hi, i made the stupid mistake of cheating and using AI on a test and now have an academic misconduct on my record, i am really worried if something happens in the future and I get accused of using AI and get suspended. Does the uni suspend people over two academic misconducts?

Hey guys!!
I have an assignment due on Sunday which I did already get a short extension for, I want to extend it by one more day through spec con though but I'm not sure what exactly it should say.
I looked at the website and there's a bunch of unacceptable statements but no example for something that will work.
If anyones applied and got it approved before, could you give me the format of what exactly was written? (this is to certify.... blah blah)
ALSO, has any online platform worked for u guys before? like Telehealth or smth??
THANK YOU

For this (honours!) unit I'm taking, the lecturer uses AI for everything, including generating assignments AND marking them.
The assignment feedback has blatant AI markers. More importantly, there are a few "dumb" students (no offense) in class who use their AI agent to do everything, including the assignment, and they managed to score higher than people in the class who are objectively more well-versed in the material in every way, shape or form (more relevant undergrad major, relevant thesis topic, etc.). My theory is that, since AI is marking our assignments, it would obviously like the assignments from students who also used AI to do their assignment while those of us who actually did the assignments ourselves were marked harshly by the AI marker.
Also, if you are telling AI to mark an assignment, it will always find things to nitpick on to deduct marks. The result is that a lot of the marks we lost have some bullshit nonsensical explanation. In addition, we were told specific things about this assignment verbally that are not in the actual assignment guidelines, but since AI was used to mark, it didn't take this additional info into account, leading us to lose unfair marks.
Basically, you are penalized if you actually did the work themselves instead of getting AI to do it. The AI marker much prefers an AI assignment (like-minded, ay?) VS a human-written assignment.
The CE doesn't help his case by being super pro-AI either.
This is horrible for those of us planning to do a PhD cause our honours marks are so important. It is incredibly frustrating seeing such a lazy and careless lecturer shit all over us.

Hi guys, as exam season is coming up I had a question. I really do study for all assessments and exams but when the results come out it’s always average or even below it. I’m not sure how to write answers in the exam such that I get good marks for it. I do prac exam and content revision but I still haven’t figured out how to get good marks even tho I study. (2nd year btw)

Hi everyone, I'm looking for units to take over the summer, preferably Commerce or Computer Science / IT units, but I'm also open to electives from any other faculty.
Would appreciate any recommendations, especially if you've taken the unit before and can share your experience.
Thanks

Hi! Just saw that people have started receiving offers and unfortunately I haven't received anything yet :/
Just curious for those who have received their offers:
- did you apply for UC/RV?
- what time did you apply?
- when did you receive your offer?
I applied 2-3 hours after it opened with a preference for the postgrad areas in UC but now stressed I won't get in :(

Hi! I’m deciding between ATS3824 and ATS3252. Which one has a lighter workload, easier assessments, and more lenient marking? My main goal is to boost my WAM.

Hello! I'm currently enrolled in a double degree for law + commerce and going into second year I notice that we get two commerce electives (one per semester) so I was just wondering if anyone had any specific reccomendations on what electives to do. I did ECX2953 (Economics) and ACC1100 (Intro to financial accounting) in first sem and this sem I'm doing ETC1000 (Business+ econ/ stats) and MKC1200 (Marketing).
I'm currently unsure on what commerce major to pick but probably going towards accounting, I don't know if I should pick wam booster subjects (like perhaps the easier accounting fundamentals) or if there's any other suggestions that might be more closely related to my major.

Hi guys,
I recently received PhD scholarship offers from both Monash University and the University of Wollongong (UOW). Personally, I really love Monash, and there's no doubt it's a great university. However, I'm in a very unusual situation, and I'm struggling to decide which offer to accept.
Here's my situation:
1. Research Area and University Reputation
My bachelor's and master's degrees are in Engineering, with a focus on AI. At Monash, my PhD would be in the Psychology department, although the research is somewhat related to AI. On the other hand, my PhD at UOW would focus purely on AI and drones, which is much closer to my academic background.
I know Monash has a much stronger global ranking and reputation, but I'm wondering how much that actually matters compared to the research area, especially when it comes to future career opportunities.
2. My Wife's Scholarship and Our Visa Situation
Both my wife and I received fully funded PhD offers from UOW, while I also received a scholarship from Monash.
We've already been waiting for our student visas for around 13 months. Unfortunately, our previous university offers expired during this time, so we had to apply to new universities.
My wife was also waiting for a scholarship decision from another university in Melbourne. However, she recently received an s57 request, which gave her only 28 days to respond with an updated offer. Since she couldn't risk her visa being rejected, she accepted the UOW offer.
Now I'm the one who has to decide whether to accept Monash or UOW.
3. Financial Situation and Living in Different Cities
This is probably one of my biggest concerns.
My Monash scholarship stipend is really good, possibly one of the highest in Melbourne. However, if I choose Monash while my wife studies at UOW, we'll have to live in different cities.
That means separate accommodation, higher living expenses, travel costs to visit each other, and all the other challenges of living apart as a married couple.
Even with the higher stipend at Monash, I feel like I would barely save anything after covering my expenses. Also, the Monash lab seems quite demanding, so I probably wouldn't have much time for part-time work.
On the other hand, if we both go to UOW, we can live together, share expenses, and potentially save more money.
4. Future Job Opportunities
Some people have told me to choose Monash because of its ranking and reputation, while others suggest UOW because the research aligns better with my engineering and AI background.
Another factor is that Wollongong is relatively close to Sydney, which I feel might give me access to more job opportunities in the AI/tech industry after graduation.
However, I'm still worried that choosing UOW over Monash might affect my future career opportunities, especially if I want to pursue research or work in industry.
I'm genuinely confused and would really appreciate some advice.
If you were in my situation, what would you choose?
I'd especially love to hear from current PhD students, graduates, or anyone familiar with Monash and UOW, particularly in AI-related research.
Does university ranking really matter that much for a PhD, or should I prioritize research alignment, financial stability, and being with my wife?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

I was looking at the course map for Bachelor of Law and in the first year you take 4 non-law electives. I wanted to ask for advice on what would be the best courses to take a look at. I am generally looking for easier and more fun classes that won't take up too much of my time. Also any advice would be appreciated for someone going into year 1.

bc what do u mean it used to be 6/9 and now it’s 6/8 bc they decided to remove the week 12 lab as a competency lab??
we were allowed to miss 3 labs and still pass. now we can only miss 2.
i’ve already missed 3.
originally i could pass just by doing the wk11 and wk12 labs. now im not even going to meet the competency hurdle bc i’ve only completed 4 in person labs.
i don’t get why they would change that decision last minute??

Hi everyone,
I’m just looking for some advice if anybody knows what to do in this situation or has been in the same boat. There’s been a death in my family about a week and a half ago and the funeral has been scheduled for the same time as one of my mid-semester exams. I would love to be at the funeral and am supposed to be speaking, but need to sit this exam to pass the unit. If anyone knows if this is grounds for special consideration and what category it’d fit into and evidence I’d need to supply if so, any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
