candidates for additional flavor, since we seem to like digging into people's - 32 formal court/public record entries from 1986 - 2025. Federal SAM exclusion, UCC Collateral/Debt Filings (7 of those), Government Tax Liens (4 of those), Civil Judgments (3 of those in 3 counties), and 17 Traffic/Infraction Court Filings... It is all in the public record, could have thrown in the recent TRO filing, but who needs that headache? It is all in newspaper articles, court filings, background documents, they can't all be lying. Scream and yell all you want about defamation, but remember that when you sue people depositions can be fun for everyone. Like this quote from your deposition when you blew up a building, "I’m sure I came to the conclusion that a permit was needed, but it didn’t rise to the level in my mind that I should go pull one. I thought I was just trying to find a space to move a gas line." Thoughtfulness, consideration, kindness, and ownership are what Monterey deserves, not victimhood. Vote like it matters who runs your city and its resources. This is beyond budget deficits now...this is qualifications.
