Discussion The future for Safi'jiiva

Post image
329 Upvotes

Rambling ahead

I'm making this as a kind of response to every comment and post I have ever seen in regards to safijiiva having new forms in the future, whether it be some white fatalis equivalent or a new black form reminiscent of his old concept art.

First of all, safijiiva is thematically meant to be a 'perfect being' and as such reproduces asexually, and has no need for outside sources of energy. As you can imagine, this doesn't exactly give the impression of future change being possible- and considering his mastery over regeneration, a crimson fatalis like form gained in a fight with another monster after he is matured is unlikely.

Secondly, we are never seeing that completely black form in game. There isn't really room for speculation here. Old concept art scrapped in favour of a different design has (to my knowledge) never been used in any capacity. (EDW doesn't count because the idea for the creature itself was all that existed and was then repurposed into a monster rather than a variant of an existing one being created from it) The comment about the edges of his scales turning black was also confirmed to be just a hint to his thematic rivalry with fatalis.

I also want to mention that the xeno we fight isn't substantially different from a normal specimen. It may have been slightly stronger but there is no evidence to suggest it would have matured into a different kind of Safi (perfect means perfect) all of the cocoons in the bottom of the secluded valley are also the same size as the one we encounter in the confluence of fates and so are the sheds.

Regional variants are also off the table. Safi absorbs bio energy, and every monster has some with monsters being present absolutely everywhere we know of.

To be clear, I don't want people to stop speculation or give up hope or anything. I just want people to hope accurately.

If any future variant does exist, it'll be due to either something happening to a cocoon directly or a newborn xeno getting into a fight or similar experience that would change the way it matures. All of this is to say, it wouldn't actually be a Safijiiva variant, it would be something distinct. (Or else it would thematically clash with the concept of the monster)

Tldr: thematically thematically thematically the thematically perfect emperor of elders is thematically perfect no variants ever thematically perchance

If there's anything I'm misinformed on please tell me, I just get kind of annoyed when others are subject to misinformation and regurgitate these ideas all over the internet.

Discussion How exactly is Rajang measured?

Thumbnail
gallery
71 Upvotes

I am always curious about how they measure his length because typical Rajang is around 8.2m

His crowns are between 7.2m to 9.94m but by in-game model, it literally doesn't make any sense because he seems even smaller than Chatacabra and the frog is usually between 4.4m and 6.17m for a large gold crown.

All monsters are not measured in an identical way as most wyverns are measured from snout to tail maximum length but I can't confirm whether they include horns length on something like Jhen Mohran & Diablos as extra length. Or if they stretch Nakarkos tentacles to maximum limit.

But rajang is pretty much built like Chatacabra and in-game model wise he is only 3 to 3.5m rough estimate from head to hip in-game although the one I met is a small silver crown.

Nonetheless, do they measure rajang when he stands up and roars or includes his arms and legs or when he is fully stretched in superman poses or something and uses all his maximum strength length with arms and legs included?

His arms are almost as big as head to hip body ratio and if body is 3m his arm stretch can be 3m roughly and his hind limbs are 2/3 of his arms or 2m, so resulting 3+3+2 = 8m? But wouldn't the same rules apply to Chatacabra? He is bulkier and stockier while image chatacabra is a large gold crown around 6.17m, yet it should be smaller than rajang 8m and far smaller model wise.

But the above method is neither confirmed or capcom didn't mention anything as Rajang is usually hunched while Furious Rajang literally have tiny tail fur or almost no bull like tail like base Rajang. What does anyone think? Was he measured in different positions or methods?

Small clarification, the screenshot is Furious Rajang, whose tail is much shorter than regular Rajang's. I'm wondering how their listed lengths are measured, especially since their tail lengths differ.

Discussion My 3 favorite monsters

Post image

Lagiacrus: Cool crocodile-like design, and its fight in Wilds is straight up my favorite in the whole series so far. But Lagiacrus has a special place in my heart because it was my first ever look at Monster Hunter.

My first glimpse of the series was the cover of MH3 on the Wii. I really liked that crocodile-cobra thing on the front, but my little kid brain saw the “3” and thought I had to play the first two games first, so I never got it. Still, that design stuck with me hard. I’d see announcements and stuff here and there about the series but never felt motivated to jump in. I did catch the intro though on YouTube a long time ago, where that same crocodile-cobra was fighting a red dragon (later found out it’s Rathalos).

So when I finally played Rise, then Wilds, and saw Lagiacrus recreating that intro with Rathalos… it felt so satisfying to finally meet the monster I’d seen those years ago

Glavenus: Design speaks for itself. It’s a Carnotaurus with a sword for a tail. Two cool things smashed into one. I remember seeing footage of it biting its tail and having no idea why. Now that I’m playing World I get it — it bites the tail to sharpen the blade, then drags it around the ground to set it on fire.

Namielle: This one immediately became one of my favorites just from the design. This Elder Dragon is basically the ocean mashed into one monster:
- Skin like a shrimp
- Bioluminescence like a comb jelly
- Slime like a hagfish
- One-wing design looks like a manta ray
- Conducts electricity like electric eels and rays
- Head shaped like a hammerhead shark
- Tendrils like a jellyfish
- And an attack that makes its silhouette look like a vampire squid
I could stare at this design all day and keep finding more ocean animal inspirations.

TL;DR: I like these monsters** **because they look cool

I think they would lend well to the offset and wound mechanics. And have a good moveset to keep the player on edge but not overwhelmed despite the pace difference between the two games

Discussion Monster hunter Tri/3u was peak.

I saw a post earlier talking about monster I'd love to see again and it got me thinking... I miss the full cast of monster hunter 3U, but not just that, I miss the odd uniqueness of Tri. It was my first game and by far my favorite in terms of theme and armor styles. I love the new games and I know people hate remakes, but i would give so much to enjoy Tri in modern graphics and gameplay. Those are some of the best monsters in the series imo. When Lagi came to wilds I was so excited! I made every piece of armor and weapons. I miss Qpeco summoning jho! I miss agnaktor(myfav!) Clacking his beak. I miss Brachy with his slime. I was so happy he came to World. Even the Great jaggi and his crazy AOUGH OUGH OUGH call for his boys to jump you. Catching gobul from the river with a fishing rod. OMG sand barioth causing dust devils and jumping off of them, PEAK! bro gigginox is 100 times better than khezu and its not even close. All the cool unique subspecies, which feels like they dont do as much anymore. Those awesome maps with bright beautiful colors on the island and dark dreary nature of the flooded forest. The ice filled caverns and the molten volcano we fight inside. I know people hated the underwater combat, but i loved it. In tri you could make custom bowguns taking parts from each monster's gun making your own unique gun. Jhen's fight on the sand skiff was crazy fun, even tho its likely alittle dated now. The cool little dudes that were your companions cha-cha and Kayamba. That game was spectacular and opened up my love of the series that I still play today. While I enjoy monster hunter World, Rise, and Wilds they don't have that special feeling of swimming beside Ceadeus or defeating a monster in the ocean, on their turf or even still, the crazy flashy art style. I truly miss those old dated games. Even if the new QoL and gameplay feels better, the new games will never have that same heart and soul they put into Gen 3.

Just a side note, I still love the new games, I just miss the old games effort.
