Wilds [MH:Wilds] Endgame Meta Builds Compilation

3.2k Upvotes

>>> If the Google Doc images look blurry on mobile, try opening them through the Google Docs app or through a browser. <<<

Please check the individual guides in order to know if they're updated for the latest TU or not. Note that every TU doesn't necessarily change the meta.

With every new Monster Hunter game come new meta strategies and new ways to build the armor sets for your hunter. After some thought recollection, the time has finally come to present what the community has come up with when trying to figure out how you can optimize your gameplay in this brand new title.

The goal of this thread is, like the previous ones, to offer a selection of some of the best builds that have been minmaxed for damage and can be used for regular farming by any player with good enough experience on their weapon, or who's willing to gain that experience.

These guides are just tools conceived for people who like to learn how to optimize their own gameplay and figure out optimal ways to make use of what is available in the game, or who simply want an easier time farming while not giving up on basic skill requirements; nobody is forced to use them if they don't want to, and everyone is free to alter them at will for their own gameplay.
You can also use these guides simply as a starting point for when you want to try out a new weapon and learn the new ways of playing the game that are associated with them.

The albums collected here have been chosen among the available ones both for their correctness in terms of math/functionality and for their readability/accessibility. If you wish to improve any of these albums or cooperate with math and testing feel free to contact their authors directly and to give them suggestions or feedback this way, as they might not be actively reading this thread. Also, if an album seems not to be updated anymore, you are free to send me in DM an alternative album you made as long as you're committed to update it in the future as well (you will find here a detailed explanation of my expectations in terms of work).

The authors of the albums are also responsible for updating them with any new Title Update (TU) that will be added to the game. Please stop asking here if/when albums are gonna be updated, as it's not under my control. I will however notify on top of the thread whenever all the albums have been updated for the current patch of the game. (This last line was apparently not read, so from now on you'll have to figure that out by yourself.)

I would finally like to thank the community at Mathalos Nest for helping to double check or improve the content of the albums (research is still being done daily there, so if you're interested in helping feel free to join), as well as all the numerous testers, dataminers and modders that allowed us to have more accurate information about the skills and the way the game works.

I won't always be able to read this thread and I can't be the universal intermediary between users and authors. If therefore you find something in the content of an album that you think is wrong or may need fixing, please contact their author(s) directly through the means indicated in their albums.

DISCLAIMER

As usual, here's what you should expect (and not expect) from this compilation.

  1. This compilation focuses on damage-oriented builds aimed to show how it is possible to maximize your damage output within the assumption of a relatively optimized gameplay. Anyone is free to adapt these builds to their playstyle by replacing any damage skills with the comfort/survival skill they want, need or prefer. Everyone is also free not to use them if they don't like them.

  2. The albums are only about endgame builds and assume that you have access to the entire content of the game (HR100+). Progression sets are not covered here, although any author is free to add a progression section to their albums.

  3. The sets are mainly built and calculated so that anyone can use them for solo play. Multiplayer is obviously still a consideration, but the sets are supposed to work regardless if you're playing with others or not.

  4. The builds are meant for regular farming and not for speedrunning, which is a specific practice with its own rules and goals (although speedruns can obviously give some inspiration about tactics you can adopt in your regular gameplay). If you're interested in speedrunning this game I highly recommend to ignore this compilation and to join a speedrunning Discord and/or to learn by watching speedruns instead.

Wilds Theoretical True Charged Slash Destruction lv4 Motion Values

Hello, fellow hunters. sorry for my shitty english in advance.

I’ve finally found a gameplay clip showing the GS stats used in the Ascendance demo. 300 TRaw, 0 Elem. (min 1:06)

https://youtu.be/alHiRPLBJ3E?t=66

And from a video by Japanese content creator Take:

https://youtu.be/bPr4uqtfOWM

You can see several hits dealing 881 damage (non-critical) to the head and one dealing 1260 damage to a wounded head.(min 6:17). It doesn’t appear to have any active buffs during the gameplay; assuming the player may have used the canteen or BBQ to eat, the TRaw might vary slightly.

I then used Teostra’s HZV values from previous titles.

In summary:

MV = (881 / (310 * 1.32 * 0.55)) * 100

The 1,260 damage to a wounded target aligns with the MV added by the wound mechanic.

390-400 mv sounds too gud.

Considering that we'll have Purple Sharpness and the critical bonus, the GS's damage numbers can be very impressive. Need to wait til the datamining and see the rest of mv for the other new moves...

Any thoughts?

Wilds Quick Reroll Clarification

After scouting, the target roll is on th 5th roll...

Per roll is 3x if same focus 5x if not

So;

If I follow the dummy route 5pieces of non focus tarred devices for the first 4 rolls (20 pcs) 3pieces of focus TD for the god roll (3pcs) Total 23 pieces

If i just go for 5 rolls on my main weapon... 3pieces of focus TD for 5 rolls to god roll. Total of just 15 pieces

I would have saved 8 pieces of non focus TD right?

Am I missing something? How did I save anything?

I still burned Tarred Devices for 4 rolls. Why do I have to burn all that if I can just burn the same focus TD for less

Help? This is the correct process right?

Wilds Looking for sns build (beaten gog enough to make most of its armor)

Prepared enough to beat gog and get most of its armor
A: chest,gloves,waist
B:chest,waist, legs
Still on the hunt to get more gamma armor so I’m trying to see what’s a good build to make for element or raw damage with paralysis or poison

Wilds DB Skills to drop for comfort skills

I'm learning dual blades and coming back to world for the first time since launch, and I'm following the linked doc in the mega thread. It specifically mentions that certain quality of life or comfort skills like power prolonger, evade window, constitution and divine blessing aren't included as the builds provided are designed for optimal play and highest dps. That's fine, and good, but I'm a mere mortal trying to learn a weapon so I'd appreciate knowing which damage skills have the lowest value and thus can be dropped first for comfort or crutch skills.

I assume touching the crit skills and base elemental attack skills is a bad idea, since the whole critical boost vs critical ehe thing is down to math. Burst is likely also not worth adjusting since with how fast dual blades hit. Likewise anything to do with sharpness is a QOL loss when lowered like handicraft or something like that.

That said, these endgame sets are so low on decoration slots that fitting anything in is kind of hard and the only skills that can realistically be dropped for QOL stuff is counterstrike, critical boost and latent power.

Anyway, for those of you who like me are mere mortals with dual blades, what skills can you realistically drop to make room for some comfort?

Wilds Run nu udra

I'm trying to speedrun 10★ Nu Udra TA, and I always thought he usually leaves around 5:00–5:30 if you don't kill him or use a lure Pod. But it's happened more than 4 times now where I'm on a really good pace, around 4:40, and he just leaves anyway. Is it mostly RNG, or is there some kind of pattern to when he leaves? Does anyone know?

Wilds Coming Back to Prep for Ascendance

I fell off Wilds during the first Flamefete so I’m trying to hop on now and catch up as much as I can before Ascendance comes out. Haven’t even beaten regular Omega Planetes nor do I have a single useful talisman.

I run a Wide-Range support SnS build, but can’t find a good source of what the meta is if you’re in the spot I’m at. I wanna help my friends who fell off at the same time as me get caught up. Any builds I can focus on for my spot?

Also, any tips getting better at guarding? I’m used to World where SnS’s shield was mainly for decoration.

Wilds Charge Blade questions

I'm endgame (beaten all monsters) and I'm trying to make a good build for ascendance. So I have a few questions about things.

  1. Element or impact phials? I have impact phials and 3 attack focuses on all of my charge blades besides one Ice one which is 3 Element focus and elemental phials, which is better? Should I have elemental phials for every element type and then a few impact blades for specific monsters?

  2. Atk and affinity focusing:I saw that on DB's 2 affin 1 at was being used should I be using 3 atk for an impact phial and 3 affinity for an elemental phial weapon?

  3. How come some SAED's I saw on the internet are doing like 1.7k damage per "explosion" when mine are doing no where near that, is that because they were using elemental on an enemy weak to it and I've been using impact? If so what's the point of impact phials.

  4. What endgame monsters should I be using impact vs elemental phials on? If that is a reasonable thing to ask (like AT's, Gog, gore etc)

Thanks for any help! I know some of those questions may be fairly obvious but I haven't found any good or consistent answers for them.

Wilds CB meta into ascendance

My mates and I have gotten back into Wilds so I'm wondering, is there a current meta build or list of them for Charge Blade going into ascendance? I've got gogma water, fire and ice weapons with impact phials and can comfortably do AT's and Gogmazios. My current build was from a short that I'll link, if that is still good then there isn't any crazy need to change anything up right? Thanks for any help!

GU Can SnS get away with the using 1 crit skill?

Is it sub-optimal to run only wex on your sns sets and rely on affinity oil to cover the rest? Or is it better to prioritise crit until atleast 70% so that chaos oil 3 gets you to 100%

Im currently running the jho ceana set on all my sns’s since my charms are hot garbage rn, and ive been only running wex as my only crit up skill, along with crit boost.

Wilds Bow Gog/Guts build need advice

Hi. I just recently got the gogmapocalypse on two of my bows. (Fire and Dragon) and I was looking if it is good to pair the 4set gog skill with guts. (That is if I roll enough to get Gog/Lord Soul lol) I am kinda bad at reading monsters mostly and when I can’t perfect dodge an attack I usually cart or have 1 hp left.

This is my first experimenting but I made this build based off of Tidus’s build on MH builder. My question is, is it viable to remove Rath Flare Skill and Burst Boost Entirely for the Comfort and Survival of The Barrier from Gog and Anti-One Shot from Lord Soul?

Let me know what I can change on this build! Any help would be appreciated : )

Wilds CB - Back after long break

Long story short had PC issues and haven't really played since the Lagi update.

Way back when, Impact CB sets seemed to be the play, but now with all the Gog stuff it looks pretty obvious that element phial outperforms when maxed out.

My question is at what point do element phials actually start outperforming? Do I basically need a maxed out Gog CB with 4pc Gog bonus etc before even bothering with an element CB?

Wilds Looking for help putting together a *support* LBG build!

Hi all, so a friend recently told me that given my playstyle (almost consistently support SnS or support HH) that LBG could also be a good option for me given it's ability to shoot paralysis/poison/sleep etc ammo and what-not and give me more control over exactly when the monster gets CC'd (like shooting paralysis ammo until it's one away from paralysis, then shooting that last ammo whenever I so desire)

This sounds kinda fun to me, but I have *no* idea how LBG works, I've never touched the weapon in my life. So, if anyone has a build already they could share; that would be fantastic to give me a starting point to make it my own!

TYSM in advance.

GU Which Adept style Gs would do more damage?

Would a 320 raw ~90% Gs do more damage than a 310 raw ~100% affinity gs? My charm only only allows me to get to crit eye +2 on the garuga gs so I’m missing out on 10% affinity, but there is another greatsword that has an extra slot so I can get to crit eye 3, meaning I get 100% affinity on weak spots.
